Comments about Steinberg CI2 Advanced-Integration USB Studio:
This interface is great! Strong mic preamps, and fairly low latency, depending on use. The included Cubase AI6 is great, very user friendly with decent plugins. I am in a three person band who records only acoustic covers, so this interface actually works incredibly well. The interactive recording function is very useful for anyone, not just guitarists. Everything about this interface feels solid, even though it is plastic, it has decent weight to it and the plastic shell is holding up well after being thrown around a bit (Laptop bag to basement floors.) Overall, amazing interface for singer songwriters and beginners in the studio.

Comments about Steinberg CI2 Advanced-Integration USB Studio:
The users giving this item a low rating aparently just do not know what they are doing. Buy a tutorial DVD that explains how to use Cubase. It is a lot easier than you think. Overall, especially for the price, this is an excellent item.

Comments about Steinberg CI2 Advanced-Integration USB Studio:
To the person complaining about the latency, that dpeneds on your hardware. I have seen as low as 7 ms reported and I have 20 ms which is acceptable for me. He also said that Cubase AI 5 is too complicated. Cubase AI 5 is a very excellent program. It may seem complicated at first because it is based on the highest quality profressional sequebcing software so there are many options. Once you learn it, it is easy to use. The effects are not as good as the full version of Cubase which is expensive software. It should be noted that you need to buy a dongle to use the software for more than a month but it is well worth it in my opinion.
The Knobs feel right. The intuitive knob control of Cubase is one of the reasons I bought this unit. The unit is weighted partly to make it feel solid and not cheap but this also will prevent it from being easily yanked off your table.
Comments about Steinberg CI2 Advanced-Integration USB Studio:
I record alone, starting with a basic track and then building from there. I thought this unit was going to allow me to do that on my laptop, but the monitor latency was terrible. I loved the layout of the unit, the build design was good, but without zero-latency monitoring you cannot record multiple tracks. If Steinberg can fix this problem, then they will have a good product. Until then, I wouldn't recommend this.
Comments about Steinberg CI2 Advanced-Integration USB Studio:
This package sounded like a great deal. An interface and software for under two hundred bucks. Exactly what I was looking for. Unfortunately the monitor latency was so bad, even with the buffer all the way down, that it made recording more than one track nearly impossible. Also the Cubase AI 5 software that was included is NOT user friendly. Even registering the product key is an unnecessarily convoluted process.I will say that the pre-amps to the device were nice and the sound quality was very good, but the other issues made it impossible for serious recording.
Comments about Steinberg CI2 Advanced-Integration USB Studio:
An awesome experience right out of the box for me. I am not a complete noob in this area but with my new iMac, I wasn't sure how difficult it would be to set up my new little studio with the CI2 and my MXL mics. It was stoopid easy to install, Cubase fired right up and saw the CI2 and I was recording really good sounding audio within about 10 minutes! The only other pairing that is as tight as this CI2 and Cubase is my iPod and iTunes...I can't say how much I like the interactive recording thing - I borrowed a buddy's Yamaha sustain pedal (it's a footswitch apparently too), and have setup my own little macro for recording hands free - dead easy.I didn't give it the full 5 stars in value simply because I think that the footswitch could have been included but that's a minor thing.Awesome product!
Comments about Steinberg CI2 Advanced-Integration USB Studio:
Wonderful, this thing works like a dream. Easy to use, simply plug and play, and you're ready to record. Cubase AI 5 is wonderful as well, Halion one, with the virtual keyboard is awesome. Only drawback is that some of the distortion isnt all that great in Cubase AI5, so I will try recording my amp. But other than that, wonderful little piece of equipment.
