OVERVIEW

Acclaimed Ultimate Ears technology.

Employing the same stage-proven Ultimate Ears technology relied on by major touring acts, the IE-30 professional reference earphones provide rich, high-definition monitoring for mobile recording/production and live performance—not to mention critical listening of all types
of music on the go. Dual precision-balanced armature drivers with integral crossover deliver more clarity, greater headroom and much wider frequency response than more expensive products from other manufacturers. 26dB of isolation further contributes to extraordinary detail
and incredible tonal balance. Professional ear loops secure the earphones in place while minimizing snags, while the included universal fit
kit ensures optimal comfort and isolation. The detachable 46" cable is even replaceable to extend the life of your investment.

Proven Ultimate Ears Technology
M-Audio professional reference earphones incorporate acclaimed Ultimate Ears technology—the same industry standard that has revolutionized live performance monitoring. Many of today's best-known touring artists and the sound engineers that make their concerts sound great trust Ultimate Ears for the utmost in comfort, accuracy and reliability.

Monitor Anywhere
M-Audio is synonymous with the mobile recording and production revolution. Now M-Audio IE professional reference earphones with Ultimate Ears technology give you high-definition monitoring on the go without lugging bulky, delicate headphones. They're perfect companions for any mobile studio—like a Pro Tools M-Powered laptop with Transit or other M-Audio interface. They're also ideal for field recording with compact units like the popular M-Audio MicroTrack 24/96. On stage, you can say goodbye to cumbersome monitors and feedback. And you can even use them to pimp your personal MP3 player for critical listening on the go.

Dual Precision-Balanced Armature Drivers with Crossover Network

The rich, full-spectrum sound of the IE-30 reference earphones owes much to the use of two separate high-definition, precision-balanced armature drivers for high/mid and bass frequencies. Armature drivers—the same technology used in premium custom earphones—delivers high efficiency, extended high frequencies and superb natural bass and are significantly smaller and more accurate than comparable dynamic drivers. The IE-30 audio crossover network routes each frequency of your music to the driver that can best reproduce it—exactly the same principle as used in the finest studio and audiophile monitor design. Patented dual-bore technology rounds out the equation by providing separate acoustic canals for each driver's output to deliver a wider sound stage and much fuller sound.

Superior Frequency Response
Without good frequency response, you're missing most of your music. The IE-30 XB delivers an amazing 20Hz-16kHz frequency response,
twice that of the closest competitor—and the IE models cost several hundred dollars less.

Universal Fit Kit for Superior Isolation and Comfort

Superior sound isolation (16dB) minimizes outside sound to deliver a purer listening experience—eliminating the need for a bulky pair of noise-canceling headphones. This also helps protect your ears because you don't have to crank up the volume to hear the detail in your music. All IE models include a universal fit kit to ensure optimal isolation and comfort for hours of high-quality listening pleasure. It includes an assortment of ear tips in different sizes and materials for a personalized fit for your ears.

Professional Ear Loops
The hanging cables in traditional designs can catch on nearby objects and cause the earpieces to loosen or pop out altogether. All IE models feature professional style loops that hook over and behind the ear to minimize that problem. And if your 46" detachable cable ever does become damaged, simply replace it instead of your earphones.

Included Attenuator/Limiter
The IE-30 earphones include an attenuator/limiter that conditions the high sound output of in-flight movie and music channels down to a comfortable listening level. The limiting function even spares your ears during loud in-flight announcements.

I also own the Shure SE310. I bought two pairs of IE30's for recording studio use, particularly for drummers. The IE30 sounds so much better and has a lot more bass. I also get a more comfortable fit with the IE30 than the Shure. However, the IE30 are fragile. The first pair, the clam shell housing fell apart, but I easily super glued them back together. The second pair, the drummer I was recording accidently yanked them out of his ears and one earphone broke at the stem above the removable jack. I was able to solder the very small wires back successfully and superglued the plastic stem. Now that the weather is cold, it seems that the left earphone - an earphone that has remained intact (never broken), has a thermal open in the bass transducer itself. It works when the earphone is warmed up to about body temperature. The IE30's are not built to normal professional handling standards in my opinion, but they do sound better than the Shure SE310 for the same price. However, the Shure SE310 are built better, but don't sound as good. For my purposes, I need a pair of phones that I can count on working. I will have to give the edge to shure for their more robust build.

