OVERVIEW

M-Audio fidelity in portable active desktop monitors that won't break the bank.

M-Audio StudioPro 3 active desktop monitors offer powerful amplification, custom-tuned cabinets, optimized speaker design, and advanced crossover technology for the best possible sound. Magnetic shielding prevents StudioPro 3 audio monitors from interfering with your computer or video speakers.

Stereo Auxiliary Input and Headphone Output
In addition to the main RCA inputs in the back, for maximum flexibility the StudioPro 3 monitors' stereo aux input makes it easy to plug in a secondary audio source”such as your portable music player. The speakers' volume control works on both inputs simultaneously. Additionally, a stereo headphone output next to the aux jack mutes the speakers' sound and redirects it to your headphones.

Natural Bass
The M-Audio custom bass reflex port discharges very low-frequency signals and delivers smooth, substantial bass response. Need more? The rear-panel bass boost gives you additional low-frequency gain and makes the StudioPro 3 monitors flexible enough to perform well for different spaces and listening preferences.

Monitor Pads
High-frequency audio signals tend to be fairly directional. That's why M-Audio includes wedge-shaped monitor pads that assist you in placing your M-Audio StudioPro 3 units directly at your ears for an optimal listening sweet spot.

Speaker Enclosure
M-Audio StudioPro 3 speakers provide a more stable performance with a special medium-density fiberboard (MDF) and unique interior reinforcement that absorbs vibration and impact generated under extreme conditions. Carefully placed acoustic material makes StudioPro 3 monitor's sound much bigger than they are”resulting in smooth, natural bass response.

M-Audio includes a pair of angled isolation pads with each set of StudioPro 3 desktop audio monitors.

The 1st thing to get your head around is that these are NOT professional studio monitors (despite what the packaging says)! These are desktop computer speakers that are good for listening to music while you geek out. I have these hooked up to my laptop which I do most of my life admining on. I would not use these for any sort of real referencing or for mixing but they can serve a purpose as a computer speaker sanity check station. If you want real monitors for real mixing, spend real money. If you want to buy a decent prosumer computer desktop speaker system, this is a value worth considering for a birthday present or for asking Santa to bring for christmas.

These are really nice monitors; if your a novice to home recording. If your just getting started or have limited space, then these speakers work well. They have a flat response (which is what you want), but lack fidelity and have limited bass response. But, they're great for folks such as myself who just want to get their feet wet and do some non-professional home recording. They come with some nice stands and vibration pads. They are easy to set-up and they are just right for my application, and at this price, they're well worth it. As I said, if your looking to build a "pro-level" studio, then your want better monitors than these. But if your like me; a novice or have limted funds and or space-the M-AudioPro 3's are a great place to start.

Comments about M-Audio StudioPro 3 Desktop Audio Monitors:

Here's the deal...After reading many reviews on this product, I thought I'd share my own. I read a lot of reviews saying how horrible the sound is and that you can't use them for mixing down on a recording project--I'd have to say that is dead wrong. Unless you're writing something fully electronic that requires a lot of bass, then these are fine. If you are like me and writing metal, while on a serious budget, then they work. I used these to write/record a split album. However, I would not suggest buying these for any purpose. They took dump within just a couple years. First, the little plastic plate in the front left speaker completey pulled out from using the Aux. input and so I literally had to take the entire speaker apart and push the crappy Aux/Phones ends back through to the plate and super glue everything back together. Then the right speaker started going out shortly thereafter. Now the right speaker is completely dead. They served their purpose and I think they sound okay, but spend a little more money or buy something else. Sorry M-Audio, you FAIL.

They sound really bad.

Comments about M-Audio StudioPro 3 Desktop Audio Monitors:

I mean, they're speakers. They'll let you hear stuff. Beyond that, not really worth anything. I got them used on here for like 50 bucks, and I still feel like I overpaid. They sound tinny, like ten dollar computer speakers from radio shack. Right now I'm using them to stream music to a room where I don't listen to music often. I.e., I don't use these speakers. Not a good purchase, and not good sound. No warmth, no character, save the money and buy the cheap radio shack speakers. You'll get the same sound.

Comments about M-Audio StudioPro 3 Desktop Audio Monitors:

Overall I would say save your money. I would rather get a stereo boombox from Wal Mart than using these un-accurate desktop speakers. Don't think about investing into monitors unless your willing to spend more
A cheap bass boost switch that doesn't make much difference, & cheap aux/headphone ports on the front.
I'm pretty sure when M-Audio says "10 Watts" they mean at peak power right before you blow the fuse & fry the dang things. I would say if you listen to music at low levels most of the time, then these would last you several years, but if you like loud music, buy the gold coverage.
You get what you pay for though.

Comments about M-Audio StudioPro 3 Desktop Audio Monitors:

I have a set of larger M-Audio monitors in my studio, and I like their sound. These were offered as a "Stupid Deal" at a very reasonable price. They are a good improvement over typical computer speakers, but lack a strong low end. I feel that I got what I paid for. I don't abuse my equipment, so I expect them to last for years. I play CDs and videos through my computer and find these speakers to be very acceptable. For the price, I wasn't expecting a true studio monitor.

              Extremely Disappointed

Comments about M-Audio StudioPro 3 Desktop Audio Monitors:

I actually purchased these a few years ago but finally decided to write a review due to my distaste. At the time of purchase most of the reviews were positive. These monitors had a great sound for the price and I enjoyed them while they lasted. However, after just a few months of moderate and stationary use - the right monitor completely went out. I ruled out everything, cabling, power, audio source, audio jacks, etc. All testing pointed to the right monitor. I recently looked up comments about this problem from many online resources and there are dozens, if not hundreds, of people who experienced the exact same issue - The right speaker dying. M-Audio support doesn't manufacture or sell parts for these monitors anymore so all you can do is send them into their repair offices for a hefty price. M-audio knows these monitors have a consistent defect yet don't care to even acknowledge it. I hereby am expressing my dissatisfaction for these monitors and especially M-audio.

Comments about M-Audio StudioPro 3 Desktop Audio Monitors:

I know people have said theres been problems with these but for me theyve been amazing no matter what the level of how loud i play them. Theyve been great for me no flawsat all. Theyve never been crickly or had bad sound quality. Both speakers ive turned up all the way and put bass boost up theyve just been great no problems at all. I absolutely love them and for the price theyve been great. I use them for mixing on occasion as well as just casually listening to music. The powers been great and i can either plug them through an interface or just straight into the computer. I love the other features on them such as the aux in being able to plug my Ipod into them as great. I also love the other feature of plugging my headphones straight into them. All in all these are great for the price ive had no problems and i dont believe you will either.
