I have used this as a speech only mic for small stage productions, live vocals in a small band, and for recording. Absolutely no noise on the recording. I am currently looking for the funds to buy two more of these packages.
I've been buying these packages for our voice recording studios where I work. The Senneheiser 825 mic is incredibly transparent and renders very realistic vocals, with very little "proximity effect" so common in other similarly priced microphones. I've used them for vocals in both studio and live situations, and am anxious to try them in other applications (instrument and drum miking). My only "gripe" is that the mic stand isn't the best in the world. But, it's fine for studio and light road work.
I bought three of these a few months back and they are really good! One of the stands had a bad elbow-joint, but overall the mics are great and this package can't be beat. We use them at church all the time and they sound great.
This was a good starter microphone for me.
