I am a small time sound recording engineer and bought the Nady CM-88 for it's price.I record amplifier close miking and vocals and drums and do it all using sm57's neumann and SP C1's which are very good mics.I tried the Nady on vocals, it did well, didnt pick up alot of bass on my vocals,I also tried on most other things around, all did fairly well, then tried miking a Musicman HD130 head and Cab and this thing went crazy, popping sputtering...I would need to lower the volume and would do so on softer pieces...I like the feel and looks of this mic, but it seems to be made for vocals maybe drum overheads and percussion instruments and acoustical instruments...It has no Pad, so I wont be miking Loud Cabs anymore with it, I'll use the C1 to do that as it does very well ...Good mic I would buy another one...Larry.

I have worked with good mics, ok mics, and bad mics since I started recording a few years ago (still can't afford a "good" one, for they start around 1000, 2 grand if you know what you want). This is definitely in the "bad" category, yet I think the price should give that away. WAY too much high end, brittle at that, mids were muddy and no low end. They may be cheap, but save your money for something better, fifty bucks could be just the right boost for what you need for a better mic.

Comments about Nady CM-88 Condenser Microphone:
I use these for my hihat, ride and overheads
Comments about Nady CM-88 Condenser Microphone:
a strange thing about this mic. the polar pattern is very similar to an sm 57. I've used it to mic overheads but its not the best. butt for the bottom of a snare its great and its beautifull on acoustic guitars. it was also the only mic to capture my old ampeg b25b 2x15 cab the way it sounds in the room
Comments about Nady CM-88 Condenser Microphone:
Do not use it for vocals or acoustic guitar. Way Way Way too bright. Using it to mic an amp or drums yeah..not so bad. But the low end it really lacks. Even on a tube preamp..no good. Really...its an ok studio budget mic. But for vocals and acoustic..go with an MXL at the same price.
Comments about Nady CM-88 Condenser Microphone:
This is a good little microphone (albeit a little cheap) but the pattern and clarity of sound are second to only really expensive mics that I have used in the past. I use these for micing choirs and drums and they sound really good a prevent feedback. if you are a sound engineer on a budget you should look into these!
Comments about Nady CM-88 Condenser Microphone:
I don't think it's possible to exaggerate how cheap this microphone is and how poor its element is.Not only is this microphone an unusually poor, toy-grade piece (examine the internals yourself if you doubt this), its hugely overpriced compared to something like the cheaper MXL SDCs available at about the same price, which are at least real microphones. It's false economy to buy this unit. It's a joke.
Comments about Nady CM-88 Condenser Microphone:
I'm trying to create a cost efficient home studio so all my instrument mics are Nady. I have no problem with them at all I was able to record a whole drum kit with one of these baby's. Sounded wonderful, also I tried it as a vocal mic and it was in comparison to my fathers sm58.
Comments about Nady CM-88 Condenser Microphone:
This is a fantastic condenser microphone - especially for the price. These mics, unlike many in the same price range, achieve a remarkably crisp, full-bodied sound for use as drum overheads, acoustic guitar, guitar cab and even vocal recordings. When used with some creative use of spaces and positionings, these mics will get the job done again and again. One bad thing is they are pretty fragile.
Comments about Nady CM-88 Condenser Microphone:
I'm a guitar and recording amateur with a good ear. I do the recordings for my band and ive had the mics for about 4 yrs. I mainly use them for overheads and they sound ok. The highs cut through but it doesnt pick up much low end.I had to do some EQing to balance the frequencies. overall these are good mics to start out with but are not at a professional level
Comments about Nady CM-88 Condenser Microphone:
I own two Nady CM-88 Condenser Microphones. The first one I ordered didn't work. Sent it back and it took 6 months to get my replacement. I ordered one more so I could have some overheads for my drummer. They do work pretty well for cymbals.I also did some recording with my brother and used one of them for the acoustic guitars. While it got the job done, the sound was quite thin. I decided to use both of them on one guitar and it really made a HUGE difference. It was a much more full sound. I recommend these if you're on a budget. And if you're going to record your acoustic double them up. Point one at the sound hole and one at the neck. Very full sound.
Comments about Nady CM-88 Condenser Microphone:
I have used a couple inter-changably for the past year in our group, Silver Spire. I do not claim to be an expert at mics but our flute player has had problems with all kinds of mics except these. There is no apparent "breath" no matter how hard she plays but they reproduce her Irish Flute with awesome clarity, even hard driving lows.
