I have one of these for my small portable live sound system. I bought it used from a guy who was selling off some of his gear. It fits pretty much anywhere, and it will take pretty much anything you throw at it. I've used it as a recording mixer, a live mixer, and as a DI box in a pinch, still sounding fantastic at each task. I've only had one problem with it, channel 1 was intermittent, apparently due to a bad solder joint under the trim knob. I shipped it off to Mackie and got it back fixed under warranty four days later! It's a solid little mixer, it has been kicking around my projects for four years now. It has even tumbled down a flight of stairs only to hit a concrete floor, surviving with only a mere edge paint scratch. Mackie's "Built Like a Tank" reputation lives up to its name!

I bought a Mackie 1202-VLZ PRO Micro Mixer about three years ago and have regretted the purchase ever since. It now sits gathering dust and is useful only as a door stop. My primary complaint is the noise the unit generates. Each of the volume pots (and virtually every other pot, for that matter) produces substantial noise with every adjustment. The unit is simply unusable. I of course contacted Macke several times but was told each time that the pots were "sealed" and were thus not able to be repaired. I was told, and I quote, to "twist the pots several times stop-to-stop" to eliminate the noise. Needless to say, this did nothing besides exercising my wrist. Having said that, if you don't mind buying a product that generates excessive noise and then dealing with a company that has no intention of backing its products, then by all means buy a Mackie 1202-VLZ PRO Micro Mixer.

Swiss Army knife

By Stratman-7pynq

This micro board can be used for just about anything. The mic pre's are excellent...totally pro quality. Routing options let you do pretty much anything you want. Loud headphone amp. I use this for home studio, live sound...anything. You can get less expensive stuff from Behringer, etc., but once you try this board you'll know that this is the real deal and the others are not quite up to snuff. This thing is heavy and clearly built to last a long time. If you're looking for a small board, you can't do better than this. I love this 1202.

The ultimate all purpose portable mixer. I use it for P.A., recording, mixing, even as a phantom power unit!

Good

If you are comparing this one to Behringer or some others, then you are wasting your time. It's kinda expensive, but worth it. I'm sure that you will love its mic-pre.

WORKHORSE!

By HUTCH-2K5fc

from Chico, CA

Have used this mixer without any worries/problems for a number of years. Pro player for 48 yrs, use with SRM450's and/or SWR CA.BLND.II. Great reproduction, both vocal and instrumental, over a large tonal spectrum - accepts and distributes outside effects flawlessly to each channel - noise free - "Anvil tough" for constant packing - any serious gigging musician would do well to have this 'lil guy in his/her arsenal.

The best compact mixer

By Lazlo Losla

from Mexico City, Mexico

I was deciding on which mixer to buy for my band, and since we are still students we had to find something inexpensive but not lacking of quality. Mackie was the answer. We have been using it in our live gigs with great results. and the alt 3/4 outputs are very useful for recording on four different tracks. It's like having a four bus console! More preamps would be cool, but for the price, I really believe mackie made the best compact mixer ever.

I love this mixer, Ryan Skipper

I have always wanted a Mackie but was unable to afford the ones I wanted since I am so poor. I have a small project studio attached to my garage, this mixer puts the power to control every mic, stereo and live sound piece of equipment from one unit. I like that ability. I recommend this product to anybody.

Simply amazing for the money...

A few months ago I was looking to set up my own tiny home/pc reording studio. I bought the Mackie 1202vlzpro. I am very happy with it and its easy-to-use interface. The mic preamps are amazing! Also, the mixer is extremely versatile. The only slight problem is that the EQ sometimes lacks the warmth you would like to hear...only in certain situations though...but for the price, this is the BEST in its range.