I purchased these after my previous earphones were failing, and after hearing a buddies set. They sound great with excellent bass response - but only if they seal in the ear well. I can't recommend them: despite a couple hours of experiments with different insertions, and ear molds, they would not stay sealed in my ears for more than 30 seconds, even without any head movement.

Almost Perfect

By Anonymous

from Undisclosed

I'm a DJ/Producer/Remixer who still uses my Sony Mdr-700's for DJing, but wanted to find good quality earbuds for everyday listening on the iPod etc. After blowing out the Shure's i bought for around $100 I bought these after much research on ultimate ear technology. Plus side: Awesome sound, very even and uncolored, i actually hear more dynamics with theses then i can pick up with my Krk's. For the sound alone they are worth the investment. Minus side: the supplied tips are crap. Here is a tip to everyone, when i had purchased my Shure's i also purchased an extra bag of orange foam tips, that just so happen to fit on the end of the IE-30's, they are much better quality tips then the supplied grey foam tips, and the supplied plastic tips are absoultely junk, and will dislodge from your ear cannal with minimal persperation. All in all i love them, just make sure to get proper tips!

The best I have used in this price range

By Convivial1

I have used a lot of different monitors from Shure, Sennheiser, AKG, Future Sonics, etc. These are easily my favorite. I found them to be very robust even after torturing them extensively. They fit great, but you HAVE to follow the instructions for inserting them. My bass player had a pair and he could never figure it out (insert bass player joke here). For in-ear applications, these things sound terrific.

Awesome sounding earphones

By Speed-QWbFL

from CA

These little earphones sound even better than my Senheiser HD280PRO. The bass don't sound as boomy as my HD280PRO and yet still solid and clear. It also provides an excellent frequency response throughout the whole spectrum. Thank you M-audio. Now I don't have to look weird with those closed HD280PRO earphones. And plus I never have a fitting problem. The logos are supposed to be facing front while the cables gently wrapped around the upper ear. Fits me perfectly just with the medium sized plugs. The only thing I couldn't find was the L-Left and R-Right symbols on the earphones.

Awesome for the $

By StudioMan

Well, I'm sold, in ear monitoring is the ONLY way to go. These buds seem sturdy so far (only used then over 2 weeks & one gig so far), but the sound quality is what amazed me! I play bass, the dual drivers really do make a difference! I just ordered a set of the IE10's as a back up.. I'll NEVER go back to floor wedges again!

Hear and Feel the Bass

By Elijah-qnf8k

from Sacramento, CA

I used these after being very frutrated with the Shure Sclk-2. Shure ear monitors were a joke, and of course this stuff is not returnable... : ( or even exchangable, so there went $100. I play a 5-String bass, and those made it sound like I was playing a harp. Once I tried the IE-30, I felt like I'm playing the bass again. It sounds and feels like the sound is there, especially the low range is back! One thing with the IE-30 is that it's kind of uncomfortable to put them in and they don't stay in fit that good. Also kind of weird adjusting them around my ears. But maybe it's because I wasn't used to it. But soundwise, these are excellent. Kind of pricey thought....

Good Sound, Poor Fit

By Nikky G

from Bay Area, CA

SO these sound amazing and block out a lot of sound so they have such great potential for being great. But even with all of the different attachments it comes with, they come loose about every other song. IT is not that they are falling out, but they come lose enough to let in a lot of sounds and reduce the volume to make it difficult to hear. I shove them in deep and then come right out, even with different tips.Unless you are confident they will fit your ears, I would recommend something else because an in ear monitor is no good when it does not stay in your ears.

BUY THEM!

Nothing much to say, but buy these. These phones will out perform anything in the price point, and for that matter, even the higher priced items (Shure E5). For the money, you can not beat these

Wonderful Ear Buds

By Maule

from Milwaukee WI

I wasn't very sure about buying these when I did but I am very glad in the decision I made. I recently bought a psm200 that came with Shure E2's and they are okay maybe for listening to an iPod but they are nothing special. My sax player bought the IE-20's and loved them. I initially planned on buying the IE-20's but at last minute went with the IE-30's and the sound is even that much more amazing then the 20's over the E2's. The bass sounds as good as my 770 Pro-80 Studio Headphones. These are real nice at a very nice price. I originaly wasn't pleased with my purchase of the psm200 but after changing the buds I am very happy. The buds are a nice size and even though m-audio is new to this area the product seems well made and dependable.
