This is a simple yet feature packed unit, compact in size (think ham or turkey sandwich on regular sized sandwich bread), allowing it to fit in a guitarist's pedalboard as a useful addition. This is a ALMOST "plug and play" unit (not so brainiac or engineer driven as other TC Helicon or TC Electronics products) so your new product anxiety will be rewarded soon after you set it up. Be warned: this device, in my opinion, is not designed to mask, disguise or solve vocal dilemmas but to allow a decent pitch conscious vocalist to enhance and get the best of his/her existing voice. So..it allows someone with an average voice to sound pretty decent. And, add harmonies, you can get a full sound. Gadget tweakers will probably only be moderately satisfied as this is a unit with loads of 'PRESETS'; all parameter values are fixed. As far as durability, it seems very solid and has some heft / weight. Switches and knobs feel sturdy. The indicators and displays are bright enough but some are a bit tiny especially for 'older' eyes. Power supply...uuhh..not too durable..you may need a backup. As far as sound quality, the harmonies sound natural and although you can't tweak the voices extensively (such as: individual harmony voice volume, gender, vibrato, panning, individual fx for each voice) they sound pretty good out of the box. Harmony interval choices available are musical (except maybe octave up) : 3rd / 5th up or below, octave up/down, bass. As far as features, equalization, compression and pitch correction are a one button solution called 'Tone' with 'fixed parm' presets; they have pretty good 'real world' usable settings. Effects have their groupings: hall, room, delay, slap, combi and SFX; all sound decent and offer a few variations for each effect group (again 'fixed parm' presets). There's also a doubling function which thickens your voice (this too has a few options). And..phantom power is available!! The tuner is fast but a different color for 'in tune' (like green) would have been nice. In application, the unit can quickly decipher the key and create harmonies from your playing but a caveat really fringes on your musical role. If you are the front or main person playing guitar where you play full chords, the unit will be able to determine the key and find the right harmonies quickly. Now if you a part of an ensemble with other harmony instruments (keyboard, another guitar) where you don't necessarily play chords (at least enough to allow the unit to decipher the key), you will have to use the manual key selection which this unit does do. Manual key selection will also be the method for singers who don't play an instrument or play something other than guitar. This unit also can tune audibly to pitches other than 440hz.Compared to the previous generation unit (Voice Live), harmony voices sound more natural. Also, earlier units didn't have key sensing technology for guitar, so key input would have to be done manually (with your toes!!!) or an auto-key recognition device would have to be used (TC Harmony Control). That's a lot of toe tapping or additional equipment to bring along with all the regular gear. What do I wish this unit had? A main overall output knob would be good. Tap tempo for delays is always useful and expression pedal input to allow variable 'real time' parameter control during the performance would have been great. I guess if you need all that, get the VoiceLive 2.Bottom line: Good solid workable gig worthy unit in a compact package. Simple yet highly functional. And simplicity can be a good thing, with less brainiac options, having preset-based instead of parameter-based settings, the learning curve can be greatly reduced, making the G-XT gig-ready faster, making you focus more on your performance and when necessary making quick relatively painless adjustments on the fly.

It does a lot. I have been able to fool it into major chord vocal harmonies when I am playing a minor chord without even a lot of effort which can be a problem. I had to start using more barr chords to make sure the HC Telicon G XT recognized the chord and sometimes that doesn't help. I have to be a little careful how I sing. If I am not singing the root note, it tends to want to play the wrong vocal chord, even though I am playing the actual full barr chord on the guitar and it's an excellent, Taylor Doyle Dykes Anniversary Edition, Guitar.
I am happy with it. It does exactly what I was hoping it would do. I researched the products before I purchased one and it does just what it said it would do. I am very pleased with it. I like the fact that it came fairly quickly, thanks to Musician's Friend and that Musician's Friend talked me into getting the 3 year warranty. I will use it a lot and now I won't have to worry about it breaking due to excessive use.

Comments about TC Helicon VoiceTone Harmony G-XT Vocal Harmony and Effects Pedal for Guitarists:
This thing is superb!!! I have not had any troubles with it at all. The only con I'll say is without the use of a guitar the harmonies only go to whatever key you program in. Program it to "D" and the harmonies are in "D" regardless of what you sing. Same with any key you program it to. Now with a guitar, whatever chord you play is what harmony it gives you. If you play a "D major" and sing a straight "D" you dont get the "D major" harmony. It'll make you a better singer. The pitch correction works great, but your voice comes out sounding digitized, and not natural, so I never use it. It does exactly what I bought it for. When a 3 piece blues/rock band can go from SRV, to Kiss then to Restless Heart and The Eagles, and all kinds of stuff in between when the vocal harmonies didnt exist before, well, then the thing works like it should. I couldnt be happier with this pedal.

