I just bought these today after trying them out beside the AKG K240 studio headphones and Sony MDR 7509 HD studio headphones, and it only took about five seconds of Clapton's "Run Back to Your Side" from his new self title album for me to decide which were better. I love them for personal mixes and just jamming some tunes. The picture makes them look kind of ugly, but they are better looking when they are right in front of you, but thats just my opinion. The best thing is hearing crap you didn't know existed on your favorite records and hearing those nuances in all their glory through these.

I'm writing this because I noticed that the last review was a couple of years ago. These headphones have a pretty damn flat response and isolate very well. They are snug but dont pinch your head as much as the HD 280's do. I can wear these much longer. They also fold up much nicer and come with a great carrying case. I'd say they are priced just about right. The cord is part strait and part coily which works well for me. If these fail on me, however, I'll probably spend a little more money and go with the Denon AHD 2000 which have incredible specs for the price.

On first listen, the thing that sticks out is low frequency. There is incredible depth and separation. However, up in the high frequencies things really start to bleed and around 5kish is exaggerated which make my ears hurt at volume. Very comfortable and they make a nice seal around the ear. But as I write this, I'm listening to some of my favorite tracks, and know how they "should" sound, but they sound like a poorly tuned club system with frequencies running all over the place.

I currently own a set of Sennheiser HD590's and wanted something with a great similar sound but with a closed back to prevent the surounding noise from affecting my listening of the music.  Tried a pair of another brands headphone, at about the same price but they were no where near the clarity.  These HD 380pro are fairly new and more than I wanted to spend, but well worth the cost.  Great fit (snug and stays put with any movement) built solid, but most important is the quality of the sound. Nice full sound that is perfectly clear and crisp accross the full extended spectrum.

Just got these in and I am WOWd. I am a home studio guy- macbook pro, mbox 2, protools LE, lots of presonus and focusrite, joe meek, neumann and evolution sennheiser mic locker. I use this out of the mbox 2 and into a presonus HP4 headphone amp for myself and the band when we practice. We record a lot of practices which become songs. These headphones are a hit-- the attenuation has stopped the click track from bleeding into my TLM67 (killer mic btw). I even mix on these as the soundstage is pretty even. The dynamic range is excellent and very low self-noise...I get punchy drums that are clearly distinguised from my bass players thundering lows. They fold up flat into the cases after the session. detachable cable, works with my iPod too (adapter included). Great value, amazing sound (as to be expected from Sennheiser). Bite the bullet and get 1 quality headphone that will last forever and give you a great REFERENCE sound rather than going through 10 pairs of cheap headphones. GREAT JOB SENNHEISER-- the resarch paid off and this is a true RECORDING STUDIO WORTHY CAN.
