Just buy them. You can even find a plastic tote that will hold both the speakers because of their compact size. Worst case scenario, they're great for backyard parties.
Sound wise, it really doesn't matter how much you spend or what brand. Speakers this small are not going to compare with something that has 15" woofers and more power.

Durability wise, they're great. I take very good care of my gear and I'm very careful with it. I did modify these speakers with an amp style retracting handle on the top of each one. The plastic handles that are indented in the cabinet are very thin, flimsy and I didn't feel comfortable carrying them around that way. I also replaced the cheap cables before I even used it. The ones they supply are not much different than the wires used for a home stereo (that is not meant to be repetively setup and torn down).

I have been using these EVERY week for the last year and half at a small bar gig. I wanted something light weight and small. It's not a big place, the crowd varies from 20-60 people and they aren't willing to pay me enough to bring in my big system.

They work and if you treat them well, they will hold up. I've easily gotten my $200 out of them and I'd buy them again.
Cables and handles are cheap (get real cables and add amp handles to the top of each speaker). Other than that... they good.
Seriously... where else are you going to get this kind of system WITH speaker stands (free gift) for $200??? NO WHERE!

Great price for a small system, low income preforming artists salute you Phonic.
We got this thing for our band cause we needed a small PA to get started, For the 200 clams it's worked out great, construction is good sound for price is great. The only thing that bugedme was its mixing capacity. Before our first show where we were going to use this it began cutting out at practice. I believe because its a less expensive system it wasnt really designed to handle all of it's inputs being in use at the same time (maybe if your using just mics in all four you might be ok). We were afraid of blowingthis thingup before the show so thankfully an old friend and once bandmate lent us his Squire 4 PA (a very similar system now discontinued) for the night and eventually sold it to us. havent hadan issue since so as long as your not using more than one guitar, or other instruments everything in my theory should be ok. THe Record line out also made it possibly to record a demo by rigging it to a hand held recorder, another plus with this set up. One other thing i find usefull about these kind of systems is for the guys who cant afford a huge marshall amp can plug a line from their smaller amps DI out into these to get an additial set of speakers to boost their decible count.
Not the best mixer for a full band, it could not handle 2 acoustic guitars + 2 vocal mics for too much time. I thing it made the system clip when both guitars were playing with both mics singing all at once. We actualy lended the mic to another band recently the one night at a show and didnt sound too bad suprisingly, it was the firsttime we used it so its possible it wont last long with frequent use.
Speaker cables have held up over its first year and still work like day one, they do seem cheap though and seem like they could get a short real easy, they remind me of thin computer speaker cables but with 1/4" jacks rather than 1/8" and we actually havent heard the sound of the speakers with higher quality cables yet but they still work and produce a useable signal after taking it out to a good number of shows (we take good care of them).
Geat value for the price, the system is is solid construction, sounds good, and works great for a small band or practice PA. Mutliple INSTRUMENTS should probably not be plugged into this thing to avoid overpowering and cliping the mixer but remeber its an 80W progamed system, not a $1,000 venue house system. If you need something better than your spare 15W amp that came with your first guitar for vocals, an electric drummer, ipod DJ, or your in a solo accoustic act this system is defintly for you.

A great assist for teaching outdoors

By John Boch

from Illinois

Comments about Phonic Powerpod 410/S710 PA Package:

Highly recommended.
My friend, a former professional musician, recommended this particular setup here. On his recommendation, we picked one of these up last spring to amplify our voices during outdoor lectures at our firearm training classes and it's been a huge success. Works wonderfully with wireless lapel mics.

The Youth Camp also used it on movie night to great success.

At our latest class, we used it on the firing line when I forgot to bring the bullhorn. It went over so well that we're never going back to a bullhorn again and I'm ordering a second set to be dedicated to the range. Students wearing ear protection can easily hear the range commands (and we're running 20+ students on the line at once.... it's a good 30 yards wide and *everyone* can hear clearly. We still had lots of "horsepower" left in the amplifier, too.

For the money, you can't beat this PA.
Like new after 100 hours of use. No glitches, problems or anything else.
One heckuva value.

Comments about Phonic Powerpod 410/S710 PA Package:

Inexspensive, easy to use, and durable. I use this system for practice every week with my band, and I do sound for shows, talent shows, and even graduations with this system. It's very simple, but straight forward. All the stuff you need without complications.

The speakers are really clear, and can handle a full ensamble no problem. I run bass guitar, 2 electric guitars, and multiple vocals through it at once, and the speakers can take it.

My only complaint would be that the speakers can sometimes be awkward to carry, but I wouldn't change that. The wedge shape is really great for projecting sound, and they are even ready to be mounted if you have the equipment.

Comments about Phonic Powerpod 410/S710 PA Package:

We use this primarily for vocals in a pop-rock cover band. We have had 3 mics and one acoustic guitar running through it and the sound quality was excellent. We have used it with drums and it can handle enough volume for the vocals to cut through clearly. I am very impressed with this package. It does exactly what it should do and it does it well.
Nothing special, but for the price, it delivers a nice tone for vocals and acoustic guitar.
Been using it for a few weeks now. A few rehearsals and one gig. No problems with any of the components. My wife is the lead singer in our band and she loves the sound quality of the mic that came with the package.
I remember looking for something like this a few years ago and there was nothing in this price range at all. When I was in the market for a small PA system again recently, I was amazed that there was one available at this price. I was even more amazed that it got generally good reviews and even further amazed that it really is a great little PA system.

