Up to 24-bit/96kHz WAV or MP3 recording with auto backup.

The TASCAM DR-2d Portable Digital Recorder brings high-resolution recording to a compact, affordable package. It offers up to 96kHz/24-bit WAV or MP3 recording to SD cards, and recordings can be transferred to your computer through high-speed USB 2.0.

A dual recording feature has 2 modes. Mode 1 records a copy of your audio at a lower level, so if the level suddenly jumps you have a backup instead of a distorted performance. Mode 2 records 2 separate stereo tracks at once, one from the built-in mics and a second from an external mic or from the line in, which could be a send from your mixing board or any other line-level stereo source. The resulting stereo tracks can be mixed together on the DR-2d or imported into your DAW for further editing.

Record using the new built-in condenser microphones or plug in your own. You can slow down recordings without changing the pitch, and there's even a metronome and built-in speaker. The DR-2d provides hours of recording time using a pair of AA batteries, making it the perfect partner for songwriting, live performance, rehearsal or home studio recording.

Features:

Features are simple but still plenty; built in filters and effects, the button layout and interface is easy to figure out and helpful to use, and of course, the dual record setting works just like it says.

Quality:

It's not that the quality is bad, but it could've been better. Wouldn't recommend messing around with the internal settings too much or else you might have to factory restart it a few times before it works right again. (true story)

But as far as the hardware and software interfacing; awesome, truly helpful, easy, and most importantly, usefull!

Value:

Amazing value, for the amount you spend, and how long you'll be using it; this is the perfect value.

Overall:

It has a simple design, easy to use and the built-in mic's have great  quality! All the little extra settings for dual recording and filters  you can apply work as they are described.

The only things I really have against it is that after messing around with settings to figure it out for about an hour, it starts getting errors. I don't recommend renaming it on your computer, as that might of have been a problem. Also, as this does run out-of-the-box on 2 AA Lithium batteries, it will kill the batteries after a couple hours of use, so bring extra!

Overall however, the value is great, quality is awesome, and I HIGHLY recommend this to anyone who needs some good audio quality on the go!

Tascam DR-2D recorder

Features:

This is a great portable recorder!  I must encourage everyone to read the instructions prior to use!  This units settings and SD card must be set prior to use otherwise in my case you will end up with nothing recorded.  The DR-2D burns up batteries in a very short time and the ac converter should be used during recording for over one hour periods.  Some SD cards are not compatible with this recorder so do you "homework" and check out which SD manufacturers on line that can be used.  I would limit the SD capacity to 8 GB even though the manual says you may use up to 16 GB cards.  I enjoy the fact that you can record in stereo and an line input at the same time so you have the flexibility to mix your recordings with both sources.  The WAV files use more SD card space but the quality of the recording is much improved over MP3 files.  I purchased this unit in "mint condition" and got it at a great price.  Consumer reports praise this Tascam DR-2D recorder for being a great tool to record music to practice or capture your "gig" with excellent results!  I would highly recommend you buy this recorder!

This product has some great features--wireless remote to stop/start or divide into tracks.  It als is easy to use, has great sound and is easy to download to pc to burn cd's.  3 small cons--the manual was inaccurate on how to divide files into smaller files--took a call to tech support to work out.  tripod adapter on back is plastic and quickly broke.  devours batteries--be sure to get the ac charger.

Overall:
I bought this thing to record some sessions with our band and it has been awesome. Lots of options but most importantly, it's reliable. None of this "did it record?" or "I wish I remember how that one song went". I will advise to buy the power adapter. Batteries work but don't last that long. Very easy to use, easy to get onto iTunes/burn copies for the jerks in the band that didn't put in on this. Buy It!! You will be glad you did.
