This is a great piece of DJ equipment, I've owned many different brands of turntables and Technics makes the best by far. The only thing I do NOT like about this particular model is the pitch lock button. If you're in the middle of a set and accidentally hit that button it can be CATASTROPHIC. I plan to pull the button out or tape it over...something. I'm not exactly sure what the purpose of the pitch lock is really, we got along just fine for many many many years on the MKII's without that. The next model released by Technics needs that button to be recessed so you have to intentionally hit it and cannot accidentially touch it and screw up a perfectly good set/recording. OTHERWISE, this is the #1 table out there because the other features FAR FAR outweight any inconvenience with that one button.

well it's been 30 years since the 1200s came on to the scene and this new incarnation keeps the reputation of making one solid turntable. Not much has changed on these decks aside from the new Pitch range switch, and brighter LEDs. I don't think it merits the price hike, so for me that really brings the value down. Also, 30 years later and technics still hasn't figured out a way to eliminate the annoying, and troublesome ground cable. The competition obviously gets it, Technics has failed to listen to the consumers. So if they're listening, Ditch those ground cables, use a 3-prong design, and lower the price...

No other turntables can compare

By BNB973

from Hoboken, NJ

These Technics turntables are durable and well worth the money. The 1210 M5G are my first pair of turntables and I do not regret spending the extra cash for them. The pitch response is automatic and the cool blue lights just add that extra touch to your gear. Technics 1210 M5G keeps it real simple and to the point with function and form. I highly recommend them.

Pretty nifty..

By Blade-OekhW

Great turntable, no bad bearing on either of mine, also the digital pitch adjustment seems to work pretty good, also you have to keep in mind that on the 16%pitch fade it is more difficult for fine tuning while mixing, however you have to keep in mind that the ratio of distance to percentage of adjustment. Your cramming twice the amount of adjustment in the same amount of space. if that makes since. overall i think its a great turntable and looks phat too!

whens technics turntables gonna have a digital out

By Shospitali

from Georgia

When is Technics going to comeout with the digital output to comepete with stanton, and numark turntables? Once owned a technic, had it hooked to a big pioneer reciever, it sounded great, or to had my but kicked for parting with it.

got'em

By DJ GaFFle-YJEzx

I used to own the 1210 MKII's but finally got the M5G's. Big differences in the pitch control accuracy as well as skip-proof design. The small horizontal weight adjustment screw really makes the needles stick when scratching. These are top-notch and I highly recommend the M5G's.

I love it, but...

Adjusting the speed to match beats is a little more difficult than using the standard MKII's or M3D's. It's not an extreme difference, but noticeable. Much more sensitive for fine tuning but the extra pitch difference matched with Technics quality is worth it! Plus, you gotta love the black finish and the blue lights. They're HOT! ;)

Technics SL-1210M5G Pro Turntable

By The Mixologist DJ

from Orlando, FL.

I agree with the anonymous musician. I have a pair of the original 1200MKII since 1984 and still working. I've compared it to the M5G's and I have noticed it doesn't have that stable bearing. It's like it's strugling to stay locked on 0% pitch. Apart from that, I love my new M5G's. Also, I noticed that that platter is just a bit higher compared to my 1200 but that doesn't concern me at all.
