MXL 3000 Bundle

Features:

I received this Mic Bundle as a fathers day gift a year ago. All I can say is WOW! This mic has become my go to for Vocals and Acoustic guitar. I love it when doing MS sides with a ribbon mic (also and inexpensive one). I am on a tight budget with three kids (one in college). I am building a decent collection of inexpensive condenser and ribbon mics, MXL, AKG, Nady and this by far is my fav for most vocal tracks. this thing blows my MXL 990 away and makes my AKG 200 sound rather dull and lifeless. I have several Shure handheld condensers such as the KSM 9 beta 87 and the 849 instrument condenser that cost from two times to four times as much and the 3000 hangs in with them beautifully. Granted they are different types of microphones.  I love the presence and clarity of a vocal thru this mic it allows a vocal to sit nicely in the mix without being muddy or to bright and brittle. A previous review mentioned the boost in the low mids and I agree. That is what gives it it's punch and in your face reality in my opinion. It came with a good cable and a pop filter that is somewhat on the cheap side and like another guy said mine also came apart but wrap a mall amount of tape around the top of the gooseneck and remount it. I used electrical because the black matches.

Quality:

The mic seems well built and feels solid in your hands.

Value:

I feel that for the price of this mic bundle you can't go wrong. If you do not have any condensers and this is your first one it will spoil you and raise your expectations for all other inexpensive condensers.

Overall:

Overall I don't see how you can lose with this product. I think the only way you could be disappointed is if you had been using Neumanns your whole life and suddenly this was all you had, and even then I don't believe would be devastated.

This mike may have push me over the edge to become a microphone junkie on a quest for tone.      I plugged this in to my Yamaha N12 Digital board, pointed it at my acoustic guitar and it was obvious that a good mic makes a difference.      The sound was nice and warm.      I even felt like my guitar felt different as I played it because of the tone I was hearing in the headphones.      I will be selling my V63 and 990 mics.      Now to save up for a awesome tube mic.      I am a hopeless case!! :-)

Great sound and mine came w/ a decent stand, a Mogami cable and a pop screen. Very clean, crisp sound.

I havent had the mic long enough to comment on the mic itself, However, The pop screen fell apart as I was attaching it to the stand for the first time. Turns out the actuall screen that was attached to the bendable arm was just glued on, and is now not

Great value for the mic itself and the cable together, and I got extra stuff with it that I can make usefull.
