This set of headphones is made by Sony, which is renowned for it's quality audio products. With that in mind, I have yet to run into a product made by Sony that I thought wasn't worth looking into. I have had this set of headphones for a little over a year now and they have stood the test of time. The bass is phenomenal and they are well-padded, which is great if you like listening to music for several hours at a time. My only real complaint is that the padding on the actual speakers is beginning to crack, but that is probably because I use them so often. The adapter works well for the back of my ZT Lunchbox amp for my guitar when I want to play late into the night without keeping the neighbors up. When it's plugged into the amp isn't always what it could be, but it does what I need it to do. When I got them as a Christmas gift I saw that how cheap they were and I was discouraged until I plugged them into my computer and listened to a few Santana's songs via YouTube. I was pleasantly surprised by the crisp, full sound that they had to offer. Although they do say "Studio Monitor" on them, I would not use these for studio headsets. They're good for the price, but not that good! They are great for listening to your iPod or other media player, but don't expect too much. Sony is a top-notch company, and I will probably continue to buy their products for years to come. All in all I am happy with the gift and I would get another set of these in a heartbeat! One recommendation - the cord is very long so don't try to do what I did and dance around while you have them on. I managed to do a nose dive while doing so. So far they haven't done wrong by me as far as sound quality is concerned, and I doubt they will for anyone else either.

These headphones have a very weird audio response. I never expected them to be even close to flat response, but it's like somehow, they are made to enhance "unusual" mid-frequency ranges, probably around 300hz to 650hz which is rather weird for almost any kind of application, even casual mp3 listening on the street. I got them for free when I purchased an Axiom, and I started to use them for rehearsal with my band through headphones at home. When you connect them to the headphone amp, they sound very VERY different from all other headphones connected (using the same mix for all of them, of course), and I only use sony branded (I own the 7506 and the XD100). All other Sony headphones I own don't sound all that different from each other, but even if the mix is awesome in all of them, these headphones will always sound horrible, no matter what, there's simply no fair mixing for everybody. I wouldn't recommend it for absolutely no kind of somewhat demanding audio application, since I don't consider them reliable at all, they simply sound nothing like the real thing actually is.

Comments about Sony MDR-V150 Studio Monitor Series Headphones:

For the price these headphones are offered at, you get shouldn't expect too high quality sound. I wouldn't use them for any bass-heavy mixes or tracks, even though they are supposed to have nice bass. I work with multiple instruments, and I can say that these are only good for practising guitar, or using them to check your tracks AFTER they are mixed and done. Overall, for the price, a decent set of headphones for small miscellaneous use, but nothing too big.

Don't be fooled by the "Studio Monitor" on the box

Comments about Sony MDR-V150 Studio Monitor Series Headphones:

Slightly below average even for cheap consumer headphones. Masses of uncontrolled bass, harsh highs and a week midrange make listening a fatiguing experience. Construction quality is flimsy. On the other hand they are cheap, comfortable and might suit someone wanting headphones for portable listening where extra bass might be desireable. The cord seems better quality than is typical in this price range too.

Excellent Bang for the Buck

Comments about Sony MDR-V150 Studio Monitor Series Headphones:

These headphones are definitely a great investment. High end is crisp and clear. Lows are there, but not over colored by some headphones. During vocal recording, I listened very closely and found there to be very little bleeding. I have purchased 2 pairs of these, and I plan on ordering more.

Comments about Sony MDR-V150 Studio Monitor Series Headphones:

Cant beat the price of these. I have a roland v drum set and these things are great. Small, they stay on your head while you play. Recently bought a set of cans (akg) that where more expensive and they sucked the sony's blew them away.

Comments about Sony MDR-V150 Studio Monitor Series Headphones:

I've hd these headphones for about 2 or 3 years. I love them. They're amazing! I've used them in the recording studio, and practicing with my iPod for all those years, and you can hear everything really good. Even the specifics on drums, which is what I play. They have a ton of low end too. The only bad thing is, my cord has a short in it now, and so you know how that goes. But, maybe they just wore out on me. I've used them practically everyday since I got them for a minimum of an hour or two. Give them a try.

Comments about Sony MDR-V150 Studio Monitor Series Headphones:

I love these headphones, since buying them I have bought other high end H-phones, Senheiser, Koss, and the latest Audio Technica, they are in a box!.They were great headphones, but they "Lie"when you are mixing, and these sony headphonesgive you exactly whats being recorded in your ears, the other phones enhance the sound makingit bad for mixing. So for mixing you cant miss with these!

Comments about Sony MDR-V150 Studio Monitor Series Headphones:

I bought a pair of these at target about a year ago, looking for something to listen to my iPod with. Immediately I noticed that the earpads don't go around the ear but rather sit directly on top; this can get annoying after just an hour or so of listening. This was my biggest concern, and because of this I gave the pair to my sister after just a month or so. Sound quality is obviously better than typical earbuds and cheap phones but nothing spectacular. Even if you're on a budget, do yourself a favor and get a good pair of Nady's (Nady DJH-2000's), Sennheisers (Sennheiser HD201's), or even low-end Audio Technica's (Audio-Technica ATH-T22's,) for just a little more.

Not bad at all

By Alxed14

Comments about Sony MDR-V150 Studio Monitor Series Headphones:

For a cheap pair of headphones, definitly not a bad buy. Not high quality of course but for casual listening or (in my case) in home recording they work just fine. They do get a little uncomfortable after a while, but how long do you plan on wearing them at a time? Overall decent pair of headfones and great for the price. im wearing them right now in fact!

I have delicate hearing from too much metal!

By Joe Kowalski

Comments about Sony MDR-V150 Studio Monitor Series Headphones:

So take what I say with that in mind. Great bass, no buzzing, maybe not as crisp as an old pair of JBL Pro 4As, but awesomely good. Good fit, can wear them for hours and have even slept in them. Definitely a great value.

I got these and in two weeks the right side had quit working. Up until that time they sounded and worked good on electric drums is what I bought them for.
