I bought this unit almost a year ago. I read my original review, and felt it was too light on information for any potential buyer.
Here is my revised review, after working with this unit for the past 9 months. I have used it at every weekly practice, since purchase.
Being in a KISS tribute requires wireless usage for the cool factor, and safety issues (platform boots).
I was initially very skeptical about the capability of a wireless. Being a former owner of a Nady RW-1 (which is a piece of garbage) I was not very jazzed about exchanging my trusty instrument cable for a tone-sucking, battery-eating, unreliable wireless.
However, times have changed
After talking to band mates and consulting online forums, the Line6 G50 was frequently mentioned. With a sigh of hesitation, I took the plunge and purchased a used (mint condition) G50 from Musicians Friend.
PROS:
-I have experienced no signal thinning or loss. In fact, my tone has more presence with my wireless.
-The output knob that matches the length of instrument cord from receiver to amp is cool, and takes the guess work out of how much output should be dialed in on the wireless receiver.
-The low battery light not only flashes on your transmitter, but the receiver as well. This is especially helpful if your wireless receiver is offstage with a guitar/bass tech. The indicator gives them ample, advanced warning of future battery failure.
-The audio light is another great indicator, and streamlines troubleshooting. This light flickers on both the transmitter and receiver, enabling the user to verify that the wireless is both transmitting and receiving signal.
-The programming features are simple enough to use and alter. However, this unit does so many cool functions, that it is wise to keep the operator manual in your gig bag.
-The transmitter power on/off button doesnt make my rig pop. Very nice.
-The transmitter mute button is great and works well in quick change situations.
-You can program text to appear on the screen of the transmitter. Kind of a cool feature to prevent transmitters from getting mixed up with band members.
-The power save feature is great for situations when youre playing in small areas, and dont need as much reach. I use this all the time to maximize battery life, when at practice.
-The battery life on this unit is spectacular. I can easily do three, 3-hour practices, before I need to change batteries.
-I like that they use AA batteries for this unit.
-The metal transmitter & receiver cases are pretty rugged, but I try to not abuse my wireless.
-The receiver antennas are short, robust, and do not be extended to function. They usually stay tucked down on my pedal board.
-Swapping out batteries in the transmitter is a breeze.
-Line 6 furnished this unit with 12 different channels, which can be easily changed with a knob on the receiver and a few functions on the transmitter. This feature enables many members in a band to use the G50.
-In full power mode, I can get pretty far from my amp. I havent tested its limit, but Ive messed with it in long distances, equal to large stages. I have had no problems.
CONS:
-The transmitter connection is probably the weakest point of this unit. I havent had any problems, but I always keep my transmitter in its own little box when not in use.
-The channel knob on my receiver was changed to a different channel by accident. It took me 5 minutes to troubleshoot my signal loss. Fortunately, this occurred at practice.
-Line 6 furnishes this unit with a straight jack transmitter cord. I purchased a Shure angled jack cord to prevent any accidental guitar jack or wireless transmitter cord damage. The line 6 cord is now a spare.
-Id highly recommend getting a spare transmitter cord. From what Ive read, its the weakest point on this unit.
-As robust as this wireless looks, its still delicate electronic gear. If you plan to have it on the floor, be smart and have it protected on a pedal board. Id imagine the antennas could be snapped if stepped on.
Im very happy with this wireless, and Im glad that affordable technology has finally caught up to the trusty instrument cable. If you want to explore the freedom of going wireless, Id urge you to try the Line6 G Series.

I bought the G50, plugged everything in, and it made no sound. I called up Musician's Friend and they suggested that I send it back for a new one because the output jack was probably dead. I got a new one and had the exact same problem. I called Line 6 and spent 2.5 hours on hold just to find out that, again, the output jack was dead. This time, they suggested I send it to them and they would fix it. 6 weeks later I received my "fixed" G50. I got it to make sound only once before the jack crapped out AGAIN. I so wanted to love this product..... Oh well, off to Sennheiser or Shure.

Comments about Line 6 Relay G50 Digital Wireless Guitar System:
This unit is built like a tank and extremely easy to use. The "cable simulator" is basically an eq dial, which I do not use, but some may like it. Some small latency is present when I get farther away from unit (like 100 ft or more), but absolutely spot-on with normal distances (100 ft or less). It does not interfere with my wireless ears at all (IEM unit hooked on back pocket next to this unit which is hooked on my guitar strap about 4 inches away). Some have complained about the cable from the wireless transmitter to the guitar...I have had no issues with this yet, but if it is like ANY other cable, it will need to be replaced someday anyway. I use this unit in practices and two+ live performance per week. Batteries last about 4 hours on average for me. Transmitter that hooks to guitar strap is built like a tank, and is, therefore, a tad bit on the heavy side...but I'd rather have that than something cheap and light.

Comments about Line 6 Relay G50 Digital Wireless Guitar System:
Spending this much to replace a cord seemed crazy to me...but this one is different. It doesn't change your tone and it kills the hum! The only reason you'll ever need to spend more is to rack mount it. There are much more expensive units, but this one is as good. Buy this one.

