The Perfect Introduction to Wireless!

| Review By: Tom Lodewyck | 3 weeks, 6 days ago

Features:

Light weight and extremely durable!

I am a very physical frontman / singer, the FreePort has endured mic stand spins and smakedowns, soft harmonies and searing high-notes.

Plug it in and start Rockin' - Easy setup and tear-down.

Cons: Only 4 channels available

Quality:

Light weight plastic design

Only 1 D battery required

Fantastic range!

Value:

Unbeatable value!

I was nervous about how the FreePort would perform, because I paid such a low price for the system.

Don't let the price fool you, this is a quality item at a great discount!

Overall:

After many (many) years of being tethered by a mic cable, I decided it was time to go wireless. Not knowing a whole lot about them, except for the horror stories I'd heard from other singers about them failing in the middle of a song, I was a bit hesitent to say the least...

I knew that I didn't want to spend a lot of money, because my knowledge was so limited. I figured that for this price, if it didn't work up to it's expectations, I'd just throw it back in the box and toss it in the closet with the rest of my unused equipment and it wouldn't hurt as much.

I am happy to report that my Sennheiser FreePort system has been through more that a dozen shows with me now, and I haven't experianced any difficulties with it what-so-ever... It has been simply amazing! I highly recommend this dynamic workhorse for all those whom are considering going wireless. I really can't think of too many negatives, except that it only comes with 4 channels, so I discovered early on that I was using the same channel as my bass player. This was easily fixed by switching to another channel. Other then that and the fact that it's made predominately of plastic, I love everything about the FreePort!

In this day and age, wireless seems to be the only way to go for singers, and Sennheiser has made this transaction simple and reasonably priced. Try it! I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.

Foreever I've been getting by on the cheap with a $100 Audio Technica and figured it was time that I spend a little more money.  Unfortunately I had to return this one.  The quality of the audio wasn't as good as the cheap AT I've been using.

I bought this unit for the translator of our church, and ended up using it for my lead singer. very clean and clear sound. if you are looking for good vocal chordless mics and don't have the money to buy the industry standard this is a great starter chordless unit. when you buy this unit consider the distance the receiver is going to be.
