When you're serious about making great recordings, but don't have a big-time budget; The Mackie MR8 Reference Monitors will give you professional quality tools to reference your mix with. Bottom line is for your mix to translate well. And yes they do sport the power, clarity, and sound quality that you would expect from a name like Mackie.
I bought a pair recently and right out of the box the tweeter on one of them does absolutely nothing. No sound at all. I switched cables, moved from channel to channel and the amplifier does not seem to be working on the highs. The low frequencies were also very weak. I got a bum monitor. I will be returning it for a replacement that is the same because the one that does work sounds excellent. I just can't see how a company like Mackie could miss something like this. Usually, if you buy anything Mackie you expect the utmost in quality. Disappointing.
I got one of this (mackie mr8) and when I hook up everything, mixer(mackie), stage(roland rd300sx)piano, pro mic and roland td-6 sound awesome, perfect sound that I've been looking for, it blows me away and satisfied me.The only problem I encounter is, when I am playing I here buzz and thought its just the set up, but when I removed the xlr connection and just leave the power on, nothing is connected just the power to test it, it's freak me out I still hear the buzzing sound, I turn down all the volume at the back of the cabinet the buzz still there, I put my ear in the cabinet and the buzz is inside the cabinet, I'm confused that time, so what I did I hook up mixer alone and turn up the volume up the middle and the buzzing sound is going up to, so to check this I went the other store and buy another one same mackie mr8 to test and compare, and when I plug the new one it freaks me out again they make buzzing sound without anything connected to them. I a'm going to return this and and might get a new one but different brand I think..