Comments about TC Helicon VoiceTone Harmony G-XT Vocal Harmony and Effects Pedal for Guitarists:
It is cheating and I love it.
It provides quick and straight forward harmonies easily and effectively with no programing.
It does what it says.
I use it in my solo acoustic gigs and with my band where my voice is not the lead.
In the band we use it as a supplement, not as our only harmonies.
I would say it is a go to for vocal hits to provide something a little more thick. You can not rely on it for everything, but it can provide a suitable augmentation to what you have already worked on.
I have also used it in my studio for candy.
Yes musicians will know that it is not authentic, but the general populous will not.
I get some grief other musicians (and sound guys) at times, but if i sold my soul buy using this then fine. I am comfortable in my skin.
If you got the cash it is a fun addition to your sound.

Comments about TC Helicon VoiceTone Harmony G-XT Vocal Harmony and Effects Pedal for Guitarists:
This is the one if you don't need additional confusion, getting past the initial "wow" factor will take a few days... fellow Singers all hate me now, if you sing well already, this thing will give you certain perfect-pitch without engaging all the other "bells n whistles" - this company is tech-savvy comparatively ..
Guitarists say "thats cheating" and then I point to all their magic boxes , (hey if you're gonna plug in & voice is your instrument) .... >

Comments about TC Helicon VoiceTone Harmony G-XT Vocal Harmony and Effects Pedal for Guitarists:
This is the only voice harmonizer I have found that will track a bass guitar accurately. I used one of these that a friend had and I loved it. When I went to buy one they only had the Digitech. It was horrible! I returned it and waited on this one to become available again. You'll have people looking all over the place for you backup singers. It sounds great. Not like fake voices I've heard from some of the other units.

Comments about TC Helicon VoiceTone Harmony G-XT Vocal Harmony and Effects Pedal for Guitarists:
A friend has the Harmony G. The first time I heard him play a song it was a done deal. Gotta have one. I ordered the Harmony G-XT which is an upgrade of the G. The first one had problems after two weeks. MF took care of me and sent me another. So far so good. I just started playing with the different presets, but right out of the box I found one that I liked and that alone was worth the money.

Comments about TC Helicon VoiceTone Harmony G-XT Vocal Harmony and Effects Pedal for Guitarists:
When a band member who covered the high part harmonies quit my cover band, I thought I'd have to expose myself to radiation and try to grow another head to replace him. I bought the G-XT instead. I'm in love with this processor! I'm in control of my sound! It's amazing enough as a unit that provides compression, EQ, and the usual effects, but the harmony effects are among the best I've heard. Voice doubling is cool too. I can sing complex three part harmonies in songs by Beatles, Yes, Boston, CSN, etc. or do darker Alice in Chains.
What I am still trying to figure out is the best way to trigger the key changes from more sources than my guitar as I sing all songs but don't always play. I've used a small mixer to take direct outs from the keyboard and guitar amps as well as from my acoustic and electric, but it's a lot of cable running. Next gig I plan to try using a line out of the main mixer to trigger from the sum of all the micd instruments. I hope it works well.
Comments about TC Helicon VoiceTone Harmony G-XT Vocal Harmony and Effects Pedal for Guitarists:
This thing is really cool!! I have great 3 part harmony, 2 part, and with another singer and an easy adjustment, 4 part. The manual settings are not near as accurate as with running a guitar through the pedal. So take my advice, use a guitar with it. The harmonies dont seem to change key when you got from lets say, D to G. The harmonies pretty much stay in D unless theres a drastic change in the lead vocal. Overall though this pedal is amazing. I'd recommend it to ANYONE that needs backing vocals that dont already have them.
Comments about TC Helicon VoiceTone Harmony G-XT Vocal Harmony and Effects Pedal for Guitarists:
I love this unit.
I even love practicing at home with my Harmony G-XT, it's like having my brother Darrel and my other brother Darrel singing harmony. I have only been at one gig so far but loved the additional harmonies since I entertained at a Seniors complex by myself.
Well built, sturdy and easy to program and save configurations on my computer. Like others, I wish the power supply was internal. A longer power cord would have been nice also - but I love the unit...
Comments about TC Helicon VoiceTone Harmony G-XT Vocal Harmony and Effects Pedal for Guitarists:
I used Quick Start to get it working right out of the box. WOW! What a great sound. 2 part and 3 part harmonies that open up a whole new world of vocal possibilities. As you get used to it you'll start to experiment with the harmonies to get THE sound. I used it at our last practice and the whole band thought it was great. If you sing at all, you gotta' get one.
So far so good. I've only used it 3 times but right out of the box I was extremely impressed
Great value especially when MF matches prices.
Comments about TC Helicon VoiceTone Harmony G-XT Vocal Harmony and Effects Pedal for Guitarists:
It works perfectly with the guitar. Easy to use. I had been using dedicated voice processing at the soundboard, but the soundman doesn't know when I want a change in settings. I was leary of the harmony effects because I've heard too many that sound fake. I'm pleased with the quality of the vocal harmonies from this unit and it's easy to control.
