Comments about Mackie PPM1012 12-Channel 1600W Powered Mixer:
Been working with powered heads and two speakers on stick for years at all of my small gigs. Then larger gigs would get my soundcraft board out and have to re-wrap my mind around it. This powered board is laid out similar to a real board and allows greater flexibility. I like the LPF atenuated crossover ability and atenuated level for mixing in the subs. The dual effects are great; and gain on each channel is perfect.

I use this to power 2 or 4-elite 10's with 2-NS720 subs. I run a variety of acts...all sound great. Nice effects.

Comments about Mackie PPM1012 12-Channel 1600W Powered Mixer:
This power amp's best quality is that you can use two effects at the same time and control each effect individually. You can use the built in amps for smaller gigs and then add amps to power more speakers for larger gigs. Also nice is the built in compressor on each vocal channel.
Comments about Mackie PPM1012 12-Channel 1600W Powered Mixer:
With all the talk about this giving you 800W per channel, it's not very loud at all. That's because when you read into the specs by Mackie, it's 250W RMS per side at 8 ohm, which isn't enough to power many 8 ohm PA cabinets. It's 400 per side RMS at 4 ohm. So, I don't really get why they keep on touting it being 1600 watts, because it's not really that loud at all, and you don't get 1600 usable watts. It sounded lame with efficient cabinets like the EV SB122, ZX4, and ZX1. Plugged it into a bass cab, and it was just weak.It has nice features, and sounds OK. But the power section is dismal. It's still large and heavy, and it still doesn't get the power a band needs. You're better off saving your money and getting something else. I used it's built in DI feature to plug in an acoustic guitar. The faders were almost maxed, and it still wasn't as loud as my little combo guitar amp. Plugged a bass into it, and the tone was wimpy and dead. Even with a seperate DI, the power section couldn't push any air. Tried vocals, and you'd probably be pushing the faders well past 0 db if you have any stage volume at all. The sound is OK, but the power is not there. I'm not in a Metal band or loud rock band, so if I say it's not loud enough, it's really is. For anything other than a small gig, or using extremely super efficient 4 ohm cabs, this thing won't cut the mustard. Mackie/Loud Tech should be more honest and say that it's 400W RMS per side at 4 ohms. 800 per channel is BS, and it's not loud at all. The specs are misleading, and there's products with less wattage rating that will do a better job. Highly unrecommended. I sent it back
Comments about Mackie PPM1012 12-Channel 1600W Powered Mixer:
i just got this board and had a chance to use it with the band last night.5 vocal mics, electric drums,2 acoustic guitars, mandolin, and keyboards. bass player plays out of his bass amp(he likes it that way) we where very happy with the results we got. the board has enough power to power the jbl jrx115 15" unpowered speakers.we used powered speakers,"which have the same specs as the jbl's but are powered" as our monitors and are happy with the results! i still need to keep tweaking it a bit to find the best configuration for us but, that will come in time.all and all this board has a lot to offer.
