The Audiobox USB is, for the price, a pretty decent piece of equipment. Recordings are clear and have fairly good quality. For my use, I only use the Audiobox for rough recording on the go or when inspiration strikes, as the the quality is only demo worthy at best. Don't get me wrong- this interface is the absolute best out there for the price! For what I purchased this unit for, it cant be beaten. It is also very durable and easy to set up. I can just throw this in my bag and head out whenever needed. One of my only complaints for this unit is that when I have it hooked up to my new MacBook Pro, and the charger is also plugged in, you can not get a clean recording. There is all kind of hissing a cracking going one. I played around with all kinds of settings in Logic but none worked out. Later I was using the Audiobox as a live MIDI interface and just during practice, I ran a click track through my IPhone 5 (also while it was charging) and same thing, hiss and cracks everywhere. I took the charger out and it sounded fine. This is what leads me to believe that it is a problem with the unit, not my software. Overall great sounding unit with basic features to get the job done. Unless the problem that I encountered would be a major set back for you, I would say get the unit. Noting better for the price.

I bought the inexpensive combo. For amateur use you will be as happy as I am. I'm amazed that I can lay down vocal, guitar, keyboard tracks so easily. My 1st recording setup so cannot make comparisons. Bottom line is I can finally be a STAR 'in my one mind'. ...and maybe in someone else's too. Wish I'd done this long ago.

I bought the AUDIOBOX USB 2X2 USB RECORDING SYSTEM for recording local school performances on a netbook. The software installed easily (even without reading much of the instructions.) It tamed the hot levels coming off my condenser mics nicely with low self-noise. The metal case and volume control knobs have a sturdy feel about them.
I use other Sound Forge editing software, so I haven't delved into the included package very much. It does seem to have most of what I am currently using though.
I got my best recordings in 25 years of concerts and my load of equipment gets smaller and lighter each year, THAT makes me happy! I've even used it on some radio commercial recordings.

Am just getting started and tried an M-audio Fast Trak Pro and Pro Tools. Difficult to load, get synched up, and microphones did not work well. Return for the Presonus AudioBox and Studio One software, and totally different experience. Interface box is solid and built. Software loaded and recognized device seamlessly. Youtube videos are very helpful to get up and recording as Manual is not perfect...but learning is part of the fun. Microphones (dynamic and condenser) work very well and preamps are very nice. Great choice for a beginner and we'll see how far this takes me.

Overall I really like it. It's simple and easy to set up with built in phantom power for dynamic mics and convenient dual TRS combo jacks to accommodate 2 1/4" inputs, 2 XLR inputs or any combination thereof. I probably won't use the midi function any time soon but so far this thing has worked quite nicely with good quality sound. My one issue was that I had to reinstall drivers because at one point I tried to start up the Studio One software and it wouldn't recognize the interface. What can I say, USB problems. Anyway, good portable and convenient product for amateur or on-the-go recording. also, the description says not compatible with Windows Vista 64-bit but this isn't true. It works fine on my dm4 notebook with 64-bit Vista.
