Welcome to an exciting new era of “visual” audio manipulation. R-MIX software — powered by Roland’s newly developed V-Remastering technology in conjunction with VariPhrase — lets you see the components of a stereo mix as color-coded clouds of energy and harmonic matter as the song plays! Select your desired components of the mix, and freely edit them — an impossible task in the past. You can change panning positions and levels to individual instruments within a stereo mix, for example, and add effects to each element as desired. You can even independently adjust the pitch and speed of the playback, realized with VariPhrase.
How does this power translate to you? You can use R-MIX to easily create “minus-one” type karaoke files from existing songs by lowering the level of a pre-recorded vocal or any other instrument you select within each mix. You can also create your own remixes and mash-ups by using two pairs of stereo tracks within R-MIX. As a skill-building tool, R-MIX can be used to isolate any desired instrument within a mix, and then solo and slow down that element for study; isolate a fast guitar solo, for example, and slow it down to learn it. R-MIX can be used to clean up old recordings and master stereo mixes by adjusting individual instrument levels and applying noise reduction and effects, and all with ease and at a high level of sound quality.

HIGH-QUALITY SOUND
As with any audio processing software, results with R-MIX are dependent on the source quality. R-MIX provides high-quality, natural-sounding results with few undesirable artifacts, glitches, or over-modulated sounds. And once you’ve finished your project, you can export it as an audio file and play it on any standard music-playback device, or import the file into your favorite music-software program.
EFFECTS AND NOISE CANCEL
Add effects only to any specific part of a mix, such as vocals, and clean up your mixes with the built-in Noise Cancel, which eliminates undesirable hiss and hum noises. Delay and reverb effects are also onboard, letting you add depth and expression to each element (or all) of your mix.
CREATE YOUR OWN MIXES
You can easily make “minus-one” type karaoke files from existing songs by lowering the level of the pre-recorded vocal or any other instrument you select. Using the same technique in reverse, you can solo an individual part and analyze it for study; slow down a fast guitar solo, for example, and learn how to play it. Create mash-ups and remixes with stereo files as if they were multitracks. The sky’s the limit!

How dare a reputable company like Roland release such a RIPOFF of a product. It hardly does any of the things advertised if you can say it does any of it. To be frank the interface is extremely user friendly the only problem is getting the software to do something useful let alone something worth the price tag. THOROUGHLY DISAPPOINTED.

The R-Mix software enables me to go back to cuts I recorded years ago and bring them up to internet quality. I was even able to take a few cuts recorded on an older Fostex and clean up the sound considerably. The equalizer and delay add a clean shimmer to songs I have recorded that were somewhat flat and dull in tone before running them through the software. While I have not yet been able to completely isolate a vocal or guitar part, the overall improvement to an existing mix is worth the expense-I would recommend it highly-MF Foster
And, of course, respect to Musician's Friend for the purchase.

They say there's a sucker born every minute. Well, I fell for this one. Been dreaming of the possibilities since I learned of this program. In fairness to me, I knew I was taking a gamble. Too good to be true? Many people were asking if this program would truly be able to isolate an individual sound for remixing? The word "stem" was used. Not sure what that means except that to remix a song, you would certainly need to isolate individual tracks. This program does not do that! Funny that they decided to call it "R-Mix". It would be even more funny had I not just spent money on it. If I could return this item I would, without hesitation. In fact, the only reason I'm leaving this review is because I can't. It's software and you can't return software. I bought this program for two reasons. I wanted to be able to remove a vocal from a song and, more importantly, I wanted to make my vinyl recordings shine. After loading the first wav file, it quickly became apparent that this is nothing more than a fancy bandwidth EQ type thing. Sorry, I'm not an audio expert here but I know what I hear. Tried using the Noise Cancel feature to remove some tape hiss. It removes the hiss but leaves unwanted anomalies. Don't know what else to say. This program is a major disappointment. Guess I'll forget about ever trying to remix anything. Focusing now on cleaning up those vinyl records. It's looking like Izotope's RX2 may be the best bet for this. Think I'll download the demo and try it out first this time. Maybe I'm doing something wrong. Oh, also should mention that the screen is not expandable to fit the whole of your monitors screen. This is a bit annoying because the window you're working with is not that big to begin with.
