Sterling Audio

A versatile studio condenser mic with tube warmth and depth.

The Sterling Audio ST69 Condenser Microphone features classic tube circuitry and an ultrathin 3-micron Mylar diaphragm—less than ½ the thickness of traditional diaphragms—providing an increased response to sharp transients for a more life-like character while capturing all subtle musical nuances.

The capsule includes a patented Disk Resonator System that is more sensitive to high frequencies without the need of EQ circuits that introduce undesired phase shift. The ST69 offers improved detail and depth on both vocal and instrumental recordings without sacrificing warmth and tone.

A precision cut stainless-steel body protects the finely crafted inner workings and compliments its technical brilliance with stunning good looks.

Features

  • Ultrathin 3-Micron Mylar Diaphragm
  • Disk Resonator Design Extends High-Frequencies Naturally
  • -10db Pad
  • Bass Frequency Roll Off
  • Stainless-Steel Body

Very good vocal mic

Features:
Quality:

One rough spot - angle knob on shockmount is hard to twist tight - too small, to close to the mount.

Value:

Wow.  If you are climbing the price ladder on home studio equipment, make a stop here before you jump to the German mics.

Overall:

The ST69I record intimate, detailed vocal harmony.  Was using mid-priced Shure condenser mic before, and while detailed and quiet, the sound was always dull.  It needed a lot of EQ, which sometimes sounded unnatural.  The mic immediately shows a bright, natural mid/high range perfect for vocals, without being brassy, buzzy or adding too much "s".  I really expected some flaws in this price range, what with the separate tube amp, etc. - but have no reason to switch mics now.  I use almost no EQ on most singers now, so the harmony is more natural.

All the features are right on point! This is one of the most versatile mics out there. Its the best for this price range. It's a classic look and handles with ease!

Quality:

The ST-69 is one of the sturdiest mics on the market! The look and feel is definitely one of a kind. Sterling put their heart and soul in this baby. Real quality materials without doubt?

This mic is worth every penny compared to some higher priced microphones. It's true studio quality with a longevity that is unsurpassed. It will most likely pay for itself after a few sessions. And every artist can feel confident that their cash was well spent!

I used the st69 on my last album and I have to say I was very impressed. I have used of my Neumann U87 for almost everything up until last year, now I find myself using the st69 for almost everything. I just can?t believe the quality and warmth you get from a $600 microphone. Don?t spend you cash on the higher end microphones unless you can hear a difference.

I was checking out Neumanns and other high end companies. I tried this mic out at Guitar Center and I fell in love with it. This is the best tube mic for the price, hands down. Groove Tube parts inside make this mic the best quality for the price. If you are looking for a great tube mic but don't want to spend a lot of cash...go with this Sterling.
