OVERVIEW

Personal monitoring taken to the next level.

POSSE is an acronym for Personal On-Stage Sound Environment, and the PM01 is precisely that, a device that allows performing musicians to tailor what they hear while on stage. It is an electronic earphone sound monitoring system that improves a performer’s ability to hear and control the audio blend of their own vocal, musical instrument, stereo ambient sounds, and a “house" or studio mix provided by a venue’s or studio's existing monitor system.

The POSSE is inserted between the performer’s vocal/instrument signals and the “house” public address system. This allows the performer to tap these signals without interruption as they are routed to the venue’s public address system and stage monitor system, allowing the performer to control their own in-ear monitor independent of the house system.

Comments about POSSE PM01 In-Ear Live Performance Monitor:

What do I bring to a gig? My bass in one hand, a 2U case in the other. No amp and no cabinet, which means no hernia. The 2U case contains my processor and my POSSE rig.

In just a few minutes, I'm finished setting up and get to watch comfortably as the guitar player negotiates with the sound guy for a good monitor mix. Knowing that I can make adjustments to my in-ear mix on the fly without changing what FOH gets from me lets me tweak levels to my heart's content once we start playing.

I replaced the stock MIDI cable with a much longer one, so now I can roam the stage and take my mix with me.

I don't understand why more people don't know about this solution. It's fantastic! I'll probably order another one soon just to have a backup.

Comments about POSSE PM01 In-Ear Live Performance Monitor:

This is an absolute must for serious musicians who don't have their own sound engineers and do a lot of gigs at venues which may not provide you the best services in terms of sound. You get full control over the volume level of your vocals, instrument, an aux in (which would be the usual monitor mix coming from the soundboard) and best of all, you can still hear the the room, the audience and your band mates through built in condenser mics and not feel isolated. Comes with a very decent mic for acoustic guitar and earphones. The compact carrying bag makes it really easy to take on the road with you, and it is extremely easy to assemble on the spot. I have not had any problems with the sound either, quality stuff. Perhaps in the future a wireless version would bring it even closer to perfection. All in all, a great buy. Get it now.

Comments about POSSE PM01 In-Ear Live Performance Monitor:

Control and versatility really describes this unit. I'm going back to doing a solo act and wanted to get rid of the old "wedge", so I went with a wireless in-ear-montoring system. It wasn't the most expensive, but even with good sound isolating ear monitors I didn't get the sound (volume, clarity) I was looking for. I contacted MF (where I bought the wireless system) and thought I would have to put a small mixer into the signal chain. Fortunately for me the rep. suggested this system, and based on her experience with it (she actually personally tested it at MF) she felt that it would satisfy my requirements. It definately gave me the volume control over voice, instrument, and an auxillary channel (a Porchboard Bass) to dial in the mix I wanted. I even have control over audience input (something the sound isolating earbuds eliminates, but it's nice to hear postive feedback). So for me, because I don't have a crew, this gives me the sound that I want and can adjust right from my microphone stand. Now I'm looking forward to using the unit in a couple of different configuations, which should make my practice and rehearsing easier. I would have given the unit 5 stars, but the earbuds are rather weak. Kudos to MF reps!
