All-new professional transducers
MRmk2 Series studio monitors feature all-new professional transducers specifically designed to meet the demands of the modern project studio. The neodymium magnet-driven silk dome tweeter is both smooth and accurate, featuring ferro-fluid cooling to help protect against power compression during wide dynamic playback. The hyperbolic curved cone woofer, inverted dust cap, and long voice coil windings work in tandem to deliver smooth, consistent output with controlled low frequency performance. When paired with Mackie’s precision-tuned amplifiers, MRmk2 monitors provide spot-on input-to-output tuning that you can take to the bank.
Precision power amplifiers
The dual precision Class A/B amplifiers have been re-voiced to specifically match their new driver components, ensuring that your sound is minimally impacted by distortion, artifacts or changes in frequency response often imparted by working at a variety of volume levels. MRmk2 Series monitors are a 2-way design that offers up to 150 watts of total system power. Custom waveguide and baffle
An optimally-sized custom waveguide is designed to maximize sonic clarity and dispersion, while also serving to minimize diffractions. Everything even down to the cabinet design of MRmk2s are handled with the utmost attention to detail. I have to respond to the one whom said these monitors are not transparent now I don't work for MACKIE but I have to defend them on this one so here we go first thing first Is your room treated? thats all I'm saying because a pair of high end monitors costing thousands more will sound horrible if the room is untreated bass trap my friend and put it above the mix position between the wall and cieling Auralex cloud over head plus L/R walls(mirror trick) and wall(focus position)or better yet if the budget permits getchoself a ERGO and one bass trap along with all above then come back and write a reveiw like me one word Amazing!And to all that don't have these yet (in my Japaneez voice) HURRY! UP! AND! BUY!

The sound of this speakers are incredible, pure and crisp for the money you can't go wrong. The only complain that I got is not about the sound is about other things, like: 1) the speakers does not come with "Rubber Feet" I set my on top of my desk and the same day I put it up they get scratch, so purchase a rubber Feet on the local hardware store before you set your monitors. (Make sure you get the rubber one because this speakers are heavy) 2) The power cord should be on 90 degree angle instead of straight, I can't put it close to the wall because of the power cord, I have to set a gap of 4" between the wall and the speakers because of the power cord. (I probably replace the power cord for an angle one). Beside those two things these speakers are the best you can get. Period!

I have these and have used them in my home studio. I have 4 projects currently on iTunes that I mixed with these.
I love them. They have been fantastic for me and meet my needs. However, don't kid yourself and think these are going to give you a level playing field against bigger studios. These are not truly transparent and I have had to fix some things after I thought my mix was finished.
THE GOOD NEWS is that if you spend enough time mixing on the same set of speakers, you will learn what frequencies to boost or cut so that it translates onto any system well.
This last mixing project came out sounding better than others and came together much faster because I've learned my Mackie MR5's better.
So, just know that these speakers sound great and will work great for you, but they will require you to mix with inaccuracies in mind.
For the money, there is nothing better!

I have listened to several different brands of monitors to accompany my Tascam Dp-03. These Mackies perform extremely well. They have excellent bottom and they don't distort. They convey the actual sound which you will hear from the recorder to your media with little to no variation. I do like all the different cable options which you can use with these speakers so no matter what you are using them for you will be able to connect easily to the speakers. Overall quality and sound are excellent. I would recommend these speakers.

Overall theseMackie MR5mkII monitors are Perfect for the Home studio that is on a budget, but wants the best sound for this price range. IMO these sound better than the M-Audio.Mackie Mr5mkII have plenty of power and I used for just about 6 hours straight doing some dubs and finall mixes and did not seem to fatigued at the end of the day!
Multiple Input options , Plenty of crisp top end and Kickin bottom end , Great Tone thru the whole EQ range!
These are built with Excellent quality construction , Hey they from Mackie and Mackie just makes great Stuff Period!

overall this is an exceptional quality studio monitor for the right price. they sound amazing, and are versitile enough to be used across a variety of setups, from professional recording studio to home project studios. bottom line : you will not be dissapointed.
input controls are simple and intuitave. frequency pads are easy to use and great for adjusting the sound for your situation. also liked the option for trs, xlr, or rca inputs.
speaker design is solid. isolation is outstanding and the sound baffling is top notch. great frequency response to all ranges, rich powerful bass and smooth, clear high end.
the price is right.

I bought these from my local guitar center and just felt compelled to review these on every page i could find to do so. I walked in expecting to walk out with KRK Rokit's but low and behold the guru at guitar center said WAAIIIITTTT check these out. after hearing one of my own mixes thru these bad boys i could actually hear the mistakes i had found when i played the mix in my car. so i get them home and remix the track replay it in my car and voilla problem solved. while these may not be the best monitor in the world, they ARE the best for any home or project studio and theyre affordable.

Fantastic set, I had the M-Audio BX5A and these blow those away, and I thought they were the heat until I heard the Mackies.
Keeping it simple and tight, these monitors are right on point.
Constructed like you would expect from Mackie, Sound clarity and bass boom are at the top. Looks like high end monitors and performs just as well.
No question, more bang for the buck than any othe monitor in its class and size.
