Rode Microphones

Popular condenser mic with shock mount, integrated pop filter, 20' XLR cable, dust cover, and instructional DVD.

To celebrate 15 years of the RØDE NT1 and NT1-A, RØDE Microphones has created a revised NT1-A package including a premium shock mount, pop filter, cable, microphone dust cover, and a bonus instructional DVD.

Originally released in 1995, the RØDE NT1 mic is found in professional and project studios the world over. Its combination of clarity, warmth, extended dynamic range and high SPL capability made it an instant classic with professional engineers and home recording artists alike.

Following heavy investment in precision manufacturing, RØDE revised the microphone capsule and electronic design of the NT1, resulting in only 5dB SPL (A-weighted per IEC651) of self noise. Released in 2003 as the NT1-A, it has since become one of the world's biggest selling and most recognizable condenser microphones.

Now RØDE has truly made the NT1-A the complete recording solution by including a premium shock mount with integrated pop filter, high-quality 6m (20') XLR cable, microphone dust cover and even a bonus instructional DVD. Presented by RØDE founder and company president, Peter Freedman, The NT1-A Studio Secrets DVD features a range of tips and techniques to help RØDE NT1-A owners get the most from their new microphone.

  • Large 1" (25mm) capsule with gold plated diaphragm

Rode NT-1A Condenser Mic Bundle

| Review By: Gordon Shehab | 1 month, 2 weeks ago

Features:

The bundle provides everything you'd need to mount the mic to a mic stand. My voice is deep, and while people like the sound of my voice live, my voice sounds awful when recorded.  After using several vocal mics, I decided to try a condenser mic.

After researching and reading user reviews, I decided on the Rode NT-1A.  It's very sensitive so you don't have to get on top of the mic to be heard.  The wind screen and shock mount provided with the bundle keep me from getting too close to the mic, and eliminated any "p" popping.  I'm very happy with the results.  Now my voice sounds more natural and clear on recordings.  With other mics, it always sounded like my voice was muffled.  The bundle also comes with a good mic cable and DVD with some tips on mic placement, etc.  I would recommend this mic especially with the bundle.

Loved it so much I bought 2!

Features:

My college had a couple sets of these and I liked their smooth sound so much I bought two. I use them predominatnly to record orchestral and/or choral music in a church, meaning that low self-noise (they test at about 6dB, which is waaaay low) is a huge plus -- no hissssssss in the quiet parts. The included shockmount in the package is a huge plus, too, although the pop filter assembly is a bit cheesy if I'm honest -- with the filter plus mic, it gets quite heavy for the little hinge that moutns to the mic stand, so you either have to crank down on the wingnut or accept that it will droop.

Quality:

Rode build quality is very impressive. The nickel will probably show scratches easily...

Value:

The best thing about this mic is that for the price you're getting a fantastically quiet large-diaphragm condenser that blows any others at this price range out of the water. It's not a flat frequency response, though, as it's got a bit of a bright personality with a boost at and above 2khz.

Overall:

Simply can't be beat in this price range. It's a good mic, and not just "for the money" either.

I just purchased this mic and hooked it up to my GA Pre-73  pre amp and it takes phantom power. I will be using it for vocals only. My voice is mid-rangy so I use a SM-57 instead of the 58 that most people use. This NT1A is very loud and it took a while to calm it down. The eq is flat on my board with just a little bass. With other mics it would be boomy but this Rode is really lush and warm. I was very surprised. It is a very bright mic but you can get any sound you want if you are patient and precise with the eq. Just a touch will make a difference. Everybody says how sensitive it is but I was not expecting it to be this sensitive. It is really a beautiful sounding instrument. When you screw it into the shock-mount ( included ) it ends up facing the side so you have to loosen it a half turn so it will face the front ( a small engineering flaw). For my voice, at least, I couldn't have got a better sounding mic at any price. It's perfect for my vocal range and I love the richness it adds to the overall tone. Perfect.

Overall:
I have a home studio like everyone. Right?  I've recently upgraded to the Rode NT1A specifically for vox. I don't have a lot of time for experimentation so this mic is perfect for me. I set it up and it accurately captures my vocalists voice. Period. Accurate. I don't have time for polar patterns and hours to spend finding the right mic position, polar pattern, etc... I have a real job and a life. But I love music and recording. This mic is perfect for me. Set it up and record. For $200 (with coupon)I finally can capture good vocals. My experience rate this mic as a 5 in all categories. The End.  No Room For Bill
