OVERVIEW

Attaches to any mic stand boom. Perfect for suppressing those popping 'P's.

The Musicians Gear Double Pop Filter is a pro-level split screen pop blocker that removes unwanted "P" and "B" consonant plosives by providing open space between the two screens. The first screen diffuses the air that causes plosive consonants, the open space between the screens disperses air pressure, and the pop filters second screen disperses the air and removes any remaining plosive consonants. The Musicians Gear Double Pop Filter features a sophisticated design that removes any air pressure and is very effective in filtering wind-caused plosives.

I bought two of these about a year ago during the 4th of July sales week and I have to say it's probably one of the cheapest improvements to my home studio rig that I've put money into.

I use these on many types of instrument recording sessions outside of just vocals. I have a tube guitar amp that has a lot of "speaker bark", and as such it has a tendency to rapidly change in SPL depending on the artist's playing dynamics. I used to get clipping in some otherwise great takes as a result of this, so I put one of these in front of my condenser mic. I was very impressed. No more clipping and I was able to keep the clarity and volume dynamics without risking damage to my equipment.

These are also nice for brass and woodwind instruments where similar rise/drops in SPL is a concern. You can physically watch the super-stretch fabric on these move when a trumpet player blasts a note into the mic. (Which if you're wondering is exactly what it's supposed to do.)

This pop filter will also help greatly if you have a vocalist that tends to spit on occasion (gross, I know, but I've seen it happen), and it will save a lot of cleanup for your mics.

These come in plastic resealable bags and have a very solid metal "goose-neck" design so that you can contort them any strange way that your heart desires.

To sum this all up, GET AT LEAST ONE OF THESE! They're cheap, they solve a lot of issues within any recording setting, and as such they're a worthy investment. Highly recommended.

The filter is useable but shoddy workmanship let it down.
Clamp works fine. Goosneck holds the filter in the correct place. Filter seems okay as long as you treat it gently.
The filter arrived with the head rattling around separately from the gooseneck. Some glue on the end of the gooseneck suggests that it should be a permanent fixture. I was able to push it on but it's wobbly and not a good fit.
It also seems as though the filter body had been dragged across a rough surface at one point - there was a wear mark. The packaging suggests that the filter was new so I suspect this was a manufacturing defect.
All in all, poor workmanship and quality control let this filter down.

This is easy to attach to a stand. Seems to work nicely in helping deessing and pop. Hope that as time goes by I will be able to say it is durable and lasts.

Comments about Musician's Gear Double Pop Filter:

I really couldn't be happier with this pop filter for the price. It's a little shorter than my old filter (which is just a single mesh), but I actually like that. It does everything I need it to do. It stays put and keeps out the plosives. What else can you ask for from a pop filter? I'll likely buy another soon.

Comments about Musician's Gear Double Pop Filter:

I am using the pop filter on a boom stand, so the gooseneck is almost completely horizontal in my current configuration. The gooseneck seems to be a little limber, and the pop filter tends to sag until the fabric is touching the microphone. I hope this doesn't get worse as the equipment ages.

Comments about Musician's Gear Double Pop Filter:

After purchasing a new microphone at my company to produce proffessional voice recordings for our training programs, I noticed that the new microphone was heavily picking up plosives (the popping "P"/"B" noise). After purchasing this product and immediately testing its plosive-stopping powers, I've found that it does exactly as I intended. Our recordings since then, with myself and other voice actors, have been clear and very high quality thanks to this product.

Comments about Musician's Gear Double Pop Filter:

Got this (double screened pop filter) to protect my favorite new ribbon mic from those who would scream at the top of their lungs at it. I've had some obnoxiously loud singers in the studio with horrible mic technique, and so far, my mic is safe from harm!! It doesn't seem to adversely affect vocal tone in any way either, so really, it fulfills every need I had for it. Yay! Good job MF!

Comments about Musician's Gear Double Pop Filter:

I record hip hop music but with a very powerful deep and heavy vocal range. I was always having problems with pops on P's F's S's you name it. Sometimes its just so hard to avoid. But with this almost all of them get blocked off from the double pop filter. It saves me much time on how many takes I have to do. Thank God for the Musician's Gear Double Pop Filter. A must have for any home recording setup!

We tried several other ones including some name brand ones and preferred these for their performance and durability. The other ones we tried either made the voices sound muddy or the hardware was poorly designed and would fall apart.
