I work at a church and we have a practice room and I purchased 8 sets of these headphones. Out of those 8, four have shorted out and in one of them the driver blew out. The short is not in the replacement cord (one of the reasons we purchased them) it is in the 1/8 inch female jack. They sound great and are comfortable, but they will not last you very long.
I must be the guy they were thinking about when they coined the phrase "insanity is making the same mistake over and over again -- and expecting a different result". My mistake was buying this model headphone over and over again because I loved the sound, even though every pair I've ever had (5 to date) never lasted more than a few months. The problem: the wiring shorts out (and it's in the phone, not in the cord) so repair would be more expensive. Do yourself a favor and buy the much less expensive (and comparable-sounding) Sennheiser HD 212 Pro. They are much more durable.
These Chinese made headphones are an unbelievable disappointment. I bought this set for my digital piano. They sound muffled and distant. There is not even a hint of quality associated with this rip-off from a so-called good name. I?m the type who never returns anything after I buy it. This junk is being returned tomorrow.
These headphones are an amazing deal. they sound great. These have a nice flat sound and are quite loud. Best out of this price range, and even into more expensive phones. The design is very attractive as well. Sennheiser does it right, two thumbs way up.
These headphones are absolutely great as long as you're not wanting booming bass. If you're all about bass, then I do not recommend these. If you like to hear everything, I very strongly recommend these. They are very comfortable and they hug your head gently. The only downfall is that they come in an open back design, which means anyone across the room will hear what you are listening to. But overall, I am extrememly satisfied and am very impressed with Sennheiser.
I purchased the Sennheiser HD485 about 2 months ago. Each time I use them I am absolutey shocked by the openess and detail these headphones produce. I have owned many headphoones going back to the original Koss headsets of the 1970's. I have spent way more money for headphones with far less bang for the buck. I plugged them into a cheapo TV/DVD combo in my bedroom that cost less than $150. The Sennheisers even make it sound great. I could not be happier. BUY THESE HEADPHONES!!! You won't regret it.
