I bought this from Dominican Republic, to start I ended up Paying more due to the shipping cost and stuff, when I opened the monitors the volume tuner was not in place (still haven't been able to fix it), in general this monitors are good enough for the price, the sound is clean, no much bass, however they do good for beginners, if you are in USA or Canada I would advise to save a bit more and buy something definitive, this will require an upgrade very soon.

Set them up, no fuss, no muss...used them 3 weeks of intermitent use (1-2 hours 2x week)then they sat unused for 2 months. When I returned, I flipped them on and they were doing fine. I used them for a few months without incident then they died on the vine. I think M-Audio warrants their products for a year so I gave them a call and was going to return them, however the next day before I took them down I flipped on the power and they worked fine. Again I left town for 2 months and when I came back they were fine, the next 3-4 months I used them they made some high pitched, low volume sound for the first 5 min, then they were ok. I never had a good feeling about them as far as dependability, one day the left monitor just quit, so being the resourceful person I am, I ran left and right channels to the live one until I went out and bought a set of Alesis monitors. I watched the trashman do a jig the day he saw them on the pile -maybe he only hears out of one ear.

M-Audio StudioPro4

By Anonymous

from Undisclosed

The studiopro4's are excellent speakers very duriable. The low's are low and high's are high for crystal clear tweeters. Depends on what type amp you using or signal the unit works very well with laptop computers and cable signals.

eek!

By FP

When I first got these speakers I really enjoyed the range I could get with them yet like many others I found they had some serious flaws. They are prone to hiss. They also can't get the sound of a mix together. I would mix things and on the speakers they would sound great but then bounce to disc and it sounds like crap. Granted pro tools does that anyways they still weren't that great. Then they just stopped working after a year and I threw them out.

Completely Worth it!!

By Kaotix

I love these speakers!!!!! They are perfect for computer musicians on a tight budget. No, they do not provide enough bass, if thats what your looking for, but if you need some studio monitors that sound professional, but don't cost hundreds of dollars, this is what your looking for. I'd say you definitely get what you pay for in this case.

Questionable Quality

By No Mo-Audio

from Minneapolis

Great sound (for the price) but The first problem was the cheap cable that came with the speakers. This started buzzing whenever I looked at it wrong. I replaced it with a generic one and things were fine until the right speaker started hissing loudly (sometimes with a stutter). I know it's the speakers because even when disconnected from a source, the problem remains (power supply?). Anyway, these have had very little use, but I've owned them for over a year, so I guess I'm stuck now looking for a replacement (with will obviously be a different brand).

You can do better!

By Josh K

from Minneapolis

I previously gave these speakers a favorable review, but in the months following I've grown more and more unhappy with them.I was never able to get an accurate mix with them, which almost certainly had something to do with the room, but I've done much more with much less. There's just a certain undeniable suckiness to the Studio Pro 4s. They're super flabby in the mid-range, lack some highs, and have no "punch." Get something else.

I changed my ratings and realize I didn't put that I own them. In it's price range, they are great. Great to get started or to save some $$.

$150 Aint bad....

By Trukstop

from Pioneer, OH

This really isn't a bad set of monitors. I've tested many, and my band has a more expensive KRK pair. These can't be beat at this price. If you're getting into recording, or are just a weekend warrior, go for it. Secondary editing stations or PC gamers could benefit from these. They only have RCA line in, and not much for crossovers. Not bad.

M- Audio can do better

By Stratoblaster

from Nashville

We have used these speakers. I also own the SP-5B and use them as near field monitors. As usual, with this model, M Audio sounds pretty good. THey have a bad habit of using speakers rated just barely (4 w) above the RMS value of the set. No headroom. Try getting replacement parts for a blown speaker. Last time took me 8 phone calls. Customer support is pretty indifferent to such matters. I like the products, except for not observing sufficient headroom for the servicing RMS rating. And the poor customer support is a problem. Next time I will choose another brand.
