Comments about PreSonus Studio Channel Tube Channel Strip:
This thing is great. If you're thinking about it, buy it. I had an Art PAC before this and was never totally happy with that, mainly because of the noise it added to the signal. Got this baby and was blown away at the sound quality. No noise at all. Just warm, adjustable tube tone and a wealth of great features. There are so many ways to dial in the sound just right, including bypassing the compressor and EQ, rollover buttons, knobs for adjusting the Q, knobs for setting the frequency, all the parameters you could want for the compressor, and more. From looking around, it seems like most of the other options in this price range have almost all the same features, but it really is that crystal clear warm sound that makes this the right choice. This, and a decent condenser mic, can get you really close to a professional studio sound.

I've got to say: MusiciansFriend has done it again with a fine piece of equipment. This Presonus has some of the smoothest laid back vocals a person could ask for with just about any studio microphone that has been tested on it. I use this equipment for music but mostly vocals for broadcasting on the airways and I have had nothing but beautiful comments in regards to this equipment. I HIGHLY recommend it to others, and I will be purchasing a second one next month. 1 recommended suggestion on this product, it does come equipped with a cheap tube, I would suggest getting the Mullard tube for it, and it increases the percentage abit more on audio. You will not go wrong with this equipment. Thank You MusiciansFriend and Presonus for fine equipment.

Comments about PreSonus Studio Channel Tube Channel Strip:
I use this live for my acoustic (Breedlove Solo C350) into a powered monitor (EV SXA250) and also to FOH. VS guitar straight to monitor/board the improvement is pretty amazing. I'm now hearing nuances in the plugged in tone that have been only audible when fingerpicking in my room.
The pickup/preamp system on theses guitars is generally considered pretty good which I can back that up--I A/B'd the plugged in tone of this guitar with a lot of different and much more expensive guitars and this guitar shined. I have in the past used my Eleven Rack set up as a quasi channel strip for it with compression/eq which worked fairly well.
That said, the Studio Channel takes the plugged in tone of this guitar to another level--as it should be being that it is analog and vacuum tube. As much as I love my digital gear there is no substitute for an analog signal path. I'm able to make the guitar sound so much more dynamically interesting through this thing which I suppose is the hallmark of a good preamp. Why bother with an "acoustic preamp" when you could be using one of these? I can't wait to use it for Bass and vocals for recording.

High quality, versatile, great price. My first mic pre and outboard gear, it works great. I was really excited when it arrived. My SM-57 sounds amazing through it. Haven't gotten a chance to run vocals through it yet. Looking forward to it.

I gave it a 10 across the board because for the price, you get an amazing mic-preamp.....There's no need to go into a bunch of details about it other than to just say It's if your looking for a mic-preamp in this price range, well this is it.....Fits right at home in my studio and has already paid for itself.....

You can drive yourself insane researching the outboard gear that's going to take your recordings to the next level. I spent 3 months reading 100's of reviews about 100's of different products in every price range and finally ended up with a pair of these channel strips on the recommendation of a buddy of mine from a "big studio" and I couldn't be happier! My very first project out of the box with these channel strips required classical guitar (recorded direct), acoustic guitar (direct), bass (direct) and vocals. I set the channel strips up just how presonus had recommended with their very handy, and included, "setup suggestions" and began recording.Once a simple mix was complete, I had a finished recording that completely blew away anything I had recorded without them. Exceptional warmth, headroom, presence, clarity, punch and all of the other attributes you would desire from a GREAT channel strip. You do NOT need to spend 1,000's of dollars on mic pre's, compressors and EQ's to make truly stellar recordings... take it from me!I did the homework for you and this was the best money I have ever spent on any gear period.

This thing rocks if you know how to use it correctly. Like with any compressor you have to know how to use it first to get the sound you want. you don't have to be a recording genius either. experimenting for long periods of time will get you there. The 12AX7 should deffinently be replaced because its a cheap chinees tube. Changing the tube is simple and you can put a great tube in it for cheap. i recommend a NOS(new old stock) tube. because the quality of them is far better than todays standards. you can find them very easlily. The EQ works very well to. You can do wonders with this thing. For the price you are not gonna get better!!!!!!!
Comments about PreSonus Studio Channel Tube Channel Strip:
Unit looks slick, a deep blue face with a backlit VU meter, which works just fine. The preamp has alot of gain, clear, with no audible self noise till around +40db. The "tube drive" function routes the audio signal to the tube, which is a Chinese 12AX7. I like this tube drive function, it allows me to pre-position the source from front to back, with %0 being the back and %100 being the front. I didn't like the tube that it came with. I took the top plate off, which is so easy you almost think it's made just so you can switch out the tube with a brand new gold pinned Tung-Sol 12AX7, genius. The compressor is nice, with the ability to switch to a soft knee operation, and a switch that positions the compressor after the EQ, so lovely. I don't use the "auto" function very much, but it doesn't let you down. The EQ is versatile enough for tracking, with the ability to clean up some problem frequencies. Overall, the sound of the Studio Channel is focused, musical, and has plenty of dimension. With the tube drive routing the signal to the 12AX7 there is more movement; the sound seems to come alive. That being said, this is not the destination of sound, it is merely a stepping stone. It is not ideal, but it will get you there.
Comments about PreSonus Studio Channel Tube Channel Strip:
I purchased this unit a few weeks ago. It only took me reading through the manual and a few hours of tweaking to fully grasp how versitil this device is. I've tried many preamps over my years of experience as an artist and recording engineer. Finally I found the one that gives me that pro sound which I was looking for. Again, I must stress that this unit has somewhat of a learning curve. The manual comes with some awsome pre-sets and tutorials to help you understand exactly how to use all the settings. The compressor seems very transparent. Also, the eq is very versital. With this unit, a set of Mackie monitors, and a high quality AD/DA Interface you will be sure to develop a professional sound in your home studio. Since upgrading to the presonus studio channel my recordings can easily compete with the quality of million dollar studios. I would highly recommend this great product. One additional note: This unit will not help you if your using cheap chines microphones. At minimum I would recommend the AKG C214 OR the Sure KSM 32. Cheap Mic = Cheap Recording!
