I feel inclined to review, since I went in on one blindly. Overall, this mic is better on vocals than the 990 is, at they are not as muddy, you can tell a difference in the mids and highs; Its also very sensitive. Once you EQ, you can make this Mic sound pretty darn good. The build of the mic is nice, theres not a ton of mesh on the wire grill like there is on the 990, but this mic pops rather easily, so make sure you have the pop filter, and you may need to speak off to the side of the mic. Although it feels sturdy, it is a bit light, which makes me not want to drop it. I give this product a 9/10, the only thing that couldve made it better was including a shockmount. If you need shockmount size, aim for the V67G or the V57 size as the 990 shockmount is too wide to fit it. At the price right now, it is pretty much a steal, just dont forget to buy a shockmount!
This mic does not contain any specific features such as a DB switch or anything else, just a microphone similar to others like the MXL V57 or V67M.
The build quality feels sturdy and well designed, not quite as heavy as the MXL 990, although I feel like you would not want to drop this microphone on the floor.
I decided to go in on this mic with no reviews; I was pleasently surprised. The only thing that couldve made the deal better was including a shock mount with the packaging. I ended up getting the musiciansgeat shockmount to accompany it (fits the mic a little tight, but it works).

Comments about MXL V250 Condenser Microphone:
We use this mic as an overhead for drums in very small venues and are blown away by it's ability to pick up every head and cymbal and deliver a crisp full sound. It sounds almost as if every head has a mic Amazing! I can't wait to record some vocals with it. Thank you "Stupid Deal"!

Comments about MXL V250 Condenser Microphone:
This mic was a great buy for me. I got it from MFs Stupid Deal of the Day for over $100 dollars off the normal everyday price. That alone was awesome. When the mic arrived, I recorded some vocals just to get an idea of how it was going to sound. I was very impressed. I've used an MXL 990 before and to be honest I don't care for that mic so I wasn't expecting much from the 250V. The 250V blows the 990 away. I also own a R0DE NT-2a and an older AT. I compared my new vocal recordings with some of the NT-2a recordings (which were mixed and effected) and I think that the 250V (dry, no effects yet) sounds better on my voice. I like the warm, crisp tones I got from this mic. It's probably not something your going to find in a pro studio, but it's perfect for the small studio I have. Looks like I'll be re-recording some vocal tracks this weekend. I'm very happy with this purchase.

Didn't expect much from a [$] SDOTD, but amazed at the sound. Compares nicely to mics costing many times more.

Comments about MXL V250 Condenser Microphone:
This is my first studio quality microphone, so I can only rate it on its own merits and not by comparison to other gear. In the short time I've had it, the MXL V250 has become an essential component of my home studio, and proven itself quite a versatile tool for amateur recording.
This is a vocal mic first and foremost. The clarity of recorded tracks is excellent, and the tone is very true to life. My sister was testing it shortly after I set it up, and it took me a moment to realize when she had stopped recording and started playing it back! It's also an extremely sensitive mic. My own voice isn't gorgeous but it projects, and I can easily overdrive this microphone at medium volume standing several feet away. That's certainly a plus in my book, since I'm not the type to make out with the microphone -- much though I do like the thing.
The MXL also does an acceptable job on acoustic guitars, but it's just that: acceptable. I'm sure with a stereo setup and a decent sound engineer, it could sound much better. As it is, I prefer to take advantage of the pickup in my guitar and run it directly into my audio interface. One instrument this microphone excels at recording is my ocarina, which sounds much bigger through the MXL than its diminutive size would suggest. I also have a ukulele and a number of oddball folk instruments lying around, so no doubt I will be putting this microphone through its paces in the coming weeks.
I doubt this microphone will withstand much abuse, but I'm careful while handling it and keep it the box while it's not in use. With decent care, it should probably last a while. Maybe if I'm still using it I'll post a follow-up in a couple of years.
Overall this is a solid first microphone for home recording, and keeps up nicely with my style of singing and taste in unusual instrumentation. I'm glad I stumbled on this during a "Stupid Deal of the Day" sale, because at that price it's practically a steal. I don't know if I'd still buy it at regular price, but then I've gotten less out of much more expensive gear. If this thing holds up, I suspect MXL will inspire a fair bit of brand loyalty.
