Comments about Yamaha DXR12 12" Active Speaker:
I'm using this with a Fractal Audio Axe-FX II guitar processor. The sound I'm getting from this speaker is - at least for ghe Axe-FX - is nothing short of incredible. This is replacing a QSC K12 which died after only a month of ownership. I'm glad it did die! The QSC was very brittle & harsh sounding where the Yamaha, at least to my ears, is perfectly flat. Exactly what you want if you want to faithfully reproduce the intended tones of modeled guitar amps!

Comments about Yamaha DXR12 12" Active Speaker:
Extreme dynamics, super powerful, and lite weight. Everthing a mobile DJ could ask for... I had to trim my system way down to for these speakers, they hardly need any signal at all, to reproduce,(AKA.BLAST EXTREMELY CLEARLY and be SUPER LOUD WITHOUT DISTORTION,) anything you send to them. I always used 15 inch mains, but these 12's are incredible. Just having the headroom for those special moments when you really need it, is priceless! I Love Yamaha's from my GRizzly 700 to my DXR 12'S.

Comments about Yamaha DXR12 12" Active Speaker:
I bought these to upgrade from my old JBLs and after listening to a bunch of comparisons at GC, these were a head above the rest. Made to compete with the QSC K series, these things certainly deliver. I grinned from ear-to-ear while testing these speakers in my basement DJ practice sessions a couple months ago... still grinning each gig I've done since. Don't expect to save a couple hundred bucks with an inferior speaker, you can't get this quality for any less. Best speaker I've heard in a while. Even without a sub these things bump pop and hip-hop without a problem. I did an outdoor gig playing top 40 and these things had plenty of headroom to spare, sans any distortion. You won't be disappointed with these in your gear list. The only speakers that I've heard that can hang with these are the QSC brethren for a few hundred bucks more... They are also plug and play which helps with some of my mobile DJ gigs in where I just need to play music and have one mic. Great stuff and I've come to trust Yamaha as my go to for "bang for the buck" live pa gear. If you are a professional, you can't go wrong with these. My only grip is that the finish of the speakers looks great but scratches pretty easily. Definitely buy cases before you do a gig... I didn't and managed to scratch them a little but nothing major. Highly recommended!

Comments about Yamaha DXR12 12" Active Speaker:
I've recently owned a pair of QSC K12 and replaced them with the Yamaha DXR12s. WOW!! I was really impressed with how well they kept up at extremely high volume. I did A/B at a local music store, and I was totally blown away by the sound quality and power of DXR12.
I have owned DXR12s for about a month now, and I found the processing called "D-CONTOUR" really amazing. With the processing activated, the speaker sounds like a 15" cabinet!!!! My friend had JBL EON515XTs, so me and my friend compared my DXRs to his EONs out of curiosity. What!? I could not believe that 12" speaker could beat 15"... My friend has just bought a pair of DXR12s a week ago:)
Comments about Yamaha DXR12 12" Active Speaker:
I am new to the powered speaker/passive mixer PA. I'd prefer a hybrid 1/4/XLR input and I think the manual could be better....that's really reaching to be critical. This speaker is LOUD and I could not hear distortion with my iPod running through a mixer at a high volume, definitely no distortion from my acoustic guitar/vocals. For my acoustic/electric project, it will be more than enough up to mid-size rooms. They are warm and can get low, even boomy, despite the ABS exterior and I can now keep my small mixer close by without it being an eyesore. Not flimsy or cheap, these are built to last and money well spent for what I needed. I need to play out with them for a year to give an full review, but impressed so far. They need padded covers.
well you can read and look at the pictures...it has 3 inputs, huge power, individual levels, direct out, hi-pass filter, front led, tiltable stand mounting bracket...all good features. I'm giving it an 9 because I'd rather the 1st input have a hybrid (1/4 or XLR) input jack like my EV and the manual could be better for those not familiar with powered setups. Otherwise is righteous.
Yamaha quality IMO is well above average in general...it's not been gigged or pushed yet, but I have complete confidence that it will be more than enough and has a nice fit/finish. I baby my equipment, so hopefully I'll never have to get the full potential out of it's quality. The ABS walls seem to be thicker than the usual, no rattle or cheap feel...solid.
It's competitively priced...with the features, power, and latest technology...a very good value. I hesitantly bought my first one, played with it at home, used it as a monitor on a gig, and liked it so much that I bought another one...and I don't like to spend money. They will be mains for my next gig, hopefully my next several years worth of gigs. I'm a "bang for your buck guy" and I could sleep at night after buying them.
