    Mackie

2-way biamplified, optimized Active loudspeaker system with smooth, ultrawide dispersion.

The Mackie SRM450 v2 Active Speaker puts your focus on your performance instead of the distraction of constant EQ and level tweaks. While live sound can sometimes seem like a wild, uncaged animal, with the SRM450 Portable Active Loudspeaker, Mackie has created technology to help tame the beast.

Thanks to the Mackie SRM450 v2 speaker's all-new design—from adding new amps and transducers to a new lightweight power supply—the SRM450 v2 surpasses the performance of the original SRM450 to deliver pure studio monitor sound at more powerful, full-on loudspeaker levels. Mackie has also managed to keep the SRM450 v2 affordable for musicians despite a complete redesign from the inside out.

The "SRM" Stands for Sound Reinforcement Monitor
Over a decade ago, Greg Mackie and a dedicated team of engineers set out to create a portable loudspeaker that could deliver studio monitor sound quality. Unlike a relatively small, acoustically controlled studio where the sweet spot is well-defined, live venues vary greatly and most are far from acoustically balanced. Despite the challenges, after 2 years of extensive research and development, the first Mackie Sound Reinforcement Monitor was born—a loudspeaker that truly lived up to its name. The Mackie SRM450 v2 continues the SRM450's tradition of studio monitor sound quality delivering sound that makes any venue seem like a well-tuned studio.

    Ultrawide Dispersion
Undoubtedly you've been to a show where the sound is all over the map. For instance, stand in front of the band and it sounds okay, but move a little to your left or right and all of a sudden you've got mud in your ears. When Mackie SRM450 v2 loudspeakers are onstage, no matter where you stand, you hear sound with impeccable stereo imaging, depth of field, and definition—at full-on loudspeaker levels. This is due to the Mackie SRM450 v2 speaker's wide dispersion pattern, which is achieved through its multi-cell horn throat aperture. The multi-cell horn throat aperture allows for much wider and more even dispersion of high and mid frequencies. So whether you're listening intently front and center, or playing it cool on the perimeter, you'll hear the same great mix.

Stunning Bass via Servo Feedback Controlled, all new Neodymium Woofer
Many portable loudspeakers produce lows that lack that chest-pounding punch. But the SRM450 v2 delivers astonishingly deep and defined bass frequencies. In fact, it outperforms the original SRM450, which was renowned for its ability to deliver real low-down sound. That's thanks to the SRM450 v2's servo feedback technology combined with its all-new neodymium woofer and 3" voice coil.

Based on Mackie's award-winning HR824mk2 studio monitor technology, the servo feedback damping electronic circuit within the Mackie SRM450 v2 locks the woofer in place with the positive and negative outputs of the amplifier. This creates a solid, direct-coupling that allows the SRM450 v2 to deliver extremely deep bass from a small cabinet. The new neodymium woofer's magnet is lighter in mass, therefore faster than ceramics, giving the SRM450 v2's bass more punch. The new longer 3" voice coil allows the woofer to handle heat more efficiently, so it produces a consistently full dynamic range—even at maximum output. So you get full, thumping, detailed lows even after long hours of use at near-peak volumes.

Super low distortion thanks to Mackie's own Class D, Fast Recovery Amplification
With its combination of Class D topology and Fast Recovery circuitry, the SRM450 v2 operates with incredible efficiency, and delivers much more power and clarity. With this Class D Fast Recovery amplification, the SRM450 v2 handles maximum volume—and associated heat—with ease, so there's no unwanted noise or thermal problems. Even after hours of sustained use at near-peak levels, your sound remains clean and your SRM450 v2 keeps cool.

    Legendary Active Electronics
In a passive loudspeaker setup, an external amplifier is connected to a passive crossover inside the speaker, which distributes frequencies to the transducers. Because power amps and transducers vary widely in sound and quality, trying to match the right power amp with the right speaker can be challenging, especially if you're not a professional acoustic technician or rolling in cash so you can hire one. Mackie's proven Active design does all the work for you. With the SRM450 v2, you get a complete loudspeaker system, with complex electronics and carefully chosen components, all precisely tuned and tweaked to work together. The result is a loudspeaker with phenomenal sound quality and power that is completely plug-and-play—no EQ needed.

Built-In Protection Circuitry for Long Life
Active loudspeakers are pushed hard, often to, or beyond the limit. That's why Mackie built reliable protection circuitry into every unit. The SRM450 v2 employs a built-in limiter for less distortion at peak levels, and an automatic sliding high-pass filter to give you that little bit of extra volume when the crowd demands more. Thanks to the advanced technology of its power supply and Class D amp topology, the SRM450 v2 is greater than 90 percent efficient—more of the power from your outlet goes straight to the transducer, without the power supply and amp giving off loads of heat. Less heat means better performance and a longer life.

    Versatile, Portable, Tough
When designing the SRM450 v2, Mackie considered every angle. You can still achieve great sound whether you polemount it from the bottom, fly it vertically or horizontally via its integrated M10 mounting points, or use it as a wedge monitor. With all this flexibility, it's one of the most versatile portable active loudspeakers around. Moving it into place is easier than ever too. Weighing in at about 40 lb.—11 lb. lighter than the original SRM450—you'll have plenty of strength left over to play after loading in. Plus, the SRM450 v2 retains its rugged, Mackie built-like-a-tank durability, thanks to the polypropylene cabinet.

