Under powered on 1/4 jacks and no volume adjustment on the loop. A keyboard will require a pre amp but Active acoustic guitar systems are fine. The 150 watt rating must be a Chinese rating as it compares more to 25 watts of American amp power. I believe due to mis match as low Z mics must be used to get reasonable volume. Still a good buy even though not as powerful as the old American pa heads of yesterday. Compares to the power of a 25 watt amp. It appears all new amps are overstated as to output power and require pre amps and power amps to achieve what an old Mississippi made Peavey head put out at 130 watts.
Electronic reverb is nice and very controllable resulting in nice tones and realistic sound.

Used this amp for three person group - two guitars, bass, and two mics. Sounded fine at low volume which is how we used it. Would have liked to have had monitor outs. Amp stopped working after a short time. Wouldn't power up. Took it to a tech who said the heat sensing over load module had gone bad. Contacted Peavey for a schematic and order a new module. Was told that this model was rated as "do not repair" by the factory. Said he hadn't heard of that before. I decided to call Peavy's parts number myself, and they confirmed that this model is indeed rated as not to be repaired. Does that mean it's a hazard, or disposable, or ???? This amp is still being sold so I don't know what to think. My tech said he can't repair well until he can get a schematic which Peavey doesn't offer. Just for what that's worth.

Comments about Peavey PVI 8B Powered Mixer:

I purchased the PVi 8B because I was looking for something simple and compact (and maybe light) from a reputable brand with enough power to run my Peavey PVi 10 speakers (50W @8ohm each) and enough XLR inputs for me and my 4 friends (none of whom know much about sound reinforcement). We already have a hand-me-down 10-Channel Sound Tech mixer that's too big and complex for our needs (and so there is a lot of time wasted fiddling with knobs).

I thought the 8B would be good for us. And when I got it in, it sounded perfectly fine for us. I liked the simplistic EQ settings and straight ahead layout, and the FX sound like a good idea (although I didn't really mess with them). Seems like a decent and simple mixer if you don't need much in the way of bells and/or whistles.

I ended up returning the unit simply because it was almost as big as our existing Sound Tech mixer (although a tad bit lighter). I'm giving the Behringer PMP550m a shot instead.

Comments about Peavey PVI 8B Powered Mixer:

Fine overall and a good price. However, I was disappointed to discover there is not really a line out! The "line send" is the effects loop send, but using it disconnects the main outputs (as stated in the manual) -- so you can't send a line to a powered monitor. There is an RCA out to tape, which I'm going to try to send to a powered monitor, but no level for that... Also, as other reviewers said, the reverb is mostly unusable -- it's actually delay. If you don't need a proper line out or reverb, then I think it's a fine purchase.

Comments about Peavey PVI 8B Powered Mixer:

This is a pretty good piece of hardware for the price. I bought this mainly to record a drum kit with but also so we can have some extra channels when my band practices. The fact that it has 8 channels is quite amazing for the price I think. The clean sound and equalizer sound really good too.

I do have a few minor complaints though. The knobs are junk. They feel loose like they are about to break. It's not assembled well or just not made well. The other beef I have is the reverb. It just downright sucks. Sounds like a tin can, and the 2 knobs to adjust the reverb time and delay just make it sound worse. It's not too big a deal because I am mainly running this to my M-Box into Pro Tools, which has WAY better effects.

Over all this does what it is supposed to so I would reccomend it, unless you need onboard reverb then search elswhere.

Comments about Peavey PVI 8B Powered Mixer:

I use this for a trio acoustic show in a small place. More than enough power for me. I plug a bass directly into the mixer and go to town. Guitar and vocals are great, the layout is simple enough to make quick changes on the fly when needed. We run a monitor and main off of this- it would be nice to have a monitor mix, or at least a balance control, but We're working just fine without it.
I'll give it 4 for features. EQ for each channel, over 5 band EQ, effect level for ea channel.
No bablance option though. All mono.
a 10 so far, I've had this for over a year and used it regularly with no issues at all
I'm ok with the price I paid for this, but cheaper would always be better

I like Peavey equipment. I thought the small frame and many channels would be ideal for small engagements; it's very portable. The sound was terrible. The reverb sounded tinny. I immediately boxed it up and sent it back.

Comments about Peavey PVI 8B Powered Mixer:

My wife and I bought this mixer around June last year 2008 and it has worked great! for us. We are in a small building and the sound is good we want to use it this summer outdoors and see how it works at that time. We also have a youth outreach so the sound quality is important and the fact that it has the effects on each line is nice. Not a bad product at all. It is working well so far. We use it for all our vocal and music needs.
