Comments about M-Audio Studiophile CX5 Studio Monitor:
for the money they're hard to beat. I needed a more portable pair of monitors for my remote cottage and these fit the ticket. a few switches on the back help to customize them for the room. they take xlr, 1/4, and rca ins, and also work on 110/240 (for you travelers). a BIG step up from M-Audio's B-line. My regular monitors (in my bigger studio) are Mackie HR824 (the originals).
Comments about M-Audio Studiophile CX5 Studio Monitor:
I ended up with the Fostex PM0.4 Studio Monitors, excellent accurate response. If you want low oomph, get a subwoofer - but ya still should turn it off for real-world mixes.
These speakers, well ya get what ya pay for.
Studiophile?
HA HA HA!
Plenty of inputs
Doesn't cause cancer
I (fortunately) didn't buy these but auditioned them extensively in store before looking elsewhere. If you are the type that thinks BIG bass is really cool, dude, these are for you!
If you have actual discerning ears and want a flat response - as a studio monitor should have - walk away from these. They sound muddy with poor mid and high range definition. The freq. response chart confirmed it: boosted low response, inaccurate overall. Guaranteed to give you a lousy mix in the studio.
If cheap is all that matters, here ya go!

Best I have used, would buy again if I ever needed to.
Has all the inputs I could ask for, along with a few switches to tune them to your space.
Compared to the older M-audio monitors, these are incredible. I have replaced KRK RP-5's with these monitors. These have a better overall finish, and have a professional look.
I bought these at a great price. The monitors do not reflect this. These would be a value at twice what I paid for them. I feel like M-Audio knows this, as the list price is much higher than most in this price range when compared to actual selling price.

Bought a pair of these about 6 months ago. They sounded great. But all of a sudden the right speaker just stop working. I contacted M-Audio about bthis problem. But never heard from them. Terrible customer serevice and support. Have since got a pair of Mackie MR5. So far so good with these.

I was looking for a full range monitor. I was looking at a lot with 8" woofers. But they all sounded kinda muddy. Then I listened to these and they had full tight bass, exactly what I was looking for. Highs and mids sound great as well. These translate great. Perfect for me.
