Bought the MX200 to replace an Alesis MidiVerb4 that died. The Alesis is a good effects unit but not what I'd consider a good choice for musicians who need a processor that is "road tough". That said, the MX200 is all I expected it to be. It is is NOT what I'd label a "pro studio" unit, but does the job for me as a songwriter and recording demos for publishers. It appears to be tough enough to be a piece of gear that can take the banging around that travel entails so I'm sticking with this choice. Found no problems with hum or background noise. I love the MIDI functions and hands on controls. I'm extremely weary of menu driven gear. Give me a knob and let me tweak it to what I like!! Don't make me fight a bunch of menus to only forget where the heck I was at to adjust some parameter buried in software.
I like it!! I'd recommend this to anyone who travels and plays live for vocals or instruments. My bottom line - the MX200 is well suited for live performances and can hold it's own in the home studio for demos.

My primary need for this was in the effects loop of my guitar amp. Having hooked it up, I was surprised to hear a very noticeable drop in volume and tone quality. My email to Lexicon was answered as follows: "The MX200 is intended for use with line level input and line level output signals. Unfortunately, it may not perform as well with guitar amp effects as it would on a aux send and return on a mixing board."It's a great sounding reverb and effects box for the PA - that's why I've given it generous ratings - but if you're a guitarist, you might want to look elsewhere.

Read the instructions! That's all I can tell you. I'm a drummer. That's what I do. But recently I have become the "sound guy" too. So I got a nice mixing board, and this processor. Read the instructions!! lol.. If you follow directions, it works great!

I got it and I love it. Use it primarily for drum effects and some work with lead singer. This thing will do just about anything you could ever ask. Awesome and buy it!
Comments about Lexicon MX200 Dual Reverb/Effects Processor:
This is the perfect effect unit for a keyboardist looking for an easy to operate proccesor. I figured it out right out of the box without looking at the manual and this is the first proccesor I've ever owned. The delay settings are quite easy to program as there are only three knobs and a tap tempo function. Highly recommended.
Comments about Lexicon MX200 Dual Reverb/Effects Processor:
Bought one of these to replace an old Peavey effects unit. As soon as we plugged it in we noticed a very pronounced high-end hiss. Only way to tone it down was to try to EQ it out. (the input/outputs had to be turned almost to zero to quiet it down - so what's the point?) Ended up yanking it and keeping the old one. Friend of mine recently had the same experience in his set-up. If only he had asked me first. Look up other reviews about this product, it also has a display glitch that causes it to randomly scroll through different effects settings. This is unacceptable in this day and age - even at this pricepoint. It is now sitting in our "just in case something breaks" pile.
Comments about Lexicon MX200 Dual Reverb/Effects Processor:
I bought the Lexicon MX200 because it had so many effects and possibilities, but it totally kills my guitar sound. Switching on simple tremolo for example, you can hear your volume cut in half (even with the output knob fully cranked) and almost like brick-wall compression. This unit is shipping back.
Comments about Lexicon MX200 Dual Reverb/Effects Processor:
Good unit to add to any rack.. I home built the two switch TRS foot controller. I can't find any info on which (5) five pin midi controller is the one to use. I definately like the detuner and the delay features. I would recomend this unit to any one looking for a great digital reverb effect.

Comments about Lexicon MX200 Dual Reverb/Effects Processor:
Bought the MX200 from Musicians Friend because it was advertised as a plug-in effect. Not true. While it is a fine outboard reverb/effects unit worth every penny, it does not function as a true plug-in effect. A Lexicon support tech basically confirmed this to me while discussing hookup. You can control the various settings from your DAW through the USB connection, so this is handy if the unit is not mounted within arms reach in your studio. You cannot add it's effects to an existing track as with other plug-ins. You must send that track's output to the MX200, then come back into the DAW on another track. Lexicon did say they were considering offering some low cost true software plug-ins. Their currect plug-ins are very costly, but of course quite good. I gave it an average overall rating because I think the advertising is deceptive. I use it on an interface insert for the vocal mic channel.
Comments about Lexicon MX200 Dual Reverb/Effects Processor:
Bought the MX200 from Musician's Friend a couple of months ago to replace an older, lesser Lexicon model. Was mainly interested in using it as a DAW plug-in, but have not yet been able to get it to work in that capacity. Have tried many ways of connecting it to the computer & the firewire interface, but nothing has worked yet. The manual could use some tweaking. As an analog unit, it has that great Lexicon sound which I love, and can be used as an outboard unit in my studio, but I'm disappointed in its use as a plug-in. Will continue to work on the problem.
