OVERVIEW

Digital mixing from your iPad through the Lightning connector.

The DL1608L is a 16-channel mixer with revolutionary wireless iPad control that makes any live sound engineer's job and workflow much more enjoyable and exciting. This latest version of the series features a Lightning connector, replacing the 30-pin version. The Lightning connection is smaller and faster than 30-pin. The "L" delineation in the model name indicates the Lightning connector.

With 16 high-quality Onyx microphone preamps, 24-bit Cirrus Logic AD/DA converters, and powerful internal DSP processing, the DL1608L has plenty of unmatched hardware power to support the extremely intuitive user interface of the iPad. There is an iPad dock built-into the unit should you choose to use it in it's standard mixing form, or you can simply pop the iPad out of the dock to freely move about the venue to adjust your mix at will with the use of an additional Wi-Fi router. You'll have Full hands-on control of audio level, 4-band EQ, compression, gate, delay, reverb, and more for each of the DL1608's 16 channels and master fader. Perfect for a wide variety of smaller applications and venues, the DL806 is the most modern, powerful utility mixer available. Forget bulky consoles and racks of gear. The power is at your fingertips.

Comments about Mackie DL1608L Lightning 16-channel Digital Live Sound Mixer w/ iPad Control:

The Onyx mic preamps are nice and warm. Digital can be harsh but these sound great. The ability to mix each monitor, built in effects, wireless iPad control, snapshots of settings for every room we play, it's just awesome. This will not disappoint. FOH sound is stellar and the clubs we play are lathering on the compliments. If you are a gigging band with some talent then I highly recommend this set up. The Mackie DL1608, a couple killer powered subs and tops and you I promise you the clubs and other bands will take notice! Well done Mackie.

Comments about Mackie DL1608L Lightning 16-channel Digital Live Sound Mixer w/ iPad Control:

The horrible service completely destroyed my trust in Mackie who otherwise made a pretty decent product.

The Mackie DL1608 was a great product that upgraded our flexibility to adapt to different situations and was super easy to use. The visual controls and the ability to see things as they happen made mixing a breeze. However, the unit ran super hot and during the summer months, the gain control knobs in certain areas started to have issues. We put it in for warranty service on 12/1 and the service center got warranty repair authorization on 12/5. Parts were ordered on 12/6 after I called to check on the status. I continued to call every week since. When parts still hadn't arrived on 12/26, I called Mackie's customer service line and got a promise that they would send out the parts immediately. Called back on 1/9 and the part was still in "Picking" status but they promised it should be out that day or the next. Part didn't arrive at service center until 1/16 and repair supposedly started on 1/17 but they still haven't fixed it as of 1/19. I was out of my main mixer for two entire months during the busiest time of the year trying to get a single part ordered and replaced and I'm still waiting. Mackie, your horrible service has cost you a repeat customer and I hope many others will think twice before purchasing from you.

Comments about Mackie DL1608L Lightning 16-channel Digital Live Sound Mixer w/ iPad Control:

It took me a year to get the band to buy in to a digital mixer and used it just for practice. WE finally took the leap and use it on live shows. It took my sound guy a little bit to learn the software but once he did we were off to the races. Sold the 100' snake, analog Mackie Board, effects rack, and even the cross over. 6 aux sends are just awesome and use one of the sends as a sub out. The software takes some study but once you get the hang of how it operates like a breeze. Our overall monitor mix is very enhanced with the effects added to the mixes for each member. I have just gone in ears and the sound quality is awesome with the just right amount of delay and reverb to them. Our FOH is spectacular and we are getting the compliments from fans, clubs, and musicians. I always attribute it to the 1608. I did get the extended warranty with MF as they will replace it rather than repair it. That means a new on one the way in 2 days. Im not a warrant fan but when I was told how it works how could I not. If your sick of lugging all that analog equipment then this is the mixer I would get. Many bands I know are using it with no issues. I did get a Apple router for it and have 3 I Pads hooked to it for our shows.
