Kustom PA

A rock-the-house speaker for bands on a budget.

The Kustom KPC15P is a 100-Watt, powered speaker with a 15" Kustom-built loudspeaker and a piezo HF driver. The PA speaker is tuned to deliver rich, balanced tonality while accurately reproducing a wide variety of audio content.

The Kustom KPC15P powered speaker provides balanced XLR and TRS 1/4" (balanced/unbalanced) input jacks. These may be used to connect a wide variety of line level devices such as non-powered mixers, preamps, keyboards, drum machines and other audio devices including music players such as iPods and CD players. The Kustom KPC15P speaker's volume control adjusts the overall level.

A TRS 1/4" line out jack may be used to daisy chain 2 or more Kustom KPC speakers for a wider dispersion of sound. For example, if a non-powered audio mixer has been connected to the Kustom KPC speaker's input, the line out of this first speaker may be connected to a second speaker's Input. This is a daisy chain and it often requires shorter cable hook-up lengths versus connecting the second speaker directly to the audio mixer.

Since its inception in 1966, Kustom has produced high-quality, affordable PA products, and the Kustom KPC15P PA speaker continues that tradition.

Comments about Kustom PA KPC15P 15" Powered PA Speaker:

The speakers went from the shipping box directly onto speaker stands. Connected them to a Mackie 1402 with two Shure mics and an MP3 patch. Even on stands had to moderate the bass for PA use, almost like a subwoofer on the low range response even on stands. High range was suprisingly good. Both speakers I bought seem to be matched. So far very happy with them. May carpet them down the road, just my preference as my stuff gets moved alot by roadies. Only one very minor con: I wish the stand socket was metal; I haven't had good luck with plastic sockets.

I needed a lower power speaker for home. This 100-watt speaker was inexpensive and has a great sound.

They live up to expectations. Clean, clear. If you want a lot of low end you will need subs as they are only rated to 60hz, but they sound excellent with keys and midi drums.

For the price really good. ITs only 100 watts so don't expect more than that without distortion. good for highs and mid bass. You will have to buy a sub to hit the lows properly. Really good for home use.. I never brought them out but I don't think its enough for a big venue maybe a little bar or something. Great for a hobbyist on a budget. You will enjoy these.

The features are great for the most part but I did not understand that these would not power passive monitors directly and that I now have to buy powered monitors too.

Comments about Kustom PA KPC15P 15" Powered PA Speaker:

Very good so far. I'm stoked.
I recieved these so quickly I was amazed. I've shopped at MF for years and have never had a problem. Quick replacements for damaged/doa products, great prices and sales, good service.
Unboxed them, hooked them to my laptop, and everything did what is was supposed to do. Did a three day burn in on idle. Then went through a good mixer. I was amazed. The horns could be attenuated in my LR, but I bet in a club would sound fine...with decent EQ. Since I mix with a board (odd...) I don't mind the fact that eq, compression, etc. is not present on the cabinets. The controls are EZ and to the point. The AB amp type are usually rated more liberally than a valve amp. I imagine they run at 4 ohmes, although there is no data on this. No data on the full range/woofers either. I am a lttle concerned about air flow to the heat sinks/mossfet front end...no one seems to know how they get the cooling they need. I don't hear a fan. The jury is still out on how these will hold up, but for now I love them. The pole sockets are great. Grills seem a little weak, but I usually add some more 3/4" wood screws at pressure points. Daisy chain good practical idea. I've had Kustom bass gear since the era of the rock sofa look, the amps were always clear and punchy for bass.. I even have a pair of the little 10" monitors for 2 yrs/use for karaoke shows, and the stand up great, still look and sound good putting 150w@8 ohmes into them.
Well constructed. Well dressed, good corners--love the Tolex as opposed to the sheepdog look of carpeted cabinets. I'm sure these boxes are not the quality of old Fenders/plywood, steel corners, etc., but at this price I can get out the old shoe polish and ballpeen if they get too nasty...corners are chep...or cover them with sheepdog. Terminals are firm and reponsives as are the switches/pots. Another concern to me is that little blue bubbley light on/off. Seems like a flat LED/punch switch would better suited a road use cabinet. Maybe someone sells vinyl covers for these.
Unprecidented. Dollar for dollar these are a good fit for me. Sold my big stuff years ago-- went to molded cabs, mixer amp combos, et.--when I retired sort of, damaged back demands I be careful carrying weight.I like the idea of a small mixer and powered speakers.
I'll write another review in 6 mos. That should tell the tale; although all my current work is local now, they still have to travel in a van, loaded in and out and dropped in the snow most likely, right?

Comments about Kustom PA KPC15P 15" Powered PA Speaker:

These seem solid, produce a pretty decent sound for my purpose (to hear the bands' vox a bit better), Could stand an EQ, but for the price I can make other arrangements. I am not looking for these to thump, but to re-produce clean and melodic vocals. These do re-produce our vocals well, with just a bit of too much high frequency( glad I did not go with the 12 or 10).
Volume, xlr an 1/4 input, 1/4 output for daisy chain, handles low frequencies decently, heavy.
No EQ, thus the marks off, would be nice, surely would add to the cost, but would be nice. If I get more of these I will just run them all through an EQ I already have, but using for another purpose.
I have some other Kustom Speakers I have had for a while, passive, seems to be fine. This one looks pretty solid for now.
I think for the money paid these are fantastic!

An awesome bang for your buck!

Comments about Kustom PA KPC15P 15" Powered PA Speaker:

These mains are an amazing deal, and you're not going to find anything close to this quality for this price, probably not even if you buy used! You will need to EQ your mixer because these speakers are very bass-heavy and sound muddy if you are plugging an instrument straight into the cabinet, but it's easy enough to get a great-balanced sound through your EQ in under 2 minutes. All in all, these are great mains for your band if you play in small/medium sized clubs, coffeehouses, or outdoor venues. And, you'll even have enough cash left over to buy monitors, stands, and cables as well!
Very straightforward controls, a 1/4" and XLR Mic imputs, a 1/4" output for powering passive speakers, lighted on/off switch, volume control and holes for pole-mounting. They do also have plastic corner protectors and heavy metal grilles which are nice. My only complaint is that the power cords aren't very long, so the connection to the extension cord could come loose if you are using speaker stands. It's an easy enough fix with the little S-shaped connection keepers you can buy at the hardware store.
Overall, pretty well put together. Covered in black vinyl, it seems pretty durable as long as you're fairly careful loading and unloading them (I wouldn't recommend letting your teenage nephew throw them into the back of a pickup truck). The boxes put together well, very solid and durable. Sound quality, bass response and volume are very good. The only reason I'm not giving a 10 for quality is because the recessed handles are made of a light plastic. I haven't had one break on me or anything, but would feel better if they were made with a little heavier plastic than what they are.
You're going to pay 3 to 4 times more for even the low end powered Peaveys or Yamahas, and they probably aren't going to sound any better than these Kustoms do. Unless you have two grand to spend on mains, you'd be absolutely crazy not to buy these.
