I bought these to get more serious about my psy trance mixing and they have been a great investment so far. I've had them for about 2 months now and I can already hear my mixing improving quickly. Now I can hear the smallest mistakes I make and when a mix is even slighly off key. If you sound good on these your set will be dynamite on a full size PA which covers up many minor mistakes DJs make due to having less fidelity. These are the least harsh of all the monitors I have auditioned in the price range. They are certianly not flat across the board and that is a good thing in my opinion. I hate the intense highs of similarly priced KRKs which are only suited to recording and not listening. And although I would never listen to rock music on these BX8s they are amazing for recreational listening with any type of electronic. They excell at trance but fall a bit short on warmth with house music. I don't have the sub so I cant comment on what potential they have for jungle. Some more adjustments would be nice such as a HF adjustment knob or a LF boost switch. Also I feel the sub is grossly overpriced and did not buy it. Nor do I feel it is needed with the BX8's but it would be a welcome addtional if the price was right. If you can grab these while on sale then I highly recomend them to any DJ that wants to step up and hear what he is really mixing.

These speakers were great for a year and a half to two years. Then all of the sudden one of the speakers starts to crackle. Shortly thereafter the other one starts to crackle. Now they're both useless and the warranty has expired. I will be contacting M-Audio to find out if they will repair the speakers or if they have parts so I can do so on my own.
I would not buy these again.

    Great Deal

    By Pete The Fish

    from Middletown, De

The set up was easy and within seconds, of apon opening the box they came in, I was getting studio quality sound. All the collaberations and beats that I have put together in the past on my old speakers sounded much different on the BX8as. Finally I could fine tune to perfection. These monitors have incredibly clear highs and just the right amount of bass. If you're thinking of buying anything in lower quality than this....DONT!!! Good monitors like the BX8a's are a MUST have for that professional sound.

    Not that accurate

    By soundguy-HXDD9

    from Denver

After listening to these montiors, I have come to the conclusion that you get what you pay for. They are great for people with a budget, but if you are serious about sound, please reconsider. The bass is a bit on the boomy end and the mids are kind of lacking for flat response. If you are using them for listening, they are a great with an EQ, but for mixing I would find something else.

I've had these now for over 2 years and they are great, LOUD, and don't fatigue my ears. I now have 2 pair, one for my DJ workstation and one for the PC recording workstation. I get good bass for spinning, I barely need to turn on the BX sub

    Ouch!

    By Nextierium

    from Lakeland, FL

I own the 1st generation BX-5s (and LOVE them)and I wanted the BX-8s to match but they no longer make them, so I purchased the BX-8a set and immediately returned them. The bass is tight and the mid range is good, but the highs are so overbearing it's painful. Everything you mix with these will sound dead.

    Just grest...

For home studio recording these are great. I do some home recording, but mostly jam and these work great with my setup (3 synths, drum machine and boat load of VSTs). When my friends come over they say it they sound great. Speakers are very accurate, though I haven't really done any voice recording. All in all, they are fantastic speakers for the price. These are pretty decent sized speakers, like a stack of VHS taples roughly, 2 deep and 10 high. All in all I'm very happy with the the high/mid sound and the POUNDING base it offers. BOOM, Tic-a-Tic, BOOM, BOOM.

After running my setup through a home stereo or computer speakers, upgrading to these was the best thing I could've done. The bass response is so deep and accurate, I'm completely amazed. I highly recommend these to anyone looking for great studio sound at a low budget cost.

    BX8a 130-Watt Bi-Amplified Studio Reference Monito

    By Wayne-IUSNt

    from Connecticut

This pair of monitors is an outstanding buy for the price. All of my mixes have been accurately translated when played back on consumer systems. The key is to have the studio room environment tailored to minimize reflections and allow the BX8a's to perform as designed. Highly recommended!

    Great sounding poor accuracy

    By Anonymous

    from Undisclosed

I've had these for 6 months now and they are not good for mixing at all. Anything I mix on these have way too much bass on any other system and way to much treble. Of course I can counter these by lowering those frequency's but then I wouldn't hear anythin on these speakers except for mids. I now just use these speakers strictly for tracking. Also, one of the speakers goes out every once in a while which is not good. Overall do not buy these speakers even though the build quality seems solid.

Best monitors in the price range! Highs are a bit too loud, but not as bad as others are saying. The mids and lows are perfect. I blew my first pair in 4 weeks, but that was due to running them way too high for long periods of time.

My wife bought these for Christmas one year cause she wanted to get something big for my home studio, and after a couple of what do you need in there questions she decided to buy these. They were awesome when I plugged them in and they are even better now cause they make me money in my studio.

    Impressed!

    By Non.Original

    from Pittsburgh

Lets keep it real. These are my first pair of studio monitors and I am more than pleased. I think I might have been happy enough with the BX5a's but wanted to make sure I was getting more than enough when I bought these. These babies have very good bass, mid and high response. If your ballin on a budget, buy these. You won't regret it.

I listened to these next to some Mackie HR824s's, and I was blown away. The mids were much better on the BX8A's. And I couldn't see paying a hundred or so more for ONE HR824. Outstanding product.

    A whole new sound experience!

    By Luis-lPol0

    from Puerto Rico

I just got these today for my Korg Triton Studio to replace my old 150W keyboard amp, and I have never hear my Triton sound so rich. I have them connected to a Behringer mixer and they are incredibly great for the price. I read other reviews talking about how they don't have controls to adjust the volume/treble/bass but usually you have these connected to a mixer. No problem at all with the bass output it sounds very good without additional sub-woofer. They rock my room, and excellent output for those low freq notes.I hooked up my Ibanez acoustic-electric guitar and the sound was very clean and good.

    Pretty Nice Man

    By XPhilip

I just hooked these bad boys up in my dorm and they sound good. The highs mids and lows are all perfectly balanced. I really dont know why others say that the highs are too harsh...I recommend these to anyone that needs precise monitoring in a home studio. They are pretty nice man. Get them.

    Unbelievable

    By StratMan420-BPpPI

I got these on sale at Guitar Center on sale for $300, but if I knew how awesome these sounded I would have paid the 500 a long time ago. The highs are crystal clear and the lows are very bassie but still also very clear, at least are good as ones costing 3 times as much.

    great

    By Freak i.v.

I score film among many other things. many of my friends that are professionals love these things as well as I. It all depends on your ear and what you like. I have to say I have had many monitors and I could hardly stand them for the reasons my head hurt after a short time. With these I can work all day with small breaks in between. These speakers dont lie i mix and master in them and when i go to my car or any other system what i did in the studio is what i get on the car stereo. you dont have to spend tons of money. You just have to know what your doing.

I bought a pair of these speakers a couple of years ago and mine are still going strong. They can get loud and have nice responsive bass. I would say for the money you can't go wrong. Try em out.
