Preferred Vocal Reverb

By LivePro

from southern Oregon

The Lexicon MPX-1 is my preferred vocal reverb. I've used SPX990s and I own a SPX2000. Both great units but for ease of use and overall sound the MPX-1 is my first choice. The factory patches are a good place to start but I find myself modifying those patches to get exactly what I want without too much futzing. I like the interface; it gives every parameter needed to create the sound I'm looking for without too many menu levels. Used in conjunction with a D-Two I can duplicate any room environment. If you want THE reverb to fatten vocals or create performance rooms the MPX-1 can do what you need. It has great sound with very low noise.

Steep learning curve

By LosBoricuas

See all my reviews

Of all the equipment I've ever owned, the interface on the MPX1 resembles none. That said, prepare to have to read the book. I find that some of the patches need tweaking, but once you figure out how to use this thing, it's gold. Many people audition presets and judge by that, and that's a huge mistake. Once you program the MPX1 to your taste, you'll forget about many plug-in effects.

This unit delivers the legendary LEXICON Reverb and other must have effects in one very flexible and user friendly package. This unit has become an essential part of my studio and is the most flexible and stable unit of its type that I have ever used. It is well worth every penny!
