These are very similar to the famous Sony MDR-7506 headphones, with slightly less brightness and clarity of higher frequencies. They remind me a lot of Tascam's TH-300X headphones (which you can get for as low as 35 on a Stupid Deal of the Day) in terms of sound quality, bass response, and construction.
I got these headphones for 15 on a Stupid Deal of the Day and for that price these are an unbeatable deal. For the regular price, however, you're better off just getting a pair of Sony MDR-7506s. But If you can get these headphones on sale for anything less than 40, get at least 2 pairs and you definitely will not regret it. They're the perfect cheap solution for providing everyone in your studio with an identical pair of good quality headphones. If I was to start all over again building my recording studio, I would get one pair of Audio Technica ATH-M50Xs for tracking and mastering and 5 pairs of these headphones for other musicians to use during recording and jam sessions.
Construction-wise, these are super lightweight, yet very solid feeling, more solid than the 7506s. So if they're dropped on carpet, or even tile, no big deal. They're also very comfortable. The ear pads are replaceable and I imagine the cheap faux leather will crack over time. But again, for now they are very comfortable as is.
To note - I didn't properly break-in these headphones. I just took them out of the box and sampled them with 2 friends. We compared them against my MDR-7506s and my Audio Technica's ATH-M50Xs (which was perhaps an unfair comparison for any headphone because they're in a league of their own in terms of price and quality). I used my Alesis 6-channel headphone amplifier connected to my iPhone as the input. Both of my friends were totally shocked that I only paid 15 for them because of how good they sounded and how well built they are. So who knows how much better they can get over time and/or with a better headphone amplifier.

Over my many years I have always been surprised at the good sound quality from most any (even the cheapest) headphone or even ear buds. When I first listened to these I kept fiddling with the plug to make sure the connection was clear. I compared to another pair of Sony's (not expensive). The MGs are much like when you hear a stereo from another room. Not really muffled but clarity and ranges are REALLY lacking. I am NOT over discriminating, I am not a techie sound critique. I am still thinking of returning. You will be cheating yourself if you are listening to music. I rarely write reviews and have thought carefully to what I am writing. They are comfortable.

Comments about Musician's Gear MG900 Studio Headphones:

I bought these on Stupid Deal Of The Day. They are good for that low price. But horrible for the retail value they normally try to sell them at. Exactly the same as a couple other headphones. They all come from the same factory, but with different markings put on for the different companies (Marantz, Tascam, MG).

Comments about Musician's Gear MG900 Studio Headphones:

Bought these to replace a pair of AKG headphones my daughter "borrowed" to listen to her music on her phone. They are clear, but certainly not audiophile quality cans. Bass freqs are not well defined, and treble freqs lack real dynamics. The listening experience isn't bad, it's just not GREAT. These are inexpensive headphones and I didn't expect top tier performance from them. My daughter likes the long cord, the light weight and the comfy earcups.

Comments about Musician's Gear MG900 Studio Headphones:

I've had my share of poor quality headphones as well as professional gear. This product actually went far beyond what I consider flat out useless. I had to continually run to other sources repeating the phrase "maybe if I try it here it'll sound okay"... well it didn't... It didn't to a point where I had to wonder in what universe did these people think they could sell this product to people with ears? It's a disappointment to put it mildly.

Comments about Musician's Gear MG900 Studio Headphones:

Feel great on the ears and have a nice long uncoiled cord... BUT
The sound is bass heavy without definition in the midrange. Not useable for studio mixing or music listening.
Best application is to hear TV late at night. You'll never get a good mix with these.
Oh yeah, they were inexpensive... and cheap.

Comments about Musician's Gear MG900 Studio Headphones:

Being I've been around music for some 45 plus years playing & just for listening pleasure, I also wanted a some nice phones for watching & cranking up DVD's late at night. I never had anything more than 2 bills of headphones nor needed such. But picked up a couple of these on the great SDOTD bargain and took the chance & have to say a decent bargain & sound as good as any I've had around a bill or so! comes with both size plugs & about 10' straight cord, so I bought an addition ext. cord for listing in bed also, etc. Seems to be built fairly sturdy of todays standards. Cups do not turn but the do flip to outside for DJ's or single ear monitoring. Pretty cool overall, comfortable and sound good across spectrum. Hadn't had long, just hope they hold up! If your watching your budget, you could do a lot worse! Get Ya's some!

Good headphones for what I use them for. Casual listening to music on my laptop.Great value at a competitors matched price,But not even close to the regular they want for these.I own 3 different brands,AKG, Tascam and now MG. and ALL 3 of them have the sensitive weak wired plugs that will at times cut out . I'm very easy on my equipment . So sure they will last with care.As others have stated these are a little Bass heavy on the sound. But they do sound very good. My favorite part of them is the earpads fit my head like a glove and they are comfortable to wear for hours on end.All in all, For the sale price they are worth every penny.

I needed a new set of headphones to replace a deteriorating set when these came available as a SDOD. Very good value. They have a good sound. I use them to practice my guitar silently through a practice amp while playing along to a CD (I live in a condo and this allows me to crank up the volume). I can't address their use in recording, as I don't use them that way. They do what I need to do very well and I would buy them again.
