Line 6 versions of the immortal guitar, bass, and effects tones essential to the success of countless platinum-selling albums are now available for recording guitarists thanks to POD Studio UX2.

NOTE: As of April 2010, if you order this product, you'll automatically be upgraded to POD Farm 2.0.

In 1998, Line 6 released the Amp Farm amp modeling plug-in and forever changed the way guitarists record. Ten years and dozens of groundbreaking creations later, Line 6 continues the recording revolution with POD Farm.

POD Farm, the Premium Tone Plug-in
From dark and smoky American combos to blazing, gain-crazed English stacks, the sounds of hundreds of fully adjustable amps and cabs, plus studio-standard effects, stompboxes, and preamps are here for you to define your music and cement your place in history.

It includes 18 immortal guitar amps (modeled after Fender, Deluxe Reverb, Marshall JCM-800, Vox AC-30 Top Boost, Mesa/Boogie Dual Rectifier, and more), 24 guitar cabs, 5 bass amps and 5 bass cabs, 29 essential stompbox and studio effects (modeled after EP-1 Tube Echoplex, Ibanez Tube Screamer, MXR Phase 90, LA-2A studio compression, and more) and 6 crucial mic preamps (modeled after Neve 1073, Avalon Vt737, API 512c, and more).

Drag-and-drop models into the signal flow, pre- or post-amplifier. The carousel-style gear browser, displaying each and every coveted model, provides an experience that's a dream come true. Creating classic tones or imaginative hybrids is incredibly fast and easy.

Fully adjustable, each model offers total tweak capability. Also, with hundreds of presets available, classic gear combinations can be chosen to provide timeless tones in an instant.

UX2, Low Noise for the Clear Recordings
The Line 6 UX2 recording interface boasts amazingly low noise for recording guitar, 12dB more dynamic range than similar interfaces, for clear and dynamic recordings. Plus, exclusive Line 6 ToneDirect monitoring virtually eliminates latency, allowing you to record with amp and effect modeling without sacrificing tone or feel.

Versatile and powerful, the UX2 interface boasts a comprehensive I/O featuring two 1/4-inch guitar inputs (normal or pad), two balanced XLR inputs with high-quality mic preamps, phantom power and trim knobs, a 1/4-inch stereo monitor input, two 1/4-inch line inputs, two balanced 1/4-inch line outputs, S/PDIF digital output, a 1/4-inch stereo headphone output with level control, and a pair of assignable VU meters for a truly pro recording experience.

Start Recording Guitar Licks Right Out of the Box
POD Studio UX2 includes POD Farm plug-in and award-winning Reason Adapted production software featuring a sought-after sequencer and tons of stunningly lifelike instruments. This collection of studio-standard hardware and software provides instant pro recording, right out of the box.

Public Service Announcement: Latency Kills
Recording with latency is like driving with your eyes closed. Line 6's ToneDirect monitoring allows you to record and monitor a fully processed tone while virtually eliminating latency and taking all the guesswork out of recording great-sounding tracks.

What's latency? Latency is the delay caused by the time it takes your guitar signal to travel all the way through your hardware interface, through your computer's processor, through your plug-in software, back through your hardware interface, and out of your speakers or headphones. This delay is heard in your monitoring signal and makes recording almost impossible. With a POD Studio UX2 interface, latency is something you'll never have to deal with.

I went ahead and bought this interface despite the number of negative reviews. I'm glad that I did. The software was extremely easy to install, the updates were seamless, and the quality is much better than anticipated. FYI I am using Windows 7 Ultimate and this interface works with ALL of my recording software.

The POD Farm interface is great! I love having the ability to scroll through all of the equipment and build my effects and amp sims. I even downloaded some of the user files from the website. I haven't tried to record vocals with it yet, but I wouldn't hesitate doing so.

The only gripe that I have is that some of the presets use virtual equipment that isn't supported on the UX2. There may be a way to get this functionality, but I haven't found it yet. I would be happy to answer any questions about it. Over the last 7 months I have recorded SEVERAL tracks with this machine and it has not let me down.

I can't really call the plastic construction a con because it stays on my desk. I don't think I would want to put it through the abuse that gigging would bring about, but I don't plan on using it for live sound. If you need a good audio interface with some great effects, buy this; period.

Overall, I really can't recommend this product under any circumstances unless it were given to you as a gift.

1 The software is second rate compared to what else is available in a similar price range, think here of Guitar Rig LE with similarly priced sound cards.

