I have a 25 year old Roland S10 Sampling keyboard that I wanted to download sampling patches to. With this cable and MIDI-OX I was able to accomplish this task. The conventional understanding with MIDI plugs is that you plug IN to OUT and OUT to IN. Well Roland marked the cables with CONNECT TO IN and CONNECT TO OUT which is done to mitigate this counter intuitive issue of IN to OUT and OUT to IN. All I initial saw in the dim light of my studio was the IN and OUT label on the plug. Once I realized that I had connect the cable incorrectly and fixed that everything worked as expected.

Numerous unsuccessful attempts to install on Windows 8.1 despite getting updated driver from Roland website. Installed on a Windows 7 computer to make sure cable was working. Finally in searching internet, found yet another update that was in a part of the support section I couldn't access directly when I went to Roland help section for Windows.

Comments about Roland UM-ONE MK2 USB MIDI Interface:

Works well with Windows, no problems, and the driver installation was fairly easy. Downloaded drivers from Roland web site because my DVD drive is broken.

Has anybody on here been able to get this working with Linux? It would be nice to take an old computer that somebody is throwing away, load Debian Linux (very fast), ZynAddSubFX, and have a dedicated synthesizer.

Comments about Roland UM-ONE MK2 USB MIDI Interface:

I needed a MIDI interface for my new computer, and the Roland fit the bill perfectly. Taking MIDI through the USB port is very convenient and helps me keep cords out of the way when I don't need them. So far as quality is concerned, Roland never disappoints me.
