The MXL 9000 Tube Condenser Microphone is a large-diaphragm, cardioid-pattern design based around a 12AT7 tube. The tube circuitry delivers a characteristic warm-yet-transparent midrange response that gives a smooth emphasis to both voices and instruments. It is housed in a silver-finished metal shell and comes complete with hi-isolation shock mount, power supply, and 7-pin power cable.

I bought the MXL 9000 microphone but had to pay extra extra extra to get one that worked. Return shipping, insurance etc. Musicians Friend offers Bupkiss for your trouble.

The MXL 9000 Tube Condenser Microphone is an excellent tube condenser microphone. It is very sensitive! There is no need to scream into this mic - you can sing at very low volume and it picks up all the nuances!
It is my second MXL9000. I plan to try this one for recording two vocals at once! I am also looking forward to mic'ing my drums and acoustic guitar to see how that sounds.
Very good microphone for the price!
I am extremely satisfied.

After doing some research I made the decision to buy this particular microphone.I've had experience with dynamic mics back in the day in studios but they never reproduced high end frequencies well.When I got the MXL 9000 I was impessed even with the stock tubes that it comes with.This mic has really brought out my vocal tracks.I can't wait to see how it'll sound with the NOS tube.You don't have to worry if your preamp/audio interface/or mixer has phantom power becase this mic doesn't run off phantom poer it has it's on power supply.The price Musician's Friend is selling it at is a great deal.

Great full frequency response!
This is the first tube condenser mic I have purchased. The 9000 is great! I don't have a great voice but this mic makes it passable! I have two other mics and this mic is far better. At least for recording vocals and acoustic guitar. You don't have to get close to the mic - 12 to 18 inches or even farther away and it picks it up.
It was't that expensive and well worth the money!

I have two of these in my Home studio, and we use them for instrument and vocal alike, they are always warm powerful and sound AWESOME....if you are doing any type of music recording, you need these in your tool box

When you own a Recording Studio You are always looking for good mics. I came across these and I have to say I was pretty impressed. Granted The first thing I did was change the stock tube out for some NOS 12at7's and once that is done you have yourself a really creamy Tube Condenser. I love to use two of them as Drum overheads, they really make the drum mix pop and now they are my mic of choice for that purpose. Do yourself a favor... get a couple. Change the tubes .. and I guarantee you will find some good use for them.

What a bargain for this great sounding mic. I was using a Neumann U-67 at my studio until it got stolen...........I needed a mic quick, got this one and boy was I surprised. This thing sounds great right out of the box........I replaced the tube with a 5751 and now it's creamier and more in your face. This mic is worth 5 times the money to me. It got me out of a jam and now I use it every day!!!!

I don't have much experience with condenser microphones and this is my fist one but so fay all my vocals recordings sound very good and I'm glad. Also recorded acoustic guitars and they sound great. Can't really compare to anything else but I even like the sound on my vocal recording better than some commercial records out there.
