Pro functions that let you push your sound to the limit!
The fully professional Pioneer DJM-500 Pro DJ Mixer lets you explore a new world of sound by linking effects to the beat with Auto bpm counter. This exclusive Pioneer feature automatically measures the bpm of virtually any kind of dance music, enabling you to check tempo at a glance. You can and link the beat to certain effects (delay, echo, auto pan, and flanger) with very hip results. The DJM-500 mixer also includes a pitch shifter (corrects pitch within +/- one octave and alters voices when used with the mic), and several reverbs. A send/return lets you easily connect samplers and peripherals to your Pioneer Mixer. An effect on/off button automatically links an effect to the rhythm. Other features include 3-band EQ and peak meter for each channel. A Fader Start Play function overrides the Pause control to start the music when the fader is increased. It also works during Cross Fading. A Fader Back Cue Play can be used when connected to the CDJ series CD player. It allows you to return to a cue point by using the fader or cross fader. If you move either back and forth quickly, it creates an effect similar to scratching vinyl. Inputs include 2 mic, 2 CD, 2 line, and 3 phono. Controls on the Pioneer DJM-500 DJ Mixer include a booth monitor level, independent monitor selection, a monitor EQ that adjusts bass tone to set your beat in the mid or high range, and trim controls for each channel.

Great sounding pre-amps and you got to love the on-board effects. There is no curve though. Especially if you play hip hop, a curve is crucial. If you're a creative mix dj this should also bother you. The newer pioneer is the same thing with a curve, and a smooth feeling fader any battle dj will fall in love with. Buy the new one.
I have had my DJM500 for almost 5 years. It is excellent. I wouldn't trade it for the world. The sound is studio quality and the effects and crossfader are a force to be reckoned with. It is by far the industry standard.
Owned this beauty since the day they hit the shelf and I love it. I've used mine in over 30 desert parties, 10 forest and countless major rave and club events in the city and it stills works as it did when I first got it. Sound quality is consistent, build is solid and great features. Even easy to use FX to play with if your heart so desires. Still one of the best mixers on the market next to the DJM-600 and of course the series of Rane mixers.
Ok, ok most of you DJ's (or so called Dj's) might say that this is not one of th best mixers that money can buy. Well I would agree with that for the money you could spend somewhere else if you are thrifty. In addition, this particular mixer does not have the fader options for scratching (that doesn't mean you can't scratch on this mixer). Not all DJing styles revolve around the scatching technique. This mixer is for "mixing" and does it excellent. Even without its effects option this mixer lives up to it name and handles multitrack mixing beautifully. Furthermore, for those who want to play out this exact mixer is used in many of not all clubs and venues. If you're about playing smooth sets comfortably this is the mixer for you.
I actually purchased the DJM-500 as a used item. I have been very pleased with this product's longevity. You can create alot of effects with just the ones that are on the board. I'm still getting used to working this mixer. The bpm effect really helps to guide my beats with transitions.
I have been using the DJM-500 for 2 years now with no complaints. The crossover is smooth, the built in effects are excellent, sound clarity is superb. Only complaint: could use a talk-over switch and a second Mic input.
No complaints whatsoever. Excellent for getting your bedroom mixes sounding great and prepares you for the mixers in 85% of clubs today.
Excellent in many ways! ~ Really performs for the best quality sound. This mixer adds much more quality sound and boost to your overall setup, whether you are a mobile DJ or a club DJ. ~ Comparing the use of many mixers of my 19 years of DJing in clubs, this one is well above the many available because it adds more quality without pushing your other gear to the max and running the risk of any type of damage. ~It adds value to your equipment, the set up and well worth the money over time. ~NEW DJ? Work overtime to get this mixer! :)
Excellent for any application, but I find it VERy nice for mixing. I suppose it would be nice for scratching also. I have done my share of scratching on my old mixer and I do not plan on going back to scratching anytime soon. This mixer is definitely an industry standard!