Comments about Mackie SRM450v2 Active Speaker (Black):

I'm very skeptical of these negative reviews. (Sounds like some people don't understand grounding issues and are blaming unwanted noise on the speaker.) I've owned a pair of the SRM450V2 for about 3 years now. We're flying them in a room that seats 400. Using the DBX driverack, made setting them up a breeze! The sound is amazing. These are like studio monitors for live sound.
      Peace,

Comments about Mackie SRM450v2 Active Speaker (Black):

I have owned a pair of Mackie SRM450's for about 2 years now and I will never buy a Mackie speaker of any kind again! I've replaced the motherboard's on both of them!
Let me explain, I work in a 4 piece band and we mike everything but we are NOT loud! Settings on the 450's are as follows, 75htz roll-off on, EQ boost off, level is at parody 0db (12 o'clock). Board EQ settings are almost flat (no smiley face) with a 2db boost around 8Khz, channel EQ settings are mostly flat with a little reverb and I'm running a pair of EV subs and my console main outputs are between -10 & -5 at the loudest so the Mackie's aren't stressed at all! The system sounds great! Bottom line is I just can't trust them anymore, when I show up at the gig and the power light won't go on and the speakers worked fine the night before...well that's a big problem for me! I loved the original 450's but these 450 V2's really suck! I just can't trust them!
I remember hearing about problems with these failing and put it down to operator error like over-driving them with the smiley face and the input on 5 O'clock +10 on the mixer output...you know dumb stuff...but now I know different!
      Hope this helps!

      AWFUL!!

      By Music605

Comments about Mackie SRM450v2 Active Speaker (Black):

I just bought a pair of the NEW SRM 450 V2's hoping for the same success as I had from my old Mackie SRM 450 (love my old ones!) I took them both out of the box and plugged them in. I immediately noticed a bit of rattling noises from the back of both speakers as signal passed through. I again tried the speakers 2 weeks later and now the rattling noises from the back of the speaker was more prominent, a long with the the horns ALSO making noises. Next evening I used the speakers and one of the them had HISS /BUZZ noise. I called Mackie directly, and they told me what was going on. They them selves stated: "these are the new, more cheaper drivers compared from the original SRM 450." They apologized.

      Mackie comes through again

Comments about Mackie SRM450v2 Active Speaker (Black):

I own 2 sets of these speakers, and would not trade them for anything. They put out great sound that is good for indoor and outdoor parties. I plan on all of my d. j.'s having them.
The amp in the back is the best feature on these speakers.
They are the best speakers I have ever owned.
Well priced for the quality they put out.

      Disappointed.

      By all-mackie-girl

Comments about Mackie SRM450v2 Active Speaker (Black):

I am a proud Mackie owner and have used the SRM 350s for 3 years (3 gigs a week) with no problems. Since I was so happy with those lovely speakers, I was thrilled to step up my rig and get the 450s.I read the reviews about the hiss, and thought, "well, okay, they hiss, so don't my 350s." NO. This is ridiculous. I turned the speaker on and it was nice and quiet with the typical electric buzz that you'd expect. 2 minutes in, a LOUD hum set in, and it sounded like thunder. It had nothing to do with my mixer input, and would still hum regardless of power supply and configuration. If this is "typical," it's unacceptable. I don't have time to exchange it and try another, sad to say.Glad I had time to return this, as I now have to find something better.

      Loud Annoying Buzz/Hiss Noise

      By Rod-dzzjV

      from Los Angeles

Comments about Mackie SRM450v2 Active Speaker (Black):

The 1st one I had came w/ a broken knob, and I exchanged it for a new one (before I even plugged it in). The 2nd and 3rd ones had horrible hiss/buzz noises that were unbearable. I had to return all of them. The buzzing noise came w/ the volume set to the standard "noon" position, and music playing at 80dBa. When I stopped the music, one Mackie was buzzing at 55dbA (unbearable) in the Tweeter and the other at 47dBa (borderline bearable) in the Tweeter. These were measured w/ a Decibel reader about a foot away from each tweeter. I returned them and bought a pair of Behringer Eurolive 215D cabs at half the price. The buzzing was greatly reduced and these speakers would buzz at only 43dBa for the same test. (by the way, the difference between 43 and 47 decibels is actually substantial when you listen for yourself to the buzzing). These Mackies looked awesome but I was very disappointed! Where is the quality control! Buy some Behringers with similar RMS power instead and save yourself the headache I went through.

      The True Industry Standard

      By DJ Smalk

      from Upstate, NY

Comments about Mackie SRM450v2 Active Speaker (Black):

I too thought JBL EONs were the way to go. Bought em and eventually got told by my buddies that Im missing out. Returned the EON and got the SRM450s and wow - difference is like night and day. The max SPL of these totally outclasses the EONs and the build quality does the same. The low end is really impressive for a 12" woofer and the SRMs dont go into clipping anywhere near as soon as the EONs did. Do yourself a favor and dont make the same mistake I did. Get a pair of these and start worrying about other parts of your setup.