Comments about Line 6 Relay G50 Digital Wireless Guitar System:
Buying a wireless unit is not fun. It is great to have and maximizes your performance, however it is like buying a furnace for your house. It's nice to be warm, but it's not as sexy as buying a new amp or guitar.
So, when I found this I held my nose and jumped in. I am very happy that I made this purchase at this price point.
The frequency selections are versatile enough that I have not had any interference problems. It has performed well at both clubs and festivals where there are several bands playing at once and other hazards.
The best part about it for me is that the receiver resembles the size of a pedal. It lives on my pedal board. Which is great cause I use different amps for different venues and don't have to be tied to a rack mount.
Additionally, the two outs are handy. I use the guitar line into my chain as implied and I send the tuner line to a TC helicon vocal harmonizer and other auxiliary effects.
Range is great.
It is digital. I cannot tell a difference between it and a cable.
I use it to practice when my rig is set up in my studio and battery life is reasonable in IMO.
If you have the dough at this price point, go with this product.
Two negatives. Well, more like irritants.
1) I had to replace the cable once after two years of consistent wear and tear. Which I am ok with.
You will not find a replacement via line 6.
Shure makes a replacement so I ordered two.
SHURE CAN PROVIDE BOTH STRAIGHT AND ANGLED.
2) The lettering on the transmitter wore off on mine fairly quickly. This of course won't affect the function. As I said I don't spend time thinking about my wireless, so going through the menus with out the function buttons being labeled can be tedious.
That is on me because I didn't take the time to completely familiarize myself with all the ins and outs. Once I got it zeroed in, I plugged it into my board and just cared about the on and off switch.

Comments about Line 6 Relay G50 Digital Wireless Guitar System:
Overall, this is a solid Wireless system at a decent price. The G50's transmitter/receiver is easy to set up, easy to use, and generally gets pretty good battery life. Also, the difference between the all metal design of the G50 vs the plastic of the G30 is a functionally relevant one - this thing can take a beating and keep going strong. If you're comparing the G30 to the G50, I say spring for the G50 just on the metal construction alone.
Unfortunately, not everything in the system is as durable. The plastic antennas are fragile - one of mine broke and exposed the wire after just a couple gigs (still works fine). The metal belt clip is sturdy, but not sturdy enough if you're the kind of performer who wants to move around a lot on stage (which for me, was the entire point of going wireless). I have repeatedly had the transmitter pop off my belt and fall to the floor, silencing my guitar. The cable itself also seems to have some reliability issues, mine has disconnected from the transmitter and cut off my sound. I'm not happy with these shortcomings, losing your sound during a set is annoying and embarrassing.
Lastly, the wide range of frequencies and 200 foot range is awesome and versatile. Not so sure about the "cable tone" feature though. All it seems to actually do is apply a low-pass filter to your signal, just in case you miss that notoriously muddy Line 6 tone. I tend to keep that "feature" off.
Overall, this is a great wireless system for the performer on a budget. Just be aware of the shortcomings, and if you move a lot, bring gaff tape and secure this thing to your strap.

Comments about Line 6 Relay G50 Digital Wireless Guitar System:
I bought this unit to allow me to practice while walking around my house. It frees me from being tethered to my gear. It also keeps my rig neat so I can keep everything ready to play without my wife complaining about the various effects pedals, signal cables and power cords laying about. As a side effect I have excellent tone and much less induced noise and 60 cycle AC interference. Ths unit is now one of my favorite guitar acquisitions.

Comments about Line 6 Relay G50 Digital Wireless Guitar System:
I've had other wireless systems and this one is miles beyond those FM ones in both clarity and lack of drop-outs. The signal is the best I've ever heard from any wireless and leaves nothing to be desired there.
It does, however, have a couple shortcomings:
1.) The cord that connects the transmitter to the guitar jack is flimsy and fragile. I've already had to replace the cord once (not cheap) and the replacement already has issues, too. I do gig with it 1 or 2 nights per week on average, and have had it a couple years so it does get a lot of use.
2.) It interferes with my Wireless-N router, so if I try to use it in my studio, I cannot use my iPad for connecting to music sites and so forth. Turn off the wireless, and the wireless network comes back up in a minute or two.
The positives here far outweigh the negatives, but you have to be real careful how you treat that cord and also just realize it's liable to conflict with any wireless network devices you might want to use concurrently with it.

Comments about Line 6 Relay G50 Digital Wireless Guitar System:
I have used this for over 6 months now. The first wireless I didnt give up on. I have owned several and never used them in concert as they would let me down at some point. Well built unit that delivers with ZERO issues. I wont go on and on but this wireless is well worth the dough. Sits on my pedal board and delivers 100%. No drop outs or interferance unless you walk a LONG ways! LOVE THIS WIRELESS!!!

Comments about Line 6 Relay G50 Digital Wireless Guitar System:
I've always loved the idea of being free of the tangled mess cords create and finally Line 6 gave that to me! No low frequency loss and no loss of tone. I bought the shure cable at the same time and have experienced no loss of connection throu about 20 hours of play. I also bought some recharchable batteries which work extremely well with the unit. It's simplyl a breeze to set up and being free to roam around is great!

Comments about Line 6 Relay G50 Digital Wireless Guitar System:
So far so good, simple to use. Literally plugged in and played 5 minutes before show , had never used it before, just plugged it in , turned it on and selected a channel. Sounded very good, no signal loss, played 2 one hour sets with no issues. I wish it was " bug" size transmitter, but it's not that bulky on your strap.

Comments about Line 6 Relay G50 Digital Wireless Guitar System:
I've had this unit for a few weeks now and have used it extensively with both bass & guitar. Very good tone & output gain with no drop-outs. I use a Pedal-Train board and the metal case for the receiver is a big bonus with that application; it feels very sturdy next to the rest of the stomps on the board. The only weak point to this unit is the mini 4-pin instrument cable that comes with the wireless. The 4-pin connection was weak out of the box (which I've heard multiple stories with same issue with this unit). I switched to a Shure instrument cable and no problems. So...my one suggestion when you order this wireless, be sure to add a Shure mini 4-pin to 1/4" instrument cable to the order. That'll keep you out of trouble right out of the box.
