High-quality pres and pro-grade A/D conversion turn your laptop into a powerful recording rig.
The PreSonus AudioBox USB 2x2 USB recording system is an excellent solution for achieving high-quality, professional-sounding recordings no matter where you are. The AudioBox USB is a USB bus-powered audio recording interface loaded with 2 microphone/instrument inputs with 48V phantom power, 2 balanced TRS outputs, and MIDI I/O so you can stay portable without sacrificing your sound. The AudioBox USB also comes with Studio One Artist music creation and production software which has the same platform and intuitive interface as Studio One Pro but with an unlimited track count so you can start recording right out of the box.
PreSonus Audio has won numerous awards for designing quality microphone preamplifiers for all price levels. The AudioBox USB is loaded with preamps that deliver high headroom, low noise, and high gain to give you pure, full, and rich sound. Most USB recording devices operate at a 16-bit sample rate and use converters with dynamic ranges of less than 90dB which gives you a pinched and relatively small sound. The AudioBox USB, however, uses professional-grade analog to digital converters with a dynamic range of 102dB and 24-bit sample rate so that the digital conversion is big, quiet, and musical, making it one of the best sounding USB bus-powered interface on the market.
The AudioBox USB is bus-powered giving you the flexibility you need with no wall warts, line lumps, or power cables. Just plug in to a powered USB port and you are ready to record. The AudioBox USB is housed in an all-metal chassis with metal knobs able to withstand the rigors of travel and your touring adventures. Just toss the AudioBox USB in your laptop bag and mobilize your music creation and production. Whether you're recording your shows, creating a mix on the plane, or writing songs in your hotel room, the AudioBox is ready to go.

It doesn't matter if you are a beginner or a professional this is a fantastic interface that every musician and producer should have in their recording tool kit.
I have a degree in Audio Engineering and Music production. This interface is an incredible piece of equipment. I have had no problems what so ever with it and have had fantastic results!
Well built, and laid out. Easy to set up and use.
For the price you can't beat it.

The Audiobox USB is, for the price, a pretty decent piece of equipment. Recordings are clear and have fairly good quality. For my use, I only use the Audiobox for rough recording on the go or when inspiration strikes, as the the quality is only demo worthy at best. Don't get me wrong- this interface is the absolute best out there for the price! For what I purchased this unit for, it cant be beaten. It is also very durable and easy to set up. I can just throw this in my bag and head out whenever needed. One of my only complaints for this unit is that when I have it hooked up to my new MacBook Pro, and the charger is also plugged in, you can not get a clean recording. There is all kind of hissing a cracking going one. I played around with all kinds of settings in Logic but none worked out. Later I was using the Audiobox as a live MIDI interface and just during practice, I ran a click track through my IPhone 5 (also while it was charging) and same thing, hiss and cracks everywhere. I took the charger out and it sounded fine. This is what leads me to believe that it is a problem with the unit, not my software. Overall great sounding unit with basic features to get the job done. Unless the problem that I encountered would be a major set back for you, I would say get the unit. Noting better for the price.

Comments about PreSonus AudioBox USB 2X2 USB Recording System:
I got this to have a light recording rig for live shows, buddies house ect. They claim (PreSonus) that this is a core audio device and will work with the new mac's and they will, sort of. At first it wouldn't work at all with my new MacBook Pro. I tried three different usb cables and nothing, so I called PreSonus, don't call PreSonus you don't talk to them just their cattle shoot phone people, and they claimed that it was my Mac. So i tried it on my guitar players older iMac and bam, worked great. So did some digging and the only thing really different was that his Mac was usb 2.0 and mine is 3.0. So hours of surfing and days later I find just about everyone in my place has the same issue with no solution, so back to PreSonus. They still claim that their device works with usb 3.0 just fine (it doesn't) and it must be my machine. Then when all hope was lost I happened upon someone out there with a solution, can't remember the name but I still give them the credit. If you take a usb 2.0 extension cable or multi point interface and plug it into the 3.0 port in the Mac and then the cable from the PerSonus to the extension it works, sometimes. Still it's hit or miss and I never know witch it will be and it never quite works right plugged in like this. I still can't use 2 mics at once, but I can plug my guitar in direct and use a mic at the same time, weird hun. But it works great on older Mac's and PC's.

Comments about PreSonus AudioBox USB 2X2 USB Recording System:
I bought this to try home recording. I've been subscribing to The Recording Revolution for a while but I didn't have the gear to do anything. This AudioBox solved that mostly, and I just did my first session with my new toy. I did break down and buy another computer. My old Dell XP with 1 GB of Ram was not enough. And I had other priorities - new house, sewer problems, new truck, brake problems, etc - so it took me a few weeks to get around to it. Bottom line: it takes some work to figure it out. It is not as intuitive as I would like, and the manual is too nerd-techy for an old geezer like me. But it works, and it's cool stuff.

Comments about PreSonus AudioBox USB 2X2 USB Recording System:
My desktop - with a Mia Midi Echo sound card - had been having problems for a while, and finally conked out. I didn't want to mess with it anymore, and hoped there was an easy way to record with my Dell Venue 11 Pro tablet. The Dell's audio is primitive, but the Presonus Audiobox USB allows me to record everything (including midi data) through the Dell's USB port. The Presonus controls are simple, but intuitive and powerful. The inputs accept mic or guitar cables in the same hole, and the sound is excellent. I'm back in the recording business for much less than I would've had to pay to get the desktop working again.