Comments about Phonic Powerpod 410/S710 PA Package:

I've been using this as a practice PA for the last eight months, and it's held up nicely. We're a four-piece punk/hardcore/metal band and this has just enough power to allow us to hear ourselves screaming over our rather loud instruments once a week.

--It doesn't live in our practice space, so it's traveled quite a bit and takes all the minor abuse of gear transit.

--We've used it in three rather chaotic Karaoke events, where a PC is running into the RCA input jacks and four mics are connected simultaneously. This is less than ideal, but gets the job done. I'd suggest a PA with more onboard features for something that requires nuanced mixing like Karaoke does.

---It's pretty modestly powered, so if you're going to use it for a show, it's best suited for quieter music, and for VOCALS ONLY.

--Also, it took some more serious abuse at Karaoke, and the power light no longer turns on.

You can't treat this PA like an old Peavey powered mixer and just toss it around willy nilly. It's low-cost, so it must be treated gingerly if you want to keep it running for a long time. That being said, however, the price is absolutely great and makes this a must-buy for your band's at-home practice PA.

Comments about Phonic Powerpod 410/S710 PA Package:

I bought this PA system out of desperation. I had a music engagement scheduled, and my powered mixer decided to act up. I only needed a powered mixer, but this package deal was just too good of a bargain. It arrived just in time, and I had to use it for the event, not knowing what to expect. It worked flawlessly. The speaker cabs are not the greatest, but they sound good enough for what they are. The speaker cable input jacks are housed in plastic, so time will tell how well they hold up. The mounting holes for the speaker stands have no splines inside, so they are a little wobbly when mounted. The speaker cables were not as pictured, but looked like antennae wire (they were not labeled as speaker cable). The microphone is surprisingly good, although a little muddy at higher volumes. It's a great mic to let someone else use (if you don't want them spitting into your favorite mic), or for a backup mic. This package is actually a great value. I bought the Gold Coverage as insurance, so I should be good for the next three years. I like the old-school simplicity of the amp, this style is rapidly becoming unavailable. The whole unit is very portable and easy to set up and use. It's like a stripped-down standard transmission pickup truck, it just does its job.

This thing is great! A few issues with feedback at first but easily fixed within 20 minutes. I use this for practicing as I don't want to carry heavy cabs from my practice room to the site every time i have a gig. Guitar sounds magical on it and the delay is a nice touch. Vocals are great as well. It took me after 15 minutes to get a clear sound on the vocals though so some tweeking is needed. I was shocked on how good this product was for the price I paid. An easy 5 stars!

Comments about Phonic Powerpod 410/S710 PA Package:

WOW! This thing really sings. We used it for a gig at a fairly big hall and could not get past 3 on the master volume without folks complaining. The built in effect is a delay that is really nice on vocals and guitar. Would probably work nice on keys too.

The only drawback is that there are no monitor sends, and it can be hard to hear yourself in some situations. You can rig up something for mon if you have it. Other than that it is GREAT!

If you need good sound fast and cheap - Go for it! You can't beat it for the price.

I just plug my guitar directly into the PA amp (with an effects pedal) and it sounds great. I don't have to lug a heavy guitar amp around.

For smaller bands (only 4 inputs) this thing is hard to beat. And it can get LOUD and still sound good..

      Very pleased

      By Jonathan Toepp

      from Montana

Comments about Phonic Powerpod 410/S710 PA Package:

The only reason I didn't rate this at a full "10" is the short time that I have owned it. So far, it meets our needs for a practice pa system. We just practice last night, and I never once thought about the pa system. All we heard was how tight we sounded.
The only thing that I would recommend is that a label would be placed under each channel's inputs. Apparently, one can only either plug in a 1/4" jack in, or an XLR in. It looks like one could plug both in at the same time, but the instructions say not to do that. However, the instructions don't say why you shouldn't.
Otherwise, all other features work well. The effects feature is pretty cool, too.
Built sturdily. Speakers are heavy-duty. Amplifier sturdy as well; controls simple as well; great for beginner. Cables seem fine. The jury is still out on the mics. There are three singers; one of them isn't sure about the mics yet.
Well-built. Nothing seems shoddy. Everything works.
Great value. Got it for a great price, so opted for 2-yr. warranty with the money saved.

Does What It's Supposed to Do

      By Lucian Babb

      from Fredericksburg, Texas

Comments about Phonic Powerpod 410/S710 PA Package:

I give it a 9. Overall, it is inexpensive and it gets the job done. I am very happy with my purchase.
I give it an 8 on features. It is a 200 dollar P.A. system. It has just what a 200 dollar P.A. system should have. Limited EQ, the reverb is just fine. It's reverb. Whattya want? It cost 200 bucks!
Okay, first of all, as far as other reviewers go, if you go around dropping your equipment, you're going to end up with broken equipment, and deserve everything you get. Second, if merely transporting your equipment cause it to malfunction, then it is junk. That being said, I have had my Powerpod for about a year, and it has performed just fine. I mainly use it in my jam-room, and now I am running electric drums and vocals through it. It never goes even half of the way up. The reason I give it a 6 in quality is because I recently let someone borrow it for a family reunion, and all he did was use it for spoken vocals and music through an ipod, and now one of the speakers sounds like it might be blown. Which really sucks. My guess is, he just did ONE thing. A sudden burst of loud volume or bass or something, because he was unfamiliar with using equipment like that. This can happen to any speaker. I think though, that if it is used wisely, it will serve it's purpose just fine.
The value is fantastic. Mine even came with free speaker stands. They must've been trying to get rid of them because they sent me three. Anyway, 200 bucks for three cables, a mic, and a P.A. system? 10. Fantastic value.
