OVERVIEW

MXL puts it all together for you.

The MXL 3000 Mic Bundle includes the MXL 3000 microphone, a 25' Mogami mic cable, shock mount, and matching pop filter. The MXL 3000 has a large 25mm gold-sputtered capsule and an FET preamplifier with premium components within the signal path. Its transformer-coupled output is very reminiscent of the circuit designs found in early British recording consoles. When used for recording vocals the microphone has amazing clarity and warmth. It is a stunningly detailed microphone that is also appropriate for instrument miking, especially of string and wind instruments.

Requires phantom power.

Comments about MXL 3000 Mic Bundle:

Overall I don't see how you can lose with this product. I think the only way you could be disappointed is if you had been using Neumanns your whole life and suddenly this was all you had, and even then I don't believe would be devastated.
I received this Mic Bundle as a fathers day gift a year ago. All I can say is WOW! This mic has become my go to for Vocals and Acoustic guitar. I love it when doing MS sides with a ribbon mic (also and inexpensive one). I am on a tight budget with three kids (one in college). I am building a decent collection of inexpensive condenser and ribbon mics, MXL, AKG, Nady and this by far is my fav for most vocal tracks. this thing blows my MXL 990 away and makes my AKG 200 sound rather dull and lifeless. I have several Shure handheld condensers such as the KSM 9 beta 87 and the 849 instrument condenser that cost from two times to four times as much and the 3000 hangs in with them beautifully. Granted they are different types of microphones. I love the presence and clarity of a vocal thru this mic it allows a vocal to sit nicely in the mix without being muddy or to bright and brittle. A previous review mentioned the boost in the low mids and I agree. That is what gives it it's punch and in your face reality in my opinion. It came with a good cable and a pop filter that is somewhat on the cheap side and like another guy said mine also came apart but wrap a mall amount of tape around the top of the gooseneck and remount it. I used electrical because the black matches.
The mic seems well built and feels solid in your hands.
I feel that for the price of this mic bundle you can't go wrong. If you do not have any condensers and this is your first one it will spoil you and raise your expectations for all other inexpensive condensers.

Comments about MXL 3000 Mic Bundle:

I have been using the 3000 on a nearly non-stop EP project for the last 3 weeks. While not comparable to a $1000+ mic, it clearly out-performs any condenser mic that I have used at anything close to its price. Pretty close to natural sounding and very sensitive (which is both a plus and a minus in a home studio). The accessories are all solid--I would have paid a few bucks extra for a case, though. Highly recommend.

    Just Ordered 2 More!!

Comments about MXL 3000 Mic Bundle:

Received the MXL3000 mic & set up for band's lead singer/guitarist. As soon as we'd dialed it in, the "wow's" came from everyone in the band. By the end of that rehearsal in the black box theatre, we were convinced each of us needed one and an order for 2 more was immediately placed. We have more expensive mics, but the quality of vocals & acoustic instruments sold it. Increased warmth & clarity with less hissss, less pop, & feedback - we feel we've stepped our game up a level. One heckuva value on a great mic.

Great product, would highly reccomend for the price!
Would be nice if it had a few options on the mic (decibel filter etc)
Very impressed with this mic! I actually like it better than my more expensive akg mic. The vocals sound very warm and crisp.

Comments about MXL 3000 Mic Bundle:

This mike may have push me over the edge to become a microphone junkie on a quest for tone. I plugged this in to my Yamaha N12 Digital board, pointed it at my acoustic guitar and it was obvious that a good mic makes a difference. The sound was nice and warm. I even felt like my guitar felt different as I played it because of the tone I was hearing in the headphones. I will be selling my V63 and 990 mics. Now to save up for a awesome tube mic. I am a hopeless case!! :-)

I got this mic kit after listening to a lot of comparisons and reading reviews. I will buy a famous brand item when I know that item is the best, but in the case of microphones, it's not a two-horse town any more. The MXL, Equation and other super-low-cost yet high quality mics have really helped us build home studios without the massive costs of traditional studios.

I'm very pleased with the vocalist kit, and love having that pop filter, especially. The mic has a very flat response, as intended, so don't let that throw you. You'll want to do your vocal processing in post production, or using a live processor, but even direct, the mic has a great sound, very sensitive and clean-sounding, for a modern vocal sound, and I'm amazed it sounds that good for its cost. For reference, I use the Mogami cable into a Soundcraft mixer and then from there into a Marantz digital recorder, with processing done later on the computer.

Good but needs a solid preamp

Comments about MXL 3000 Mic Bundle:

I purchased this mic are 06/2008 for something like two hundred bucks just to get an idea of how the chinese made mics compare to my audiophile mics. First off, let's get things straight. This mic is not a competitor for a Neumann U47, U67, U46, or U87. They're in VERY different leagues. It is excatly what you would think of a mic this inexpensive however, the quality is good and the build is bulletproof. I am pleasantly surprised at how often I use this mic. It's unusually sweet for acoustic guitars at 3 feet away. Be careful of proximity with this one and use a good tube pre with it and you'll be good to go. The tube pre will warm this one right up.There is a bump on mine around the low mids that I always have to dial down slightly but it's easy to back off the bombasticness with a good channel strip. I really enjoy this mic.

Comments about MXL 3000 Mic Bundle:

I've been using this mic for a couple weeks, and already my recordings are greatly improving. The quality of this mic for the price is very good. Plus it comes with two XLR cables and a pop filter. Great vocals, acoustic guitars sound nice on it as long as you have a decent guitar. All in all great value and quality for the price.
