Comments about Mackie CFX20 mkII Mixer:
Great board with lots of inputs that works very well for our band. Sound is better than any boards we have used previously. If I had one critisism it is that none of the in/out selector switches are lighted and in a dark room or well lit room for that matter it is very hard to tell any of the switch positions. This can be a problem if you are not careful when setting up and making changes on the fly. With just this one small improvement my rating would be even higher.
Comments about Mackie CFX20 mkII Mixer:
I upgraded to the CFX-20 from a Behringer PMP-3000 about a month ago and have been overwhelmed with the vast improvement. Very musical, lots of headroom, well laid out, more than enough inputs for what I need. For a small club on a budget, I couldn't recommend anything else.
Comments about Mackie CFX20 mkII Mixer:
I've worked with a number of Mackies including the CFX12 CFX16 and the CFX20 and they're all great couldn't ask for better. When I first started working with sound this series was the first I worked with and it was phenomenal. I will always recommend this to anyone from beginner to experienced pro its great.
Comments about Mackie CFX20 mkII Mixer:
I bought this board when the band I started was playing bigger venues and needing more channels. I think I am a Peavey person at heart but the store I shop at spoke very highly of this particular unit. I brought it home and my wife and I set it up and tried to familiarize ourselves with connections and settings. We used the owner?s manual and the following night we played. My wife does our sound and she found it to be quite easy to get the sound we wanted and there are plenty of adjustments and channels for what we want and need, 4 vocals, 1 bass, keyboard, sax, drums and 3 guitars. This board works flawlessly and will not part with this board. I did buy an ATA case for it to keep it safe.
Comments about Mackie CFX20 mkII Mixer:
I use alot of mackie products and this is one of the best mixers ever built. I was looking forward to a powered amp from behringer cause i didnt want to buy a separate power amp but after using it for over 2 months, its totally worth it. The effects on here are pretty tricky for first timers so watch out but you should get used to it. If you have drum mics and you want to hook them all up, go with this mixer. It can handle anything. I have 7 mics for drums 3 guitars 3 mics and some other stuff and this mixer is great for those who need alot of inputs. If you're a gig type of person this is a good mixer for gigs but then remember to get a case for it. Keep is nice and in good shape so it lasts long. It deserves it.
Comments about Mackie CFX20 mkII Mixer:
This is our churches first system, though I've run the bigger Mackie boards before(vlz 24/4)My biggest beef right now, is that with a totally new system, brand new SM58 mics etc, the gains have to be turned almost the full way up to produce a suitable signal.I don't believe this should be.I'm currently researching alternative dynamic mics that may work better.Other thaqn that, she's exactly what I had hoped: great sounding & easy to use!Love Mackie.
Comments about Mackie CFX20 mkII Mixer:
This is a good mixer that I got 2 years ago for a cantata choir that I do sound for. This board is OK for live use but it does better in recording largely because of the studio grade pre-amps and the lack of aux sends, however a very nice board for small live shows and recording.
Comments about Mackie CFX20 mkII Mixer:
I purchased this mixer as my first real mixer, not knowing a lot about mixers but doing a lot of research. I choose it for the money and the number of available features and inputs. After using it for a couple of months and learning what everything does, I am moderately happy with my purchase except for a couple of features. The mic pre-amps seem to need a lot of gain. For most of my drum mics, I need to turn up the gain at least 3/4 of the way up or more to get a good signal. The one thing I didn't learn when researching this mixer is that the aux sends are post EQ, which means that all of the stage monitors are EQ'd from the channel strip. A pre EQ send would allow the use of a separate EQ for monitors if desired, while still having the option to EQ your mains per channel. This produces a lot of feedback in the monitors that don't need to be EQ'd. It would be really nice to adjust the EQ to get a good sound for the mains and run the monitors without the same EQ settings. All in all, this is a great value for the money if you are on a budget, 20 channels, built in EQ, built in effects, etc. I will probably upgrade to the new VLX3 series which have pre-EQ aux sends and use a separate EQ and effects unit for the mains.
Comments about Mackie CFX20 mkII Mixer:
I actully own the older model CFXx20 mixer but it is exactly the same except for some cosmetic differences. So far it seems to be a very good and simple to operate mixer. The layout is very good and it looks more expensive than it is. I use it in a live sound setting(I am a sound man). The internal effects are super, especially the reverbs as they add a sparkling kind of sizzling highs to your vocals. The channel EQ's are very responsive and the mid shift can give a killer sound to the lead guitar. I looked at many mixers before deciding on this and am glad I did. It is super quiet and has many hook-up options. If this ever bites the bullet(I doubt it ever will) then I will surely buy another Mackie.
Comments about Mackie CFX20 mkII Mixer:
A great mixer for the money. I don't know that it can be beat in it's class. Gain structure is great. Tone is excellent. Faders smooth. Patching is great. I like the control room out flexibility. The EQ actually works well and the effects are the best onboard effects I have ever heard (behringer and carvin I have used before). I find the sub out very useful. Negatives: The mixer should have consistant i/o wiring. Either be all xlr or all balanced quarter inch. Most snakes for this leverl of mixers are either one or the other so one has to use adapters to make this work. I have installed a dozen or more of these the last few years, owned a couple myself all without any problems.
