I provide sound and lighting production for local and traveling bands. I initially bought four used LED P-64 from a different manufacturer...not the newer Pro model LED fixture from that company. I also picked up two of the Venue LED 64 Par Can fixtures to mate with the other LED P-64. I control the combined six fixtures with a DMX mixer. I cannot tell any difference in the color intensity or the quality of the fixture itself. The only issue is that the LED fixtures from the two manufacturers do not scroll at the same rate, they are a split second different. However fixtures from the two manufacturers do respond identically to the fader controlling intensity. Make no mistake...LED lights do not produce as many lumens as a 500 Watt Par 64 with sealed beam. Of course, if you want two colors from sealed beam or incandescent light fixtures, you need two fixtures with different gels. If you want two colors from an LED color changer, you simply move a fader on the DMX mixer. Another advantage is that you can not feel any heat from the LED fixtures...bands really like that. I also like the color saturation that the combined six fixtures provides. The low current draw of LED means that I can plug in a lot of LED fixtures on the same 20 Amp circuit. I can only connect four 500 Watt sealed beam Par 64 cans on that same 20 Amp circuit. Eventually, I would like to add at least two more Venue LED 64 fixtures. I am satisfied with their performance thus far. I feel the Venue LED 64 are a good value for the price.
I've been wanting to get into LED lighting, so when I saw these on sale, I bought two of them. Once I got them home, I was disappointed. The color mixing is nice, but the brightness is just not adequate. The sensor (built-in mic) for sound activation on one of them was flaky (intermittent), and they both generally had a cheap, plastic-y feel to them. I returned them both the next day. Save your money, and buy something more robust and rugged!
