This guitar trainers is a must have for any guitarist. It makes learn songs extremely easy. It allows you to slow down tricky passages to be able to get them down and slowly increase the speed back up it allows you to change the tuning of the song so you dont have to constantly retune your guitar. it also allows you to take the guitars out of the song so you can play along with just the drums bass and vocals. it also aloows you to practice anywhere without an amp all you need is the gtr1 a set of headphones and your favorite guitar.all the guitar effects are very impressive for something that will fit in your pocket. its also great for recording new song ideas, and recording practices. hands down the best tool you can buy.

Comments about TASCAM GT-R1 Portable Guitar/Bass Recorder:
This unit has been my bread and butter for the last couple of years! I play in church, and we play different songs every week. I take this to band practice, record the rest of the band, and then practice the rest of the week as if I were practicing with the band. The unit works great, and it isn't difficult to use. It also has held up rather well. If mine broke, (knock on wood) I would be buying another one immediately. Highly Recommend It!!!

Comments about TASCAM GT-R1 Portable Guitar/Bass Recorder:
This is a neat little recorder, has great sound and is relatively easy to use. Only had it about a week so can't speak on product quality but it seems to be well-built and intuitively laid out. I love the overdub feature as it's great for jotting down musical ideas before they get away. I write my own instrumentals (strictly a hobby for now) and this is great for fast, on-hand recording when the ideas hit. It's got a decent rhythm feature also to keep you on beat.

Comments about TASCAM GT-R1 Portable Guitar/Bass Recorder:
The GT-R1 had all of the features that the CD 1 session trainer had. The CD door eventually broke and I was looking for a replacement. There is a small flimsly door on the GT-R1 that covers the SD card that I think over time will not last. I sent the unit back because the very first file that I dropped into it would not play. It showed that it was there but would not play it. It was a WMA file. That killed the whole deal for me. The fact that it would accept the file and then not play it. Maybe the next generation but in order for it to work for me it must play all formats
Comments about TASCAM GT-R1 Portable Guitar/Bass Recorder:
I was shocked after playing around with it for a while and learning IT HAS NO BUILT IN SPEAKER! C'mon Tascam, it would be so much simpler to operate with a speaker built in!
Comments about TASCAM GT-R1 Portable Guitar/Bass Recorder:
I've used mine for about a year now and love it. I think it records better than other hand help mp3/wav recorders I've used and would recommend it just for that purpose but with all the features for playing along and practicing with music i don't see how you can beat this. i have a complete DAW set up also but this little handheld is often what I go for these days. Its great to record a band practice and then practice back to it. Very easy to use. the only complaint is the tiny plastic cover over the memory card. when i saw how flimsy it was i knew it would break off soon and sure enough only lasted a week before it broke off but frankly it doesn't need that cover anyway so who cares. I didn't even send it in for repair because it would break off again anway.
Comments about TASCAM GT-R1 Portable Guitar/Bass Recorder:
I use my GT-R1 about 8 hours/week. I download songs, plug in my guitar and headphones and practice songs for Sunday worship. It has been a workhorse. Alas, the guitar in jack wore out, couldn't get a reliable connection. Sent to Tascam and in two weeks returned, no charge, in perfect condition. No hassles with warranty and proof of purchase. Really exceptional service.
Comments about TASCAM GT-R1 Portable Guitar/Bass Recorder:
I've been using my GT-R1 for about 8 months now and I find it indispensible. I play bass for our church worship band. During the week I travel for work. So when I get the songs for the next church service I load them up on the GT-R1 and then practice in my hotel room through earphones, plugging my bass in directly. I don't record with it. It has proven to be a rugged tool for daily use. The 1 GB memory is plenty for the 7-8 songs I typically load up at one time. Pitch changes works well, sound is a bit wobbly past 1 whole step change, but still usable. Slowing down songs works well. Only problem is that the GUITAR IN connector has become inreliable. Fussing with it I can get a sound connection. Looking into local repair outlets on the Tascam website for repairs. Can't spare it long enough to ship to Tascam for repairs. Besides the GUITAR IN connection problems my only other complain is that songs have to be converted into *.mp3 files before I can download from my computer.
Comments about TASCAM GT-R1 Portable Guitar/Bass Recorder:
I've had this about 1 1/2 years or so and love it. I hadn't picked up a guitar in about 25-30 years and even then my playing was limited. I started gigging with a friend on an acoustic, learning OJT. I got the GT-R1 and downloaded a slew of cover songs we were playing. (I replaced the 1gb card with a 2gb) I had to relearn just about everything and this thing was irreplaceable. I could play along, slow it down, change the beat, the pitch to whatever I needed and it was great. The pitch change is a little funky but it's plenty good to practice over. And it can be used to pick out "lick" notes. Slowing down the song through the playback mode alters the song a bit but no so bad you can't pick out the notes. Works pretty good! The mic's proved to be pretty useless, so don't use them at all. The effects are excellent through head phones and offer a wide array of sounds. They even work surprisingly well through an amp. Direct Recording through the unit is very good and over dubbing works great. It's very versatile and handy. I was skeptical about the rechargeable battery but it is still holds a good long charge, about 4 hours or so. The apps for the PC are user friendly. The unit is a little tricky at first but you get it pretty quick. I use it with headphones or to play along with recorded tracks through an amp and it works well. Nifty pice of equipment. I have switched to electric and the thing is equally useful with the electric. Especially the effects play backing thru an amp. I had trouble with the battery being loose and fixed it with a paper clip. Later it had a phone jack issue (i use it a lot) so I sent it back (after the warranty was out) Tascam fixed both issues, no charge! Within three weeks including shipping, not bad! If your learning, gigging and need a tool to learn the songs, this is it. I highly recommend it.
Comments about TASCAM GT-R1 Portable Guitar/Bass Recorder:
I have been writing songs for over forty years starting using two sony reel to reel mono recorders to overdub it worked but sound was bad this was in the sixties. In the 70's I bought a sony TC-640b with sound on sound also reel to reel. then on to a Tascam 4 track sim u sync reel to reel running at 15 ips using 10" reels this machine still works well. Then on to studios, the best way to go if you cab affird it. Now
