Comments about Samson XP150 Portable PA System:

I needed a compact, portable P.A. that I could haul to 'Bike Nights' with my motorcycle and the small trailer that it tows. In that respect: I believe it is hands down THE BEST for me. I compared it to the "Behringer Europort Ultra Compact 150W 5Ch Port Pa Sys W/ Fx" (http://www.musiciansfriend.com/pro-audio/behringer-europort-ultra-compact-150w-5ch-port-pa-sys-w-fx), which sell for the same price. I believe the Behringer is actually a better P.A. in many respects, BUT it occupies more space AND weighs about 16 lbs more. I settled on Samson because Behringer would not honor a 15% off promotion at a time when Samson did.
I have used it to perform at Bike Nights now, and my only complaint performance wise is it's lack of power: I had it cranked up to 75% on Master and it was just loud enough for that outdoor event. I have another PA which is rated at 100 watts, and it has FAR more volume capability than this so-called 150 watt system.
On another note, I feel that they should include some type of cover/ guard for the mixer, as it is completely exposed when in the transport mode. In other words: the dials/ controls and all are exposed when it is all 'bundled up/ ready for transport. A simple plastic cover would protect it, IF it were included.
For my shows, I plug a mic into channel 1, then plug my Fender Mustang Mini (battery powered) into the 'stereo input' on channel 4/5. I add a slight amount of reverb to the mic, the amp has all the effects I need for guitars. I am basically a 1 man show, but have the capability to add a second person on vocals and guitar if I need to (channels 2 & 3). Like I said, for my purposes: this is probably the best PA, I just wish they would have added a cover for the mixer AND it had a little more power.