2 The cracks and pops (sporadic) are part of the Line 6 buggy interface during recording and this has been proven repeatedly on both the Line 6 forums and various youtube videos. I've never had a sound card that performed this poorly and I have engineered recordings on several platforms. Dont believe the hype, please look elsewhere, this is one miserable product.
I have owned this unit for over a year so please pay attention carefully.

On the surface this looks like a great deal:

Software, hardware, and even recording software. Lets peer quickly into the abyss of the land of riddled me with bugs, dropouts, known bugs not fixed, user community complaints, and experienced professionals such as me who have simply tossed the unit out and taken the 200 dollar loss.

1 Software: very immature, unstable, and difficult to install. I am a former software engineer and recording engineer so its not like I am some noob. Reminds me of Windows 2x in the day and the interface even looks similar. One needs to install the software, and the monkey software, and then hunt around for latest driver updates...really bad user experience for all and the reviews here are mostly spot on with respect to the poor software implementation.

2 UX 2 Hardware: It works... sometimes! This is a well documented, bug ridden interface from both the hardware and software perspective. After months of tweaking I was able to get a modicum of stability for about 2 minutes or less of recording time before some crack, pop, hiss, or dropout (complete dropout) occurred and caused me to either perform a retake or miserable scrubbing of the wave file. Noise gates are defenseless against high output crackles.

3 Recording Software: You can get your guitar into the DAW Ableton Live, but the crippleware is so extreme it is not really worth your time. Only 2 VSTs, really? Thats not even a drum track. Cubase LE is bundled with other sounds cards and as restrictive as Steinberg is--a far cry from the ineptitude of the Ableton recording software.

Sound: The only reason this review gives the 2 rating is that sound for a teenager would be very respectable with amps turned to 10 drawing out all of the sound artifacts, hiss, crackles, and unexpected pops, and dropouts.

    Please avoid this altogether.
This does not really work as a viable recording interface, but one can generate a demo song from the unit as long as you don't mind your demo being riddled with unexplained dropouts, crackling, and hisses. There is no remedy or bug fix when the hardware unit drops out with the USB interface.
This is a cheap interface, but its poor performance should remove most buyers save for the tone deaf metal heads where the hiss and distortion from amps might cover over the crackling, pops, and even the notorious sound dropouts.

Comments about Line 6 POD Studio UX2 with POD Farm:

Puchased a cheap interface at first and it had driver problems. Line 6 provides you with the right drivers. The ux2 provides you with good sound and zero latency once you get your settings set right. Line 6 has a video of how to set it up properly which is why line 6 is such a good company to deal with. the pod farm software is easy to use and the effects sound good. I only wish the extra effects you can purchase didn't cost so much.

Comments about Line 6 POD Studio UX2 with POD Farm:

I am a 20 year old guitarist. I taught myself to play guitar after experimenting with both the bass and piano about 6 years ago. I suffered difficulties due to my little brother have the "spotlight". I play a wide variety of music, from jazz to deathcore, and have played with the Magic City Blues Society, performed in the Alabama Jazz Hall of Fame, and have lended my skills to a few professional recordings.

I received this as a gift from a bandmates father in 2010. Recently the USB socket broke and is now unusable, so I got a good 4 years use out of it. I have lived in a poverty ridden family for most of my life so I could never afford great amps to practice with and such. I have enjoyed using it to practice and record stuff. It is by no means suitable for top-notch recording! But I have produced some good sounding recordings using this thing (recording both guitar and vocals). I credit that mainly to my abilites to use DAW and the knowledge I have picked from the brains of audio engineers for the last few years though haha.

This unit is pretty cool. I have had it for a few weeks now and the sounds are amazing. keep in mind im using regular stereo earbuds. Still the sound is amazing. Don't even require the high price studio headphones to hear how awesome this unit is. I have played around with a bunch of preset tones and I must say they are spot on. all in all a keeper. time will tell of its durability but for now its doing the job quite well.

Go to the line6 website download line6 monkey. It will have the drivers you need to get the ux2 to work. I didn't get abletone live lite but got the reason limited. Probably won't get the live lite not a very reliable interface to order anymore from all the other reviews I read before ordering another one. I already have one ux2 bought about 3 years ago it did great had all the software with it. with all the negative reviews of things not working I was hoping I wouldn't be one of them but I sure got disappointed when not receiving the ableton live lite software.

Nice unit. Two mic inputs and two instrument inputs. Easy to use once you can find your way around making it compatible with your computer. I have an iMac. It took a lot of time trying to configure it. Make sure you add POD farm at the same time. It's not as easy as the tutorials say it is. I'm not the slickest on computers and this was a mild nightmare. Other than that I think it will work out fine. External speakers for it need to be powered.
