PreSonus

High-quality pres and pro-grade A/D conversion turn your laptop into a powerful recording rig.

The PreSonus AudioBox USB 2x2 USB recording system is an excellent solution for achieving high-quality, professional-sounding recordings no matter where you are. The AudioBox USB is a USB bus-powered audio recording interface loaded with 2 microphone/instrument inputs with 48V phantom power, 2 balanced TRS outputs, and MIDI I/O so you can stay portable without sacrificing your sound. The AudioBox USB also comes with Studio One Artist music creation and production software which has the same platform and intuitive interface as Studio One Pro but with an unlimited track count so you can start recording right out of the box.

PreSonus Audio has won numerous awards for designing quality microphone preamplifiers for all price levels. The AudioBox USB is loaded with preamps that deliver high headroom, low noise, and high gain to give you pure, full, and rich sound. Most USB recording devices operate at a 16-bit sample rate and use converters with dynamic ranges of less than 90dB which gives you a pinched and relatively small sound. The AudioBox USB, however, uses professional-grade analog to digital converters with a dynamic range of 102dB and 24-bit sample rate so that the digital conversion is big, quiet, and musical, making it one of the best sounding USB bus-powered interface on the market.

The AudioBox USB is bus-powered giving you the flexibility you need with no wall warts, line lumps, or power cables. Just plug in to a powered USB port and you are ready to record. The AudioBox USB is housed in an all-metal chassis with metal knobs able to withstand the rigors of travel and your touring adventures. Just toss the AudioBox USB in your laptop bag and mobilize your music creation and production. Whether you're recording your shows, creating a mix on the plane, or writing songs in your hotel room, the AudioBox is ready to go.

It doesn't matter if you are a beginner or a professional this is a fantastic interface that every musician and producer should have in their recording tool kit.
I have a degree in Audio Engineering and Music production. This interface is an incredible piece of equipment. I have had no problems what so ever with it and have had fantastic results!
Well built, and laid out. Easy to set up and use.
For the price you can't beat it.

The Audiobox USB is, for the price, a pretty decent piece of equipment. Recordings are clear and have fairly good quality. For my use, I only use the Audiobox for rough recording on the go or when inspiration strikes, as the the quality is only demo worthy at best. Don't get me wrong- this interface is the absolute best out there for the price! For what I purchased this unit for, it cant be beaten. It is also very durable and easy to set up. I can just throw this in my bag and head out whenever needed. One of my only complaints for this unit is that when I have it hooked up to my new MacBook Pro, and the charger is also plugged in, you can not get a clean recording. There is all kind of hissing a cracking going one. I played around with all kinds of settings in Logic but none worked out. Later I was using the Audiobox as a live MIDI interface and just during practice, I ran a click track through my IPhone 5 (also while it was charging) and same thing, hiss and cracks everywhere. I took the charger out and it sounded fine. This is what leads me to believe that it is a problem with the unit, not my software. Overall great sounding unit with basic features to get the job done. Unless the problem that I encountered would be a major set back for you, I would say get the unit. Noting better for the price.

Comments about PreSonus AudioBox USB 2X2 USB Recording System:

This product according to Presonus tech support will not work properly if you have active pick ups. It will likely blow the preamps. My Audiobox USB is less than 1 week old and they want me to send it in for repairs. I don't think so. I would have accepted a replacement had they offered it but no way am I sending this in for repairs and it's only 1 week old. I'll never buy another Presonus product again.

      Nice Unit!!

Comments about PreSonus AudioBox USB 2X2 USB Recording System:

I mainly use linux, the AudioBox works well in my xubuntu/ubuntu-studio laptop with Celeron 1037U processor ...

      NOTE:
With Windows 8 I have to boot into win8 before the interface is plugged in, then it works fine!

It works fine with ASIO drivers in Reaper ...
So far Audacity doesn't seem to like it ???

Comments about PreSonus AudioBox USB 2X2 USB Recording System:

While the Audiobox USB interface I bought lasted almost a year, the frustration of dealing with presonus' customer service ended any thought of buying anything from this company again in this lifetime. The software package that came with the interface was pretty much useless as well. Do yourself a favor and avoid any product this company offers.

Comments about PreSonus AudioBox USB 2X2 USB Recording System:

The phantom power supply doesn't work. I've worked with three of these units and the phantom power was a problem on all of them. Phantom power produced a whine in the first one I bought. Tech support finally told me (via email) they've identified a problem with about 10% of their units(why don't they recall them?) Presonus tech support is the worst I've ever experienced. Don't expect to talk to anyone. Before I shipped mine back for repair I ordered another one for a backup. It was worse than the first one. Not only did the phantom power not work, but it wouldn't even connect to my PC. It would ocassionally work on my macbook but I never got it to work on a PC. I returned it as a defective unit.

I am not a studio engineer, i play guitar and drums. This unit has been nightmare installing software to using the many functions. The reference manual is not very helpful for a beginner. Called Presonus support and after an hour on hold did get answers to a few issues that should have been explained in the reference manual.Since then its been a struggle figuring out the basic functions.

Comments about PreSonus AudioBox USB 2X2 USB Recording System:

For the 1st thing. like other commenters said it is hard for the computer to recognize the AudioBox USB interface. Open the Audio config. inside the PreSonus Artist1 apps: AudioBox didn't play. Dialog box will appear many times- changed the USB 2.0 cable: still not works..! I use both Win.Vista and 7 Pro 32-bits. They-OS- wont' t take the Presonus AudioBox. At last, I tried to uninstall all sound from Window's control Panel. Reinstall the AudioBox- must use the Disk included in your purchase. Now it works but the output level is low -(Mix set at max playback)-compare with my Realtek Audio Dolby Pro sound card. Anyway, it works now I hope this AudioBox has more gain for its 2 preAmp and more inputs for me to play with. Probably PreSonus has the better AudioBoxes by now - their price are still to high so I has to wait for the Sale or some Stupid deal . The software is engineered great - quite Professional and clearly documented by PreSonus. I LIKE PreSonus & Native Inst. of Germany for all their Updaters!

I love the Audiobox USB interface and have really become addicted to the Studio One DAW software that I upgraded to Professional because it is well worth it with all it's state of the art performance and added plugins I have a state of the art system now on my laptop that in the old days would have been out of my reach, if you're up with technology and into music then this is the best platform to grow with, I've also just purchased the Presonus Eris Studio Monitors because I really trust this company and believe they are on the cutting edge of music technology, the recordings I'm working on now are superior to anything I've been able to do over the last 20 years of recording, love technology & love Presonus & Studio One!
