Mistake in design; bad power supply

By Viktor Belogurov

Comments about Mackie SRM450 v2 Active PA Loudspeaker:

I own a Mackie SRM450 v2 loudspeakers. They are good speakers but have a bad power supply. I am a service man and have had to fix a couple of them already. They all had the same problem. After 2 or 3 years of use the power supply dies out. If used lightly or once in a while they are fine but for long and serious use they are no good.

Lousy Customer Service From Mackie

Comments about Mackie SRM450 v2 Active PA Loudspeaker:

Purchased a pair of these and they sounded great right up until one burned out. Although they have been out less than 2 years on market Mackie refuses to repair since Ex left and all the paper work for speakers went with her. Terrible customer service, wrote letter to Mackie never even received a response. NEVER BUY MACKIE

Great multi-purpose speaker!

Comments about Mackie SRM450 v2 Active PA Loudspeaker:

I have a pair of these, 2 pairs of the 350's, and a Mackie mixer and I love all of it. I have read alot of bad reviews for these speakers and I really think it boils down to people not knowing what distortion is, and when to back off on the gain. You know the guy riding down the street in his Cadillac blasting some loud music through his stock speakers and the whole car sounds like it's going to fall apart? To him that sounds good, to people who know better, that equals blown speakers and crappy sound. These are great as small mains or stage monitors. They will not shake the dance floor, but they are not designed for that. Use subs for bass people c'mon!!! Use 4 of these in a large club with 100+ people in it, be reasonable and these speakers will never let you down!

Comments about Mackie SRM450 v2 Active PA Loudspeaker:

at the store with music play back they sound just fine, but when we used them for our dance band for just vocals they would break up, when all four of us would harmonize together, they had a bad rumbling distortion noise some where around 200-350 hz. We use 4 of them on stands. The first pair of JBL eon,s we purchased years ago had some of the same issues. We want our Cerwin Vega int-152,s back. They are also missing the warm tone of the wood enclosure and dont go as loud either. Easy set up, nice mobility, just a little disappointed.

Not really worth the money

By Dad Loves Toys

Comments about Mackie SRM450 v2 Active PA Loudspeaker:

The original SRM450 has been around forever so when this one came out I was expecting great things. I'll have to keep waiting because the (really) minor sound improvements aren't worth the extra money - especially now that everybody is blowing out original SRM450's for under $500. My feeling is that when you get into the $750+ range you should be getting a much higher level of performance. There are other speakers out there that WAY outperform these. Yes, they weigh a few pounds more but the proof is in the listening. If you A/B these against other offerings I think you'll agree.

Comments about Mackie SRM450 v2 Active PA Loudspeaker:

This system blows most others right out of the water. My friend has owned his mackie system for 5 years and has NEVER had a problem. Best Pa on the market, hands down.

Comments about Mackie SRM450 v2 Active PA Loudspeaker:

Oh my! I could not believe how clear these babies sound when I play EVERY style of music through them (no matter what volume). I was hesitant to buy these because of the blue color and the price but honestly I needed to stop carrying my amp rack and heavy passive speakers. The dark blue can only be noticed in daylight but they look great, at night they blend in and look like black speakers. These sound a lot clearer than the original SRM450 and are noticeably lighter (big plus). I pushed them hard for over 4 hours when I first got them in and there was barely any heat coming from the amp on the back (room temperature was about 78 degrees). I have not seen the peak light turn on no matter how loud I put them and the sound is AMAZING! If you want to receive compliments from your audience and lighten your carrying load when traveling, these are the perfect speakers for you! I recommend a subwoofer to fill in the bass but even alone they hit hard as low as 55hz. I am very satisfied with my purchase and will most likely buy another pair in the future. If you have any thoughts or questions about the new Mackie SRM450v2, just ask me!
