I have used and bought technics 1200's and mk3's they suck compared to my two str8-100's.
I have owned these for about 3 months. As far as features, they're worth every dollar. However, they definitely have their flaws. The locations of the power switch is terrible if you use a case, coffin, or have them in battle position. Also, the pop up light needs to be re-angled or something. It dosen't light up the stylus properly. The key correction isn't that good either, it changes the clarity and seems to change the sound level also. Now, for the good side, the straight tone arm really does work, the motor is very strong, selectable pitch is a plus, and the lighting colors are top notch. Excellent home or studio turntable. Not recommended for clubs or mobile use, though.
This is one of the best turntables on the market. You really get your moneys worth, as good or better than the SL-1210MK5.
I own 3 of these, and I must say, they are the best turntables I have ever used or owned. The Straight tone arm truly is skip proof, the motor is strong, and the torque is smooth. My only qualm is the key-lock, which sadds some type of an... echoing distortion sometimes. Otherwise, perfect in all aspects
Basically, the st-100's were mediocre and now the str8-100's rule if you disagree...you are wrong.
Great turntable for the price, very reliable. I own 2 of these.
