OVERVIEW

Perfect for suppressing plosive sounds when recording vocals.

The Musicians Gear Double Pop Filter is a pro-level split screen pop blocker that removes unwanted "P" and "B" consonant plosives by providing open space between the two screens. The first screen diffuses the air that causes plosive consonants, the open space between the screens disperses air pressure, and the pop filters second screen disperses the air and removes any remaining plosive consonants. The Musicians Gear Double Pop Filter features a sophisticated design that removes any air pressure and is very effective in filtering wind-caused plosives.

I bought two of these about a year ago during the 4th of July sales week and I have to say it's probably one of the cheapest improvements to my home studio rig that I've put money into.

I use these on many types of instrument recording sessions outside of just vocals. I have a tube guitar amp that has a lot of "speaker bark", and as such it has a tendency to rapidly change in SPL depending on the artist's playing dynamics. I used to get clipping in some otherwise great takes as a result of this, so I put one of these in front of my condenser mic. I was very impressed. No more clipping and I was able to keep the clarity and volume dynamics without risking damage to my equipment.

These are also nice for brass and woodwind instruments where similar rise/drops in SPL is a concern. You can physically watch the super-stretch fabric on these move when a trumpet player blasts a note into the mic. (Which if you're wondering is exactly what it's supposed to do.)

This pop filter will also help greatly if you have a vocalist that tends to spit on occasion (gross, I know, but I've seen it happen), and it will save a lot of cleanup for your mics.

These come in plastic resealable bags and have a very solid metal "goose-neck" design so that you can contort them any strange way that your heart desires.

To sum this all up, GET AT LEAST ONE OF THESE! They're cheap, they solve a lot of issues within any recording setting, and as such they're a worthy investment. Highly recommended.

Quality Control not up to par

The filter is useable but shoddy workmanship let it down.
Clamp works fine. Goosneck holds the filter in the correct place. Filter seems okay as long as you treat it gently.Read complete review

The filter is useable but shoddy workmanship let it down.
Clamp works fine. Goosneck holds the filter in the correct place. Filter seems okay as long as you treat it gently.
The filter arrived with the head rattling around separately from the gooseneck. Some glue on the end of the gooseneck suggests that it should be a permanent fixture. I was able to push it on but it's wobbly and not a good fit.
It also seems as though the filter body had been dragged across a rough surface at one point - there was a wear mark. The packaging suggests that the filter was new so I suspect this was a manufacturing defect.
All in all, poor workmanship and quality control let this filter down.

Comments about Musician's Gear Double Pop Filter:

It does a good job for recordings.
The dual mesh is a great idea.
Works like it suppose to do, stopping pops and cracks in the recordings.
It is worth the money paid.

Absolute BEST Pop Blocker You're Going to Get for the Price

By Tom Hilt

from Undisclosed

Comments about Musician's Gear Double Pop Filter:

For how well it works, I'd be willing to pay more then double what you're getting it for here. To double screens to an absolutely perfect job of blocking air- blow as hard as you can and you can't feel anything coming out the other side. The other reviews were complaining about the gooseneck, but so far I haven't had any problems with it. I put it up into position 2 days ago and it hasn't moved and inch. Maybe it does move easily when you hit it, but it stays in place and for the price it's well worth it. If you're looking for a good filter, BUY THIS ONE. You can buy 3 of these for what you'd pay for a more expensive one and they'll do the job just as well.

Works Great.

By Mason Walsh

Comments about Musician's Gear Double Pop Filter:

This pop filter does its jobs, limiting saliva, and air flow to the mic. I noticed a huge difference in pffft sounds and the p's t's and k's. It limits unwanted noise very well.
It does its job, quite nicely.
The actual filter itself works great and has good quality. I've heard bad reviews about the goose neck, and I did notice that it is fairly weak. That being said, I found a position that holds very well.
Great value

Comments about Musician's Gear Double Pop Filter:

This pop filter filters plosives. This is the first fabric based pop filter I've used (I usually use a metal filter at the studio). I like its size, this pop filter is slightly larger than I'm accustomed to.

It's perfect for recording trumpet as it not only protects the mic from condensation (from the bell), but also gives the player a visual target to aim his/her bell. The player can stay a consistent distance from the microphone. Even better, If the player drifts and accidentally bumps into the pop filter, it won't ruin the take (bumping against fabric vs metal). This is especially helpful when using trumpet mutes; specifically Harmon.

Comments about Musician's Gear Double Pop Filter:

I have used several pop filters, this one does a great job, it does seem a bit delicate where it comes to the placstic frame and the screen, but if you arent having to move it around alot it does a superb job for the price.

I have pretty crazy p's and b's so decided for a double pop, my biggest fear was that the arm wouldnt hold but it's been holding fantastic for about a month and a half might eventually upgrade to the metal nady but this wont let you down

Not a single pop gets through this pop filter!

      By jag829

      from Alliance, OH

Comments about Musician's Gear Double Pop Filter:

This musician's gear double pop filter is awesome! I sang everything I could think of--from screaming to hard beatboxing--just to try and get a pop to hit the mic, but all in vain. Extremely effective. Only downside is the gooseneck is a bit weak, but play with it and it'll stay. Great product! If you're considering, consider no more. Get it! No hard breathe will get through, even if you straight blow into it, your mic is clear!

Comments about Musician's Gear Double Pop Filter:

I've been using mine pretty intensely for about 2 months now. No issues at all, and I'm really glad I went with the double pop filter instead of a single pop filter. Now I won't ever have to worry about a perfect vocal take being ruined by various breath artifacts and pops.
