Great so far

So far, I'm very impressed with this little box. The line and instrument inputs are pretty good and it seems to be solidly built. What's nice is that you get very good VSTi software bundled with it, as well as VST effects and Guitar Rig 3 LE. The headphone output is sufficiently powerful too. Some cons: The mic preamp is mediocre at best, so it's better to use an external mixer with good preamps and compression. Also, the ASIO driver seems unstable at 96 KHz or higher unless you set your latency very high. I've had to stick with 88.2 KHz and "standard latency" for it to be usable. And lastly, the included Cubase LE 4 is junk, unless you have nothing else.

works great

I'm running vista on a newish laptop and so far this thing works flawlessly with much lower latencies and sound quality than on the alesis interface i was working with previously. I like that it's multi client (ie. you can use it with more than one sound program simultaneously, unlike the alesis). One thing I would have liked is two headphone outputs, like the Novation io 2|4.The guitar combos software that comes with it actually impressed me greatly. I have the full guitar rig software, but I really like the simpleness and ease/quickness of use that the guitar combos provides. Not to mention they sound great! So far I haven't found a productivity enhancing use of the big knob and buttons but I'm sure something will come to me.I haven't tried Tracktor LE, Cubase LE or Tracktor yet though. It runs great on FL Studio though. I hear that this unit just doesn't work with some computers however, so buying this could potentially be a roll of the dice.

AK1 and FL Studio

By sbbrucey

I bought this unit mainly for the TRS outs (for my monitors) and the fact that NI was offering a free synth to go with it. I run Vista Home premium 32 bit and use it in FL Studio 9 and it works great!! Low latencies and the free synth came in the form of a coupon that I downloaded from the NI website. I only record midi and I only use FL Studio and this rig is a lot better than the Creative SoundBlaster external I had and the Yamaha Audiogram3 hands down!!!

Bad Drivers

By Anonymous

from Undisclosed

I bought this unit with high expectations. I heard great things about it and the bundled software plug-ins are great. To my dismay the sound output had a bad noise "crackle". The email responses from native where slow at best. Come to find out I was not the only one with this problem. Native cust care took me through all kinds of "fixes" including buying an additional $30 powered external usb port. After weeks of trying to resolve the issue I was told that its a driver issue and I just had to wait for it. Needless to say I returned the unit and got a presonus interface that works great.

Great Choice, no regrets

I use this unit with Garageband on my macbook pro. I only record myself so this unit is perfect. I am blown away by the sound, I've never produced anything this good in my old home studios. This unit and a Rode NT1a finally gave me a home studio quality of sound I've been content with.

Very cool and cute box!

By Junito Perez

Hola, I have been looking for a good USB 2.0 interface. Got the m audio fast track pro and was not very happy with it. I needed a sound card for djing so I went with Hercules Remix console. Very cool unit, but I also produce and record fantastic dance, electronica, so I needed a sound card/interface good for djing and fabulous for recording. researched for months and went with the Audio Kontrol. This little box rocks! Sounds fantastic, I mean really the sound quality is amazing. A bit tricky with installation, (probably my impatience) cause NI has been a software based factor in my studio, but this hardware unit is solid, and sounds incredible, yo! I have not hooked up midi yet, but for VDJ and for Cubase, plays and records very, very well. Amazing. Very happy with this stunning piece of gear. Plus loads of added software, very action packed!
